Forever and Then Some

I discovered Lillie Mae on Spotify. What made me take a chance on her was the album cover. It just oozed all of "play me." So I did and I was in for a shock. As most people do, I judged a book by its cover. I truly did not expect to hear country/bluegrass music. Lillie Mae 'looks' like a soul pop type artist- which is a genre of music that I really enjoy- although I listen to MANY different genres of music, country being one of them. So alas, I was expecting to hear soul pop. However, I was still thoroughly entertained by this album. I was pretty sure by the third or fourth song that I was going to buy it. So far, my favorite tracks include "Wash Me Clean," "Honest and True," "Forever and Then Some," "Over The Hill and Through The Woods," and "To Go Wrong." Though don't get me wrong, all the songs are gems. Spotify has really opened up my eyes to a lot of different music artists. Otherwise, I wouldn't be on Amazon buying some of these albums. Spotify + Amazon = dream team! Great debut album by Lillie Mae! Yes!

I loved Lillie Mae and her siblings on their Jypsi CD, so when I saw that she had a solo CD out, I had to have it. While not quite a catchy as Jypsi, it's still a great listen. No "stinker" tracks like some CDs.

Lillie Mae has paid her dues in the music biz since she was 3 years old, and that experience and maturity shows in the songwriting on this release. It is such a joy to listen to the depth and maturity of this album from someone who is so young but who has so much experience.

Fantastic album, heavy vinyl, beautiful album art. This is real Nashville, fans of genuine country music take note.

Beautiful voice - Lovely songs

This sounds fresh and traditional at the same time. Her voice is outstanding, the songs are melodic and the lyrics are poetic. There's also some beautiful mandolin work throughout the album.

Das Debüt des musikalischen Wunderkindes aus dem Stall von Jack White ist ein Beweis dafür, dass moderne Countrymusic weder altbacken noch hinterwäldlerisch sein muss. Lillie Mae zeigt in ihrem, von der ebenso musikalischen Famile unterstützen Erstling ihr Können nicht nur an Fiddle und Gitarre, sondern auch in selbstbewussten, immer leicht melancholischem Songwriting ohne sich in Country-Klischees zu verlieren. Leider kann die Qualität der Vinylausgabe nicht mit der Musik mithalten. Die Aufnahme ist allzu dumpf und wird Maes wundervoller Stimme nicht gerecht! Dafür gibt es mindestens einen Stern Abzug. Schade eigentlich, da hätte ich von Third Man Records mehr erwartet. Eine Downloadmöglichkeit für eine digitale-Version sucht man zudem vergeblich.

During my first trip to Nashville in Feb. 2017 I wandered into Layla's on Broadway on a Thursday afternoon and happened to see Lillie Mae perform with two of her sisters and was blown away! They were fantastic! When I heard Lillie Mae was coming out with this album I purchased it and it did not disappoint. The songs are well crafted, well produced, and the musicianship, which includes her brother Frank on guitar, is impeccable. The best part of the album, though, are Lillie Mae's vocals, which are out of this world- ranging from high octane to in your face to a fragile sweetness. Even if bluegrass and country aren't your thing, this album deserves to be listened to, it may change your mind. Favourites include Wash Me Clean, To Go Wrong, and These Daze. Can't wait for the next one!

"New Outlaw Country Music" - Just a terrific record from start to finish, Lillie Mae's honest songwriting, her fiddle playing and the bands authentic sound is a liserning treat whether your a Country / Americana fan or not. It was recorded at Jack Whites 'Third Man Studio' ( she sung duet on his song Temporary Ground ). Hopefully her recent London Promo Gig will lead to a future tour and a chance to reach live music lovers in Britain. Fortunately theres many live studio sessions to catch online.

Good music by upcoming star, recommended if you like countryish music with a fresh twist.

Great debut album. If you like country music, you may like this. Traditional instruments, amazing vocals and great lyrics make for an enjoyable album.
