Can't go wrong with this two-sided texture sponge and ๐
Exactly what I was looking for to add to my drywall repair kit. Having two distinct sides and including a container made this an easy decision.

Solid Results
This sponge handles both knockdown and orange peel texture well, and it's reusable if you clean it well after each use. Getting the right texture really comes down to your technique more than the sponge itself. How much water you mix into your mud makes a big difference in the final result, so it's worth testing on scrap material first to dial in your consistency. Less water for knockdown, more for orange peel. The process for knockdown is to apply with the sponge, let it sit until it just starts to set up, then knock it down with a scraper. Timing is really the key to getting a clean, even texture.

Worked for Me
First, let me say that I did not use wall texture to re-texture the walls. I simply didnโt need the huge amount available locally. Instead, I used caulking since the sparkling I had on hand would NOT texture at all. First, I filled holes from things my builder had installed. Used this sponge and the caulking to recreate the texture I needed (orange peel). It took a bit of practice, but it looked pretty good. Once I repainted, it is impossible to tell where I patched things. Second, my cats seem to delight in sharpening their claws on the corners of my walls. They were making huge gouges in the drywall. I once again used my caulking to fill the claw ravines and let it dry. Then, I added more caulking and used the sponge to recreate the texture. Repainted and canโt tell the difference from the original. However, I realized a wonderful bonus from not doing it the right way. The caulking has a slightly rubberized finish and the cats have not been able to cause any more damage where it has been applied. It seems to be even protecting the paint layer from damage as well. When I feel optimistic enough, I am going to try to repair the floor molding that one of my cats has damaged with her new clawing obsession. I wonโt need the sponge for this, but using the sponge (and having success with it) makes me feel like I can do anything! Some people have complained that the sponge does not create the texture they need. I suggest they try both sides and the edges to see if they canโt get what they need.

Sponge of choice
If you have kind of a lumpy, finish on your texture, plaster,,,, this was the thing that matched the closest blotted the whole ceiling.Wait forty five minutes, then knock it down with a flat twelve inch blade.Don't smash it.Just brush across the top creates a neat texture. Covers up imperfections. I tried all kinds of nappy rollers nothing worked except this.. For total splatter texture, you need a hopper with an air compressor. But this worked great on the ceiling.

Does not orange peel at all
Does not achieve orange peel, I practiced with it first a few times, not good at all, threw it away. Picture of this today is different from the one I purchased. Go with a hopper or a can for fine, medium, or dense orange peel.
