Anker® Ergonomic Optical USB Wired Vertical Mouse 1000/1600 DPI, 5 Buttons

I was originally looking for a reasonably-priced mouse that had a thumb and pinky-finger rest on either side, in order to stop my thumb / smallest finger from dragging on the mouse mat. Despite best endeavours, I couldn't find a conventional mouse like that (some of the photos on Amazon exaggerate the size of a mouse's thumb rest and I sent one back for this reason).That's how I ended up trying a vertical mouse. I spend 8 hours+ on the computer all day (for work) but have never really had wrist discomfort. But I thought a vertical mouse might achieve what I was looking for in terms of avoiding thumb//pinky contact with the mouse mat.When I first got the Anker vertical mouse I didn't really like it, despite immediately noticing that the angle of the hand (more vertical rather than horizontal) felt more 'natural'. I've been using it for about a week now and have perhaps adjusted my hand position on it somewhat, using my thumb and first finger (=left mouse button) a bit more like a claw (i.e. higher up the mouse). I'm finding using it is starting to come more naturally and I'm beginning to like it.FWIW, I have smallish hands (~18cms from the end of the wrist to the end of the longest finger) - I suspect it would be even more usable if my hand was a little bigger or the mouse was a little smaller, but I don't think it's a deal-killer.The mouse itself is very good quality, especially for the price. It has a matt, rubbery feel to it, the buttons make pleasing and consistent clicks and the wheel / centre button feels right. Pressing the wheel (centre button) works best once you've adjusted to the angle of the mouse and are pressing it in the direction of the switch movement - again, takes a little getting used to.Mouse manufacturers like to have a led cutout to make the mouse more 'sexy' and this one has a red one, roughly outlining where the thumb would go. However, it's not too bright and in my dimply lit office could just be mistaken for red paint. So shouldn't be an issue.Overall, this is a great mouse for the price and well worth a try if you're looking for an economically priced vertical rodent.FINALLY, can I say that this mouse is ridiculously over-packaged in single-use plastics? There is a clear plastic box. Inside that is another clear plastic moulding enclosing the mouse, which rests on a cardboard box, containing the mouse cable and instruction leaflets. In this day and age, with growing awareness of the plastics issue and where, presumably, most of the product sales are online, why, oh why, can't they package this item more environmentally sensitively? (I did email the company about this and recommend that, if you share my outrage [over-statement!), you write to the company too [[email protected]]. I got a nice reply but obviously they're only likely to change if enough people complain.)** UPDATE AFTER 3-4 MONTHS USE **OK, I have to own up to buying a Logitech MX Master for Amazon, which was recently 'on-deal' at a big reduction, to replace the Anker vertical mouse. Yes, it was still more than 3 times the price of the Anker. However, and this is obviously a purely personal experience, I found that although the vertical mouse was definitely more comfortable for my wrist I just couldn't get the accuracy, even after 3 months of ~8 hours a day computer use. This was down to me and not the fault of the mouse. However, since I got the Logitech MX Master for Amazon I've fully recovered my close mouse control. So, a vertical mouse is probably not for me, though I don't regret trying one and the 'entry cost' is pretty low.

My job involves lots of mouse most days, and there comes a point every couple of years when I need to swap to a vertical mouse to alleviate RSI symptoms. For years I have relied on an Evoluent mouse, which has consistently sorted me out and kept me going. But it's now more than a little worn out, and I was going to replace it with another, when I saw this mouse at under £10 ( less than 15% the cost! ). Having once bought an Anker laptop battery which was unbelievably excellent, I thought I might as well give it a try.Must say I am again unbelievably impressed. There is no way that this feels or works like a £10 mouse, it is very well made indeed. In fact, I would put it on a par with Evoluent for build quality. It is sculpted a little differently so feels thinner in the hand than the Evoluent, but is approximately the same size and weight.I guess the real test is if it sorts out my RSI, but I've only had it a few days so its too early to say. However, it puts my hand/arm at pretty much the same angle as the Evoluent, so I have good hope that it will.It worked straight out of the box on Windows 10 without any special drivers being installed. It's has a 1000dpi resolution which is slightly higher than I would normally use, meaning that the pointer moves around a bit faster on the screen, but that can be adjusted. The only downside as far as I can see, is that they don't have a left-handed model.In summary, if you're used to an Evoluent, I think you are likely to find this just as good. If you're new to using a vertical mouse, you will find it strange and maybe hard to get used to for a while, but its worth persevering - I for one, have found them a tremendous help in alleviating RSI.

I used to have an Accuratus vertical mouse, but managed to break it, so decided to try a different brand. I can't afford one of the Evoluent ones, so was looking at this price range. I was glad to see the Anker mouse at a good price, and it had good reviews.It is quite comfortable, accurate, and has good resolution. It also feels better made than the slightly cheaper Accuratus models, but it is not as 'natural' feeling to me. For me the buttons are far to low on the side of the unit, and means you drag your outer fingers across the desk. This leaves the weird plastic knob at the top seeming to be rather superfluous, and a bit of a waste of plastic. For my larger hands, the page up/page down buttons are in the wrong place, and practically useless to me. Because the buttons are too low, this also means the scroll wheel is at a strange angle, so you find your finger is dragging across it, rather than a smooth operation. I'm also not sure that it has enough of an angle to assist with RSI problems, but only time will tell on that.Overall, a good device, but I feel it could have been better thought out without causing a cost increase - such as better location of the buttons, less wasted plastic moulding, and a slightly steeper angle. At this price though, it's worth a try if you want to easy wrist pain issues.Notes to add (18/03/13):After my review was posted here, I was contacted very quickly by Anker, who were very keen to resolve the negative points I raised. I have to say they are keen to please and did send me a partial refund to compensate me for the product not meeting my expectations fully. They did offer a no quibble return and full refund, and communicated very promptly - although I have opted to keep it, as it is still better than a flat mouse, even if not entirely perfect as a vertical mouse.Although those points are still valid, I have got more used to it now, and I find it is not too bad now I've been using it for a while - certainly better than a fully flat mouse anyway. It's definitely worth considering - I've upped the rating from 3 to 4 stars, simply for the very good customer service - for which I have to say thank you.

Having stupidly denied an operation to rid of my carpal tunnel a few years back, I am now finding it very difficult to make the time to go and get surgery, I also run a couple of businesses from home and the idea of not being able to use my right arm correctly gives me the heeby-jeebys!I am also a bit of a gamer and invest a lot of my time and money on computers, so I was not expecting this to perform like a pro gaming mouse.I have used this mouse for less than a week which is more than enough time for me to know of any obvious flaws in design and operation.The ergonomics simply work, it was getting to a point of frustration not being able to use a mouse because of the pain caused by my carpal tunnel and apart from other weird sensations carpal tunnel causes, I noticed it most whilst using a mouse.This mouse was bought on a whim and I honestly was not expecting much, but having used it now for this week, I have kind of fallen in love with it. Yes, this mouse is very strange when you first use it and there is a small mental adjustment you have to make compared to a normal mouse.But you will notice immediately that the ergonomics of this mouse allow your hand to rest in a position that does not bother carpal tunnel, I cant say this is a definite cure but it has most certainly reduced my pain by up to 80% and I have found myself staying up much longer than usual getting my work done.The quality of the mouse is good, there is a small issue that where for 1000 clicks or so it won't register a click along with the fact the DPI is much lower meaning it is much less accurate than my other mouse but these small niggles are noting and I would prefer them than the constant pain from my carpal tunnel.For less than a tenner, it's definitely worth a punt to see if you feel more comfortable.In fact, I would go as far to say that this is a much more natural position for your arm to sit and feel this should be the default shape of mouses.Also, 1 other annoying thing. If you are like me and you work from home and like to slide left to right on the desk, working on computer, picking something up to write and a bit of a fidget, you will find your self-moving your hand to the left of the mouse as if you are going over it and knocking it down as it is higher than your usual mouse, again another small thing you have to adjust to.I buy a lot of ANKER things, some of them have lasted a long time whilst others, not so much.Fingers crossed this stays alive for a good time.

I suffer strained wrist, so bought this mouse as it's one of the cheapest vertical mouse. Have bought stuff from Anker before so I was expecting another good quality product.The first impression was good. The build quality is nice. The surface is matte and has a good texture. The sensitivity is very high compared to my old Logitech mouse, and has a button that switch between high and low sensitivities.The shape of the mouse gets a bit used to. It's a little too tall for my hands, but still much better than the old one.The only downside I noticed so far is the poor scroll wheel. When scrolling down, it sometimes scroll up instead. When scroll a click by click, it can go up and down all the time. This is really annoying and severely hampers the effort Anker has put into it. In contrast the old Logitech mouse never misses a click when scrolling.Overall, it's a keeper. But if a good scroll wheel is essential for you I'd recommend stay away from this mouse.[Update] After used it for a few days, the scrolling wheel problem is now becoming unbearable. I would NOT recommend this mouse until they fix the quality problem.[Update 2] Anker customer service team contacted me states the batch I bought had this scroll wheel problem and they recalled the whole batch. They offered a full refund AND a replacement, which I agreed.The new mouse arrived quickly after they said it became available. Now the scroll wheel works fine. The high DPI of the mouse is perfect for the shiny surface of my work table. My old Logitech mouse struggle to track on it. Switchable DPI is a plus too.Overall cannot complain. Kudos on Anker's customer service team to resolve the problem very quickly. I recommend both this mouse and Anker.

The best mouse I ever owned was a trackball, about 20 years ago. But I was lucky and found it very cheap, they normally cost a fortune. Second-best was probably the "nipple" built into an IBM Thinkpad.But out of the dozens of regular mice I've owned and used over the years, this is the best one! It's weird to use, for about a week then it fits like a glove. Much less strain than a normal mouse, they seem to have invented it to fit human hands and fingers properly, your fingers click and move it with a normal range of movement. Mice weren't originally invented with ergonomics in mind, and the history since the 1960s has just been them copying each other.But not these. The weird sideways design is really good! It's comfy, and I play a lot of games and do a lot of mousing. They're a good price, have 2 bonus buttons on the side, and a resolution-switch button as well. With a completely free program called X-Mouse Button Control, you can redefine the side buttons if you want to, I have mine as volume controls. But you don't have to.It's a good idea and they've made it well, would recommend.

It's an okay mouse, but I'd rather chose a smaller one. This is my first vertical mouse and, as such, I wasn't sure what I was going to get... I am not totally convinced, but that is probably because of its form factor. It is comfortable for use for brief periods, but not for long ones and this might be because of different reasons like being too big for my hand (18.5cm or 7.2" from top of middle finger to wrist base), lack of good grip and/or stiff buttons. I suspect the first to be the main culprit. As It is too big, I have to place my wrist slightly above my mouse pad, not being in a totally rest position...this, after long periods of use, makes my wrists aching. I'm guessing that if it had a little platform for my wrist to sit on, the size of it wouldn't probably be such an issue as I would not have to make a big effort to use it comfortably.However, if you do want to try a vertical mouse, this is an excellent first choice due to its price and build quality. It ended up being not quite as comfortable as I was hoping, but it could be just fine for you.EDIT: I've updated my review to 3 stars as 2 might have been too low and also because Anker promptly e-mailed me asking if I would like a refund or another newer mouse. I went with the latter. Excellent customer support, Anker - well done!

I actually bought a wireless version first but the batteries never lasted long (and they were Duracell+ so good ones) and it kept tracking all over the place, so I thought a wired one would be better, I was right.It has no issues at all and is so very comfy to use.I play computer games a lot and type a lot for work, so having your hands in a natural position reduces the strain on your wrists and forearms. It’s noticeably different from a traditional mouse but very easy to learn.The buttons are all where you’d expect them to be and it also has a scroll wheel which is needed for some games.My nephew came to stay and commented on how brilliant the mouse was to use, and how much he liked it.It lights up white when in use, and is red when in standby mode. Not much use for this, but it is pretty 😄We’ve had it for well over 3 years and it still works exactly the same, I’m thrilled with it and could never go back to a traditional one.

Light, comfortable, feels like good quality, no need of a mouse pad.I don't have particular small hands but this mouse is slightly too big for me.

Seconda volta che acquisto un mouse verticale Anker, e fu proprio grazie a loro che anni fa acquistai il primo esemplare di questa tipologia, quando ancora non erano così largamente diffusi.L'ergonomia rispetto al primo mouse verticale che ho preso è migliorata molto, soprattutto nella parte alta, quella di impugnatura tra pollice e indice. Dà un senso di presa più ferma, di angolazione leggermente più verticale e quindi più confortevole. Il tasto di regolazione dpi è in una posizione migliore rispetto al modello precedente che l'aveva posizionato sotto la rotellina, ora è molto più convenientemente posizionato in alto, lontano dai tasti dx, sx e dalla rotella.Un poco più indietreggiati i tastini di navigazione avanti-indietro, ma sempre molto fruibili e accessibili.Lo stra-consiglio come acquisto, fa tutto quello che serve, è un sollievo grande per chi ci lavora al pc per ore, e la sensazione è di avere un prodotto di qualità ed ergonomia persino migliore rispetto ad altri brand più costosi.

Very comfortable with a nice feel.I have smaller hands and it suit me much better than a more expensive mouse that I have.My writs can rest comfortably and I find it easy adapting from my regular mouse to this new shape.

Systématiquement en fin de journée j'avais mal à cet endroit et parfois encore plusieurs heures après avoir arrêté... Après quelques recherches je suis tombé sur ce produit qui semblait prometteur.Après 1 mois et demi d'utilisation je peux dire que je suis pleinement satisfait, les douleurs ont presque totalement disparues.Avec un peu d'entraînnement j'arrive même à jouer (HoTS, Hotline miami...) avec cette souris verticale, alors que ce n'est clairement pas fait pour (d'ailleurs les boutons supplémentaires sont bien pratiques pour lancer des raccourcis en jeu). Certes on perd en précision sur les mouvements puisque la main ne repose plus (ou presque plus) sur la table, mais ça reste pour moi acceptable au vu du gain en confort.Avec le recul je trouve la position de la main bien plus naturelle que sur une souris classique.J'ai des mains assez grandes mais finalement cette souris est de taille parfaite, je peux allonger complètement mes doigts sur les touches et je n'ai donc plus à les plier comme avant.Les boutons sont agréables et font autant de bruit que n'importe quelle souris.La souris est recouverte d'un plastique soft-touch très agréable.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬N'hésitez pas à voter "commentaire utile" si ma critique vous a plu 😉
