Does the rotator of the brackets allow for horizontal placement of speakers? I want to place the 4 corners upright, with the centre front horizontal.

Sorry as far as aware doesn't rotate fully. just can turn sideways and slight up and down.it depends where the whole on back your speaker is, but i would expect the hole in middle with your speaker vertical as that is how central speakers sit. The actual brackets have screws and bolts on that you tighten, and hole of speaker slots on screw, its not easy to knock off and need lift to get on off, the speaker will work and fit vertical or horizontasl dependfing where holes are on speakers without rotation needed

Will these brackets work on a home cinema speaker?

Yes but check what size of thread is on the back of your speakers, the bolts supplied to fix the speakers to the brackets are M5 and my speakers required M6 bolts. It wasn't a big deal as I had some spare M6 bolts I could use, however I did have to drill the bolt holes to 6mm to accommodate the M6 bolts. I also drilled a 5mm hole on the bottom half of each bracket to run the speaker cable through as there is no way to run the cables discreetly otherwise.

Is the whole bracket made of metal or just the back plate with the rest made in plastic?

Really sorry, they have been on my walls& in use so many years now .  I have had to double check, and tbh! I have no idea,  I think it's plastic? But tbh they are so sturdy, could easily be metal. I have had no problems what so ever with them, no breakage or weakness. I think have had them up, with speakers on, over 10 years.  If they are plastic it's not cheap rubbish! Unless they have changed since i have bought them.
