can this be player 1.

Once you put the batteries in and power on your Wii/Wii U then yes it can be, or if u can have up to 4 remotes turned on from player 1-4 in whichever order there turned on.

Why did it come in a plain white box and not original Nintendo packaging? It says new, but whos to say.

No idea unless the seller bought them in bulk and packaged them individually...I only know that the one I bought works perfect and that's all that matters to me. Box went in the garbage anyway.

Does it work on the wii u

most wii games need motion plus , so this might not work for some wii games but the controller does works on the wiiu console. it depends on the game

Funciona de maravilla!

Tenía bajas expectativas sobre la funcionalidad del wii remote, pero en mi caso, me salio excelente para ser usado, es muy presciso, es compatible con Wii y Wii U y es mucho mejor en comparación con mandos genéricos

Great!!!

I recently purchased this item, it was packaged well and in manufacturers packaging with authenticity certificate. I am well pleased with this item and now that i av this extra wiimote to my package, no more moans from my dad that i take too long passing him control, he can now av 1 jus for him. Only thing av trouble with is my room is fairly small so i haven't managed to play 2 person table tennis for fear hitting each other - perhaps need more space! But I don't regret buying this product and reccomend buying from here if ya need an extra wiimote. 1 more thing the price was the cheapest around for the official wiimote at time of purchase saving valuable pennies - always a gud thing!!

These are authentic Wii controllers & work very well. ...

These are authentic Wii controllers & work very well. We had to replace our 8 year old ones...as they finally would no longer charge. As we accidentally bought imitation controllers this year, (not on Amazon), I was concerned these were fakers. But they are the real thing & you can safely buy these. They should last another 8 years!
