Is this designed for one-time use?

no, I use is all the time, it's great!

It is too tiny a needle to tell from if cakes indeed baked enough. Especially some cakes with fresh fruits. With the nature of the color of the material, it's also hard to tell if it came out with a wet status or dry inside the cake. Pros: : the surface looks good ( very hard to see the piercing.

How long is the tester?

Like all cake testers it’s never long or big enough. But I have found that if you take the cake out to dinner and give it plenty of wine and give it roses at the end of the night it really doesn’t matter how long or big it is ,it’s all about the presentation!

With the blue holder part it is 6” without the blue part it is 4.5 “
