Excellent DVD player
I needed a multi-region dvd player as I have a lot of Region 1 dvds. With this in mind I popped over to Currys and was informed that they don't sell multi region players. ?? The same was also true in Argos (Argos even had this exact same dvd player in store but it hadn't been unlocked and so would only play Region 2 discs). Again, ?? I wonder if they have this trouble in the US ? Anyway, I then found this on Amazon, read the reviews (some of which were conflicting e.g. some said that this doesn't play Region 1 discs, some said that there is no HDMI lead included, no AAA battery etc.). I decided to go by the tried and trusted...hope for the best and expect the worst. I'm so glad I did. This player is brilliant. The picture is really excellent, it plays all region dvds and it's also easy to set up. The contents: 1 multi-region dvd player. One 1.5m HDMI cable. I remote control with AAA battery included. A set of instructions which you don't need and that's about it. The set-up: Unplug your old player and throw it in the bin or give it away or burn it or something. Plug the new dvd player's power lead in. Connect the HDMI lead to the back of the player and the other end to the back of the TV. Put the power on, insert a dvd, crack open a beer and enjoy. Simples!! And if I can set it up anyone can!! Positives; All of the above Negatives: None (There might be a slight niggle with some buyers about the length of the HDMI cable. It's only 1.5m and so depending on how you have your system set up you might need to purchase a longer lead). To sum up then this a brilliant player and cheap!! Highly recommended.

Brilliant little machine!
This sturdy and compact little DVD player couldn't be easier to get going, simply plug in and go! The picture quality is noticeably better than our old one, the machine works perfectly and noiselessly, and playback of both region 1 and 2 discs is glitch-free. (Haven't tried using USB facility yet.) The remote is easy and straightforward to use and is responsive. The machine that I received was brand new, in unopened packaging, and complete with HDMI lead, remote and batteries. Registering it with LG for the free 12 month guarantee was also straightforward, and there was even a sheet in the box specifically for noting down the registration number that I was given over the phone. I did read the other reviews and was a little worried by the poor ones, but they were proportionately far fewer than for other machines, and the remaining reviews were glowing. So I decided to go ahead, and I am supremely happy that I did. I highly recommend this item to anyone who wants an affordable, quality multi-region DVD player.

Very good multi-region dvd player
If you're looking for a multi-region player so you can play for example North America region dvds, this will do a very good job for you. Very easy to use. Just unpack and plug and play. So far it has played all the dvds I've tried with no problem. Picture quality is good. ( Nb you will need to buy a separate HDMI cable ). Only slight drawback is I think the remote control could be better, which is why I only gave 4 stars overall. Previously I had a splendid little Sony multi-region player, which I don't think is made anymore That was a real gem and had a better laid out remote. But the LG remote here is still perfectly satisfactory. So my overall verdict is that this is a pretty good player, at a good value price.

Early days, but I'm impressed so far
Having only had the DVD player for one day I hope I'm not being premature, but so far - excellent! Obviously I haven't tested all features, nor do I know if it will stand the test of time but:- a) Good price and earlier than estimated delivery b) Very simple setup, it worked first go c) Superb image quality and silent operation The accompanying manual is rubbish (but setup is so simple it's unnecessary anyway) but so what, you can download the full (free) manual from the LG website if you feel you need to know more. I was a bit put off by the answers to some of the questions on Amazon. I shouldn't have been... Q) Does this item come with a remote control? And is there a scart cable? A) Yes it does come with a remote control unit. The package does not include an HDMI cable. WRONG! Obviously there's a remote control, but there's also a 2M HDMI cable supplied. However, in answer to the question, there isn't a SCART cable. Q) Can I connect a hdmi socket on a dvd player to a pc or scart socket on my TV. A) An HDMI cable cannot be converted into a scart socket. You are taking a digital signal and trying to reduce it to analog. TRUE, BUT the player also has RCA and Component outputs on the back. If your TV has component input you can use that. If not, buy an RCA to SCART cable (download the user manual for details). Q) How many scary sockets are on the back?. A) None, its a hdmi socket only. WRONG! It has HDMI, RCA video out, Component video out and Digital audio out. However, if your TV has spare HDMI socket that's the only one you need to use. I wonder how many people have been put off by reading incorrect answers?
