Good aircraft
It’s beautifully made, well balanced. My little boy is super delighted when he saw it. It’s super easy to assemble and the price was reasonable. Lots of fun

A nice easy kit with decent details.
I’ve literally never built a model kit in my life. I always thought it meant hours of cutting, gluing, painting, and ending up with something covered in fingerprints, so I stayed miles away. Saw this “Quick Build” Spitfire with the cool D-Day stripes and thought “why not?” Worst case it goes in the bin, right? Turns out it’s basically adult Lego. Everything is pre-coloured plastic, you just pop the parts off the sprues (no tools needed) and click them together. Took me about 25 minutes while sitting on the sofa watching TV. No glue, no paint, no mess whatsoever. The stickers were surprisingly easy to line up and they stick properly. When it was done I was genuinely shocked how good it looks. The black-and-white invasion stripes are crisp, the propeller spins, and it feels really solid. It’s now sitting on my bedroom shelf and looks way more impressive than the price suggests. Only giving it four stars because the little plastic stand is a bit plain (it works fine, just nothing fancy) and there’s no tiny pilot in the cockpit, which would’ve been a nice touch. If you’ve never touched a model kit before and just want something cool to display without any hassle, this is perfect. I’m seriously tempted to grab a few more now that I can finish in an evening. Total win for a complete beginner!

Nice set
Nice set Thank you

A great self-building kit for young ones
I bought this for my 6-year-old nephew, who already has everything a child could wish for, and therefore is a challenge to buy for at Christmas. This quick-build kit was a hit. It did require some adult support in assembling, but it was a fun activity he could do in about half an hour with a bit of support, and then lots of fun playing with the plane once assembled. The plane was approximately smartphone-sized in length and a good size for small hands, whilst not being too small. Would recommend.

Great size model
Kids really enjoyed making it. Added bonus is that there bigger than they look.

An attractive model of an iconic aircrft
This is a push-fit model based on the Lego principle. It is cunningly designed in coloured plastic pieces which when assembled give a convincing camouflage finish without any painting. The propeller does tend to fall off as it is just a push-fit in its bearing. This necessitates removal of the engine cowling and reinsertion of the propeller and bearing. There is a risk that the bearing could easily be lost as it is a very small item. I cured this problem by putting a very small dab of glue on the bearing before attaching the propeller (the propeller still rotates freely). There are no guns or gun ports on the model although the box shows a Spitfire with all guns blazing. There are however wheels in the retracted position. It would have been a nice touch to have included a pilot to go in the cockpit. My 5 year old grandson and I assembled the kit in about an hour. He identified each piece and where it should go. I pressed the pieces together as some finger strength is needed to ensure a robust assembly. I stuck the decals on, as they are a bit tricky to get in the right position. There are about 36 parts to assemble in a similar number of steps. The pictorial instructions are generally clear, though the colour printing has a slightly muddy appearance for some reason. This is an attractive model of a beautiful, iconic aircraft at a reasonable price.

OK, but some issues that spoil the experience
As should be obvious, the kit is "LEGO", but for various reasons LEGO isn't patented, so this is a look a like. The quality is far too good to call it a knock off, and the end product only shows signs of the construction method in the clear cockpit cover. This is so obvious that in the product photo the cockpit cover has been painted black to disguise the fact. Bought this on offer and compared to LEGO is not only better value, but a better value. But the negatives; Thinking that the box had perforations from the hanger, my grandson tore the box open and tore up the instructions, first cause of Christmas dismay but not Airfixes fault. The assembly instructions which are entirely visual, are colour on colour and for me at least at 75 are difficult to see particularly to identify parts and exact positioning. The parts need some adult force to click into place, in an attempt to avoid gaps, which fails are so closely molded that they are difficult to position at times. The propellor is 'held' in place by a single round "LEGO" brick, single connection that is and this is not secure and falls off requiring disassembly to repair, this means the propellor really won't spin, or if spun is likely to come apart. Which is LEGOs ® major problem, falling apart. The shape of some of the parts meant that bits of the part weren't necessarily locked in place. Lastly; and most annoying; with the drop tank (I say) or bomb (my grandson says) in place the stand won't fit in place, and obviously visa versa. Spent a long time puzzling this and don't think that it's an error on our part. Crazy.

I'm impressed with this toy. It is built like a Lego but the result is near perfect. It's big, resistent, light and super cool. Had a fight with my 4 year old son because I can't stop playing with it.

Estupendo.

I was looking for an intermediate scale between 1/32 and 1/48 to go with my 1/32 WW2 figures and 1/38 scale vehicles and this worked perfectly. The wingspan measures exactly 10 inches so this puts the scale right at 1/39. It was easy to assemble even for an old 66 year old like me, not having built a model in over 40 years. Took me maybe 30 minutes? I definitely needed the instructions though. I think this model could have been made with fewer pieces. Once together I noticed the wing assembly was not that solid so I glued the smaller pieces that make up the wings. I also glued the little red knob to the propeller to keep the propeller from popping off once assembled. Once I applied the decals I then sprayed a few coats of Krylon clear coat to permanently adhere the decals. Will definitely get the P51 and Spitfire models.
