Very good muzzle. We have 2 cockapoo’s who are getting slightly old and grumpy with other high energy dogs, and a new puppy with a family member where the dogs stayed for a few days was going to be a problem. These muzzles ensured that they could all have free roam of the property and not cause any issues to each other. We bought 2 of them, a Size 5 just fit one dog but the other was slightly small on our other dog, so returned and bought a size 6 which was perfect. The issue was her snout touched the end of the muzzle on the smaller size and it wouldn’t have been comfortable for longer periods of use. Our dogs were able to pant and drink from their water bowl without issue so ok for a sustained period of time. They’re easy to use with just a clip round the back of the head that allows for adjustment of the strap. There’s a padded strip that sits on top of the snout for comfort. For the task we required them for which was mainly bite prevention, they worked perfectly. Price wise they’re very good value. Overall they’re more than suitable for the task, and I’d just size up if you are unsure which size to get for your dog.

My whippet inherently doesn’t like things on his face, but with some training he tolerates this quite nicely & only fusses over it on occasion. The little felty patch on the top helps to protect his snoot from being rubbed by plastic. 4 stars for comfort because it doesn’t allow for pant room so we wouldn’t be able to use this in the summer or if he does any real amount of running. Most dogs wouldn’t be able to use this for one winter walk without being restricted.

Good myzzle

The size 7 muzzle was a good fit for my tiny labrador (21kg with a very small head - people often ask if she’s a cross). I followed the online guide for measuring her head, and it worked well. I bought the muzzle to try to stop my dog eating things while out in a walk (grass, leaves, bits of stick, dead birds, and worst of all, poo) and it should have worked well - she was able to pant and run around easily and it fitted well and once I’d tightened it properly it didn’t come off in spite of her efforts. We quickly worked out a way for me to feed her treats through a hole in the side. However... it didn’t completely stop her eating poo or grass - she just mashed her nose into it until some found its way through the muzzle. Cleaning it afterwards was... not fun... But I would have persisted, expect that she managed to rub a hole in the skin above her nose which bled. She tried so hard to remove the muzzle, rubbing against the ground, that despite the felt-lined padded layer inside, she scraped a nasty sore patch the first time she wore it on a walk. And again, a few weeks later, when we had another go. This would be suitable for occasional use e.g. at the vet for a touchy rescue dog, for a dog on the lead where you can stop them rubbing it, or for a more laid back dog who won’t scar themselves trying to get it off, but has been a failure here.

Bought for our 43kg black lab who eats 'everything'. He's been wearing 'Baskerville' size 9 muzzles for years but it's been very noticeable cos it's beige and he's a very friendly dog. Thought a black muzzle would be better, BUT this Ancol version is slightly smaller both in length and depth so is too short (rubs his nose) and limits him opening his mouth. Also the nose guard at the front is not removable so it's more difficult to clean and the strap & clip are flimsier. Have used it once but he also found it very easy to remove! Unfortunately it's back to a beige 'Baskerville'!! There's no way this would fit a Great Dane or St Bernard!

We bought this muzzle for our rescue border collie for her own protection really so she was not put in a situation with a new dog where she felt like she needed to react. We were worried that her measurements put her between sizes as she has a very long snout but a very small circumference so we went for the larger size 5 thinking that it would probably need to be returned as too big around the nose but were pleasantly surprised to find it was a perfect fit. Length wise the muzzle was just about the right length but we removed the insert and now it is perfect. It was very lightweight and easy to fit and the dog was not bothered by it at all - I think that may be because she is used to a figure 8 head collar being around her face. It allows her to open her mouth and pant without restriction. Seems like good quality and could definitely save her from reacting and causing harm whilst we get her used to a new dog as she can snap when anxious. A very good value muzzle and, for us, a great fit if you read the sizing instructions and remember to buy according to the nose length.

I do rate this muzzle. It’s a bit flimsy and prone to breaking but the upside of this is that it is lightweight, unlike other brands, and when dealing with a dog as small as the wearer of this it is totally unnecessary for the cage to be too sturdy and super tough and therefore heavy and make the dog uncomfortable. The buckle is a bit fiddly again because it is flimsy and tends to splay out. I’m on my third muzzle now because they are not well made and break however it is the comfiest brand I have found for my dog and it will last ok if you are careful with it and they are cheap to replace, so that makes sense with the not so great quality. A shame the buckle isn’t a little better. I like the padding too. My dog is a 10kg dachshund cross with a long nose and wears size 4. He doesn’t love having it on but will forget about it on walks. If I had a heavier and more dangerous dog I wouldn’t go for this brand but something stronger.

Très légère, elle ne gêne pas le chien et reste confortable même lors de longues sorties. La taille 7 convient parfaitement à un chien croisé Border Collie / Labrador d’environ 26 kg. Un petit point à améliorer : ajouter une protection en feutre à l’intérieur, sur l’avant de la muselière, pour éviter les irritations ou blessures au niveau du nez.
