How does this compare to the clearclick video to digital converter 2.0 (second generation)?

It's similar, but this unit can do a lot more. Like the Video2Digital Converter 2.0, this unit also records from AV video sources (older video sources such as camcorders and VCR's). However, this unit can also record from HDMI (modern video sources), as well as VGA and YPBPr video sources. It also has a much larger screen, has a remote control, and can run on battery (sold separately).

The previous model accepted S Video input. Does this one?

What are the recording time and file size limits? If it splits files, are they gapless when reassembled?

The largest usb memory card size is 128G. Depending on the formatting of the memory card the file split will be either 4G for FAT. 16G for exFAT. Time limits for 128G is probably about 6 to 10 hours across split files. I have not tried to reconstruct a split file yet but I don’t anticipate a problem. Normally no frames are lost if you use high quality fast storage medium.

Yes. You might experience a minuscule decrease of quality, but nothing very significant.
