This book is excellent with example sentences and interesting exercised. It's the best book out there for 11+ vocab. My daughter used this book and said some of the words from this book came up in the test.

A brilliant book. My students love doing the exercises and their vocabulary has improved significantly. Wish I'd found it years ago!

Wonderful serrvice- book came next day. Very good ways to remember new language. Would recommend to any one willjng to learn English. .. only one complaint: 10-14 is a bit too old age group for this book

This is a good book that my daughter aged 9 enjoys (finally!) and looks forward to. The exercises are more like puzzles than scary Qs. Each exercise begins with a list of 10 words and their synonyms/ antonyms, and is followed by 3 exercises to consolidate those words and make the child more and more familiar with them. It is a handy tool for the 11+ tests. The reason I have withheld a star is because I dont think 3 exercises are enough per 10 words (and their numerous synonyms!), those words should show up intermittently in exercises along the way, so that the child bumps into them every now and again throughout her journey with this book. There is a real danger that by the time she's done about 10-15 pages she'll have forgotten some of the vocabulary in the first few pages. Because there is a lot to take in, she only does this book once a week, so it would have been nice to have some further exercises to do during the course of the week to consolidate her learning, eg. Write a poem using these words, or Write a story using these 5 words and their antonyms etc.

It is a very nice book for vocabulary practice. I would highly recommend this book. The author has explained the words with good examples. My daughter also likes the word game to help cement the knowledge.

Great for non-native speakers to practice or British citizens to improve or enrich their vocabulary !

This is a must-have for all ages. The exercises are enough to challenge even adults. Amazing!!!

I have not received the item at all. they took my money but did not deliver the item. I am so disappointed.

Good book. Will introduce or reinforce vocabulary words with exercises. However, it's effectiveness really depends upon a student's current vocabulary level. That makes it difficult to asses without seeing the vocabulary words themselves ahead of time. Review never hurts, of course, but I want a book to increase vocabulary, not review. But that problems exists with any vocabulary book. If you feel your child is at grade level with his vocabulary, this may be a good starting point. My seventh grader knew a little more than half of the words so it served as a review and as builder of new vocabulary.

This is a perfect vocabulary booster that is loaded with well presented practicum & interactive participation. I know the book is aimed for young teens; but I would also recommend this book as a refresher for any adult who has gotten 'lax' with their language skills throughout the years. It is a delightful read with a simple format that makes for a gentle and yet informative study. Vocabulary books can be rather 'tedious' & certainly not a 'must have'....but this book breaks that dull format & creates an unexpectedly enjoyable learning experience.

The vocabulary book combines features that make it easy to use for adults and students. Each set is categorized into common-sense groups, such as "homophones" and "synonyms." They are all appropriate for middle school, ranging in difficulty from mild to hard. After each set is presented, exercises are given to review the words. These include fill-in the blank, and matching. It is a bit traditional in using word lists as a focus of study, but it does it well.

We have been using this book for 3 weeks and it is amazing. I have my daughter look the words up in a dictionary and then we make a set of vocabulary cards for the week (index cards with a ring on the corner and a hole punch) and on this card is the word, a sentence and the definition. She enjoys doing them and the practice sheets are good for her to work on one per day. I liked this book so much I bought the grammar version to bring into our curriculum too

A valuable tool for learning vocabulary, I would highly recommend for homeschoolers or extra practice.
