Does your Laptop have a DisplayPort? This is a socket that looks like a slightly larger USB socket (sometimes these can also be used for USB connectors) The socket is rectangular, but if you look closely you will see that the left side of the socket (as you look at it) has the bottom corner cut off. If you do have a DisplayPort then you can buy a display port to HDMI converter and then plug in a standard HDMI lead between the laptop and the TV. If your laptop only has a VGA connector for an external screen, you can also buy a VGA to HDMI adaptor cable, although I have never used one of those so cannot tell you how good that would be. I cannot gaurantee that it will work with MacBook Pro, but the displayport is an 'industry standard' so if the MacBookPro has a display port connection then it should work. Hope this helps. It works really well on my laptop PC, very pleased.

My tv has three hdmi inputs which doesn't work. if i plug the usb end into the tv, and the hdmi into my ps4, will that work??

Well its a video/audio adaptor so as long as you use it correctly and for the right purpose yes. Bear in mind what it is. Its a display port adaptor so you need a computer or whatever that has one. Hewlett Packard computers tend to have a display port. Check your appliance for compatibility.
