THINKWARE iVolt Xtra External Dash Cam Battery Pack (7500 mAh)

Product so far is holding up for +24 hours after I shut off my vehicle. Installation will depend on your car and if you have a camera already installed. It took me about 2 hours to remove the old wiring(obd2 powered) and replace it with the new wires (hard wired kit required). I don't like the idea of getting another app just to check the battery charge level. An lcd or lights should work fine. To indicate charge level. Thinkware should specify estimated times for different camera configurations in different modes.

When this THINKWARE iVolt Xtra was first installed, it immediately blew a fuse in my glove compartment, causing the charging connection to stop working. After replacing the fuse, everything seemed to work normally for a while. About four months later, the battery completely stopped charging. I tested the incoming power connection with a multimeter and confirmed that the unit was receiving full power, so the issue wasn't the vehicle's wiring or power supply. The iVolt Xtra itself simply would not charge anymore. For something this expensive that's specifically designed to provide reliable power to a dash cam, failing after only a few months is completely unacceptable. Between blowing a fuse shortly after installation and then dying altogether four months later, I can't recommend this product. Complete trash and a huge disappointment.

works great with the U3000. I like app control

Works, fora short time, I have gone through 3 batteries in about 4 Months. The last onde failed by OUTPUTTING 12.9V on the INPUT side of the battery, backfeeding power into the vehicle causing the lights to stay on and causing tons of errors on the dash and seen via ODB scan. These units are absolute junk. And thinkware support is a joke.

When it works it's a great battery with cool features. That said the fact that the hard wiring kit is not included is a bit strange since it is required. The first battery I received would blow the fuze when connected to input power so had to get that replaced and looking at the comments I'm not the only one that experienced this exact issue. Once past all that though it's got a large capacity and works well with the U3000 Pro. If the QC issues get addressed it would be a definite 5 star product.

Read and research a lot before purchasing. I had to buy the hardwire kit and 12v plug to get this working in my setup with a U3000.

Pretty frustrating purchasing something expensive and receiving a defective battery. Once the input power was connected into the battery it would blow out the fuse immediately.

I returned this product because it was clearly used, the battery exterior had scratches and scuffs and it was missing installation pieces.

This product is a great product for park mode .
