Great escape game that’s not too difficult
Really good game but can only play once I would only buy it on sale

Excellent game for a night in with wine
Excellent game. Me and my partner enjoyed doing this game. Well worth the money would recommend. Wasn't to difficult but wasn't easy either.

Rewarding and well structured with some good "reveals". Will be playing another before long.
You are confronted with a strong sense of "how do we even begin this" after reading the instructions but stick with it. Once you have "permission" to read the first riddle card the mechanics of the game all starts to become much clearer... and you get the reward of having triumphed over the less than encouraging instructions. For fairness, I should add that the instructions are entirely accurate and pretty clear (if repetitive), they just lack a friendly touch to point the way to the start line. The puzzles are non-trivial and so satisfying when solved. We will definitely be ordering another one. Note that the series are ranked according to difficulty (on the box, bottom left, from Novice, 1/5, to Expert 5/5). This one (Abandoned Cabin) seems to be the easiest (rated 2.5) and so a good one to start with. Secret Lab is rated 3.5, Pharaoh's Tomb 4. I was impressed that aside from the first, ease-you-in-gently puzzles, they were generally taxing but fair. We had 5 players and it worked very well. Could be marginally even better with 4, I suspect, to ensure everyone is engaged all the time. Would expect that more than 5 would be a stretch but not impossible. With the advantage of 5 rather different minds working on this we didn't need to consult the Help cards but it still took us an hour and 20 minutes to complete. Would highly recommend.

Gets you thinking
These games are excellent. Once you solve a couple you start to think in the way to get to the answers highly reccomend. Not fone any really difficult ones yet. The advent calendars are brilliant. Little hint don't alter anything or throw anything away they are so well thought out you can use any of the parts included in the game box and all

Great puzzle for bright teen daughter - great way to spend an afternoon
My 13 year old daughter loves puzzles. She would happily plough through the Puzzler in one sitting and when she prepared for the 11+ exams a few years ago, she whizzed through the non-verbal reasoning questions. So I thought as a treat she could invite one of her good friends to come over and have a 'play-date' (although teens don't call it that - it's only reserved for primary school kids and toddlers). Anyway, the two of them cooped themselves up in her bedroom and emerged two or three hours later having solved the thing. I could hear them laughing away and having a good time - so if they hadn't been gossiping away, perhaps they might have completed it sooner. Anyway, she said she enjoyed the concept very much although wants something a little more challenging but from the same series of puzzles. So I would say it's a winner and a good one to start on, if you are interested in this series of puzzles.

The abandoned cabin - Loved it!
The reviews on these are mixed but I chanced it. We have done a few escape rooms and love them. 5 of us did this over Christmas. It was difficult but possible (which is how it should be). It took us about 2 hours. Advice: 1. YOU ARE NOT MISSING ANYTHING! Look more closely at EVERYTHING! 2. When you have solved a particular puzzle always look at the clues and solution card for that puzzle just to check you haven’t missed anything. It isn’t cheating and if you don’t you can easily get confused. I think if you haven’t done escape rooms maybe choose one of the games with the easiest star rating as you won’t be in escape room mode. If you do do escape rooms - buy this product! We are doing another one together next weekend and I can’t wait! But we will be checking the solutions this time! As for the reusability - you don’t fold or cut the cards, only the booklet. We will hand the game over to our daughter and her partner with a bit of explanation. The folds etc will help them a little but won’t spoil it for them. But obviously we can’t use it again ourselves.

Great game, but inexcusable (and easily avoidable) wastage…
We really enjoyed this game and it proved a great activity for 2.5(!) hours on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The puzzles and riddles were good and the hint system worked well. The quality of the materials were good too, although the ‘mysterious objects’ were basically three more cards, which felt a bit cheap considering the price point. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want it filled with horrible plastic, but maybe some nice slot assembly card objects would have been fun. I have a minor and a major gripe though. Minor one first is that we hit a dead end a third of the way through and I’m not sure where we went wrong, but there was no way out and now I can see all the game materials in full, I’m not sure what we missed. Without giving any spoilers, there isn’t a picture of two key items and what shapes relate to them and it felt like this was missing rather than us just not seeing it. Had to guess an answer which luckily was correct, but didn’t feel in the spirit of the game. Maybe this was just us though! My major gripe is with the one-use feature. I hate waste, but embraced the firm instructions to cut, fold and write on the materials as the promise of “more diverse puzzles” written on the box seemed legit. However, you only need to cut a few cards and one page of the booklet up, and fold one page, so for two-ish puzzles the whole game is rendered useless at the end. This is EASILY solvable by having the bits that need cutting out supplied alternately as punched cards in the same style as the ‘mysterious objects’ and/or in a simple envelope with the riddle number on it. That would mean you can gift the game to others afterwards. I’ve concluded it simply isn’t enough to say the game is fully recyclable afterwards; the game is too nicely put together to toss in the green bin at the end! Kosmos need to do better here. The price point should allow for the materials presented in this way; they are not cheap and yes, a cinema ticket is around the same price for a few hours entertainment, but this doesn’t negate the waste. I’ve assuaged my guilt by painstakingly reconstructing everything so I can pass it on to charity or another player, but it would be so easy to make it reusable. My recommendation is add a few sheets of tracing or baking paper to your stack of materials before playing, and you can quickly reproduce the ‘destructible’ elements and allow you to regift to someone else.

Date night sorted
Great game that’s perfect for date nights and parties. Having done escape rooms in person before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I would recommend this one for someone who hasn’t done one before as it made you think but wasn’t too difficult. The theming was great and all fairy tails we knew. Worth noting that these can only be used once and you will need pens and scissors to complete! Was very pleasantly surprised And have brought another one!

Juego entretenido

Excelente juego!

Two hours of escape room puzzle solving fun!
These guys have developed a great system of puzzles, answers, and clues to let you tailor the difficulty to your own group or level of persistence. This is the second “Exit” series box I have played, the first was the pharaohs tomb. Both were great fun with a variety of twists and turns in the puzzles. You start the game by reading the brief introduction and taking out of the box only the items you are told. One by one you collect the clues, unlock new items and puzzles, and by the end you have used everything in the game. There are a couple items in each box you don’t get for quite a while, but seeing them doesn’t give anything away. Figuring out how to use them is the trick. New areas are shown in the main booklet and on cards you get for solving puzzles. Read carefully, look closely, and try to think outside the box or you will never escape the escape room in a box. Trying to beat the clock without using the included HINT cards may be impossible. I recommend these games without hesitation. Great series. Once you try them you will recommend them to others. Yes these are use-once games. And underpriced for the fun and sense of accomplishment you will get from completing a well designed escape room experience at your own game room table in the safety of your own home. Note: to be clear, you can actually pause or stop playing at any time, the peril is strictly fictional. ;)
