Yeah, it works fine on Linux. Even the media keys.

Is this a wired/cabled keyboard?

Yes. You can get them not wired but as it has illuminated keyboard I thought better to get wired as saves having to keep changing batteries. It is fantastic.

Can you assign any keys for special functions?
