Hynes Eagle Printed Emoji Backpack Black

First and foremost, I thought this was just going to be one of those unstructured nylon backpacks with no shape when nothing is in it, but I couldn't have been more wrong.This is a heavy duty backpack, with complete structure (meaning it stands up and holds its shape even when empty, padded adjustable straps and padding on the BACK of the backpack, and really great construction and stitching throughout. I have a nine year old daughter, and she gravitates towards brightly patterned backpacks, so it's been hard to find her something quirky that's still well-made and not just meant as a novelty backpack.She LOVES this backpack- the minute it came out of the box, she immediately transferred all her stuff from her old backpack (from Pottery Barn Kids) to this one. She carries A LOT of stuff (some necessary and some not) and all her things fit neatly into the backpack. She's also able to get her laptop in there, when she goes overnight to her grandparents. This pack holds a lot- it is a traditional backpack size, not one of those tiny ones that you can only fit a handful of things inside.The Emojis are really cute, especially if you like that. The colors are bright and the fabric is durable throughout.I have to admit, I'm VERY surprised at the quality of this backpack. Especially the extra padding around the back. HIGHLY recommended.

**UPDATE** The seller sent me a replacement backpack which is very nice of them, so I am upgrading my rating to a 4 star.I would still urge the seller to improve the backpack design, e.g. to put long tails on the lift-handle strap and sew those tails into the wall of the backpack, so the lift-handle doesn't rip out as it did on my original backpack).--Prior review--I really wanted to like this backpack, and I do think it is cute.Unfortunately the lift-handle on this backpack is already tearing off, and we only recently got it. And my adopted daughter isn't over-packing it. It really should be heavier duty/higher quality.I now have to deal with hand-stitching the handle back on, ugh. Next time, please reinforce the parts that carry stress, manufacturer!!!

I bought this product in the beginning of March. Its currently April 28 so not even 2 months and already this backpack seams are ripping apart. Its really sad because my son really likes his emoji backpack. I had read the reviews and for the most part it felt like this was a good quality product whats worst is that the window for a refund or return has closed. I would suggest putting in the money to buy a good quality brand instead. This is not the first backpack that I bought trying to save some $ and they started falling apart within the 1st month. This backpack is awesome! Super cute and functional. Seems really well made. The fabric is thick, the stitching looks good and tight. The small pocket on the front doesn't have any gussets or anything, so it lies flat, which means you can't stuff a lot in there, but it works well enough. I appreciate that the zippers open and close smoothly. I wish it had 2 separate large compartments instead of the one big one, but that's a personal thing because I like to keep my son's snowpants and shoes separate from his schoolwork. It wasn't a deal breaker, though, because everything else is great. There aren't any "offensive" emojis, so it's OK for little kids.

My daughter really wanted this for school & I was VERY hesitant. I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. It's feels sturdy & the zippers all slide with ease. I'm glad she opted for the black, because I think it would've been gross after 1 day on the bus. She has a lot more stuff to carry this year as a 5th grader & it's holding up really well. She can fit 5 folders, 3 composition books, 1-2 library books, a pencil box, lunchbox, & lightweight jacket inside. I seriously doubt this will be big enough next year though. My only complaint is that the side pockets (we use them for a water bottle) aren't very deep or wide. She hasn't had any issues with anything falling out, so I guess they're working. I just think it'd be easier to get in & out if the pockets were a little bigger. Overall she's happy & I'm glad I didn't waste $ on a junky back pack.

Bought this bag for my son who entered the 6th grade and I must say this book bag is holding up well considering he stuffs it to capacity with heavy books so that shows its very sturdy which is a plus and further more it's a book bag that is different from what other kids are wearing my son gets complimets on this bag and most importantly it stands out so if there were ever a situation where he couldn't find his bag from others at school having this book bag will definitely set them a part from the rest

My son didn't know which one to get, the Emoji or the USD one, made by the same company. I thought this one is more appropriate for a 5th grader, and I am glad I bought it. Its quality surpasses my expectations. The extra padding all over and especially on the back is great, the printing looks awesome and it fits a 2 & 3/4" Hydroflask 18 oz. bottle perfect, on both sides. It doesn't come with many pockets, but offers plenty of space for books and papers, and also a lunch bag. It is lightweight and the perfect size for a school age kid, even a teenager.Update 2015-09-25: A 5th grader doesn't carry heavy books yet, so I've decided to remove 3 out of the 5 stars from this product rating. The handle and one of the straps started to tear out after only 6 weeks of school. Not acceptable at this price! I never bought 2 backpacks in a school year for any of my kids during K-5 grades. I am glad I didn't buy more of these backpacks for my nephews.

Got this for my 4th grader. Likes: wide, well padded straps. Side pokets will hold fairly large and tall water containers comfortably. Not so likes: only 1 main section to body. Zipper is to the front, crsting an awkward ledge. There is a pretty useless pocket on the front ( lower 1/3rd) of pack. No additional clips, hooks, geegaws etc. it is a basic backpack. She does love all the emoticons. She has in black and white. I like gormer better as emoticons seem crisper due to contrast

My daughter loves this backpack. It was nice to find one that is trendy, but that all the other kids wouldn't have. There is one main compartment, and 4 small outer ones. It is just big enough for her to get the things she needs (a few books and a lunch bag and water bottle) to and from school. If kids needed to lug more, this bag may not be quite big enough to handle it.

My daughter loves it! It is on the small side of standard school bags but we still fit everything- hat, jumper, lunch box, water bottle and one homework book

The backpack keeps shape when there is nothing in the bag and has lasted almost a year now. It still looks brand new.

Good and sturdy backpack. Great quality, actually surprise how well its made. Good size for school, fits snow pants,lunch and books no problem.

Great bag. Daughter loves it. Envy of the class. Good quality materials will last. Lol
