He's chilling as the futuristic cyborg that kills without fear, without love, without mercy. James Cameron's story and direction are pared to the bone and are all the more chillingly effective for it. But don't overlook the contribution of Linda Hamilton, who more than holds her own as the Terminator's would-be victim, Sarah Connor, thus creating--along with Sigourney Weaver in Alien--a new generation of rugged, clear-thinking female action stars. The film's minimalist, malevolent violence is actually scarier than that of its far more expensive, more effects-laden sequel. --Anne Hurley, desertcart.comTerminator 2: Judgment DayArguably the finest movie of its kind, Terminator 2: Judgment Day captured Arnold Schwarzenegger at the very apex of his Hollywood celebrity and James Cameron at the peak of his perfectionist directorial powers. Nothing the star did subsequently measured up to his iconic performance here, spouting legendary catchphrases and wielding weaponry with unparalleled cool; and while the director had an even bigger hit with the bloated and sentimental Titanic, few followers of his career would deny that Cameron's true forte has always been sci-fi action. With an incomparably bigger budget than its 1984 precursor, T2 essentially reworks the original scenario with envelope-stretching special effects and simply more, more, more of everything. Yet, for all its scale, T2 remains at heart a classic sci-fi tale: robots running amok, time travel paradoxes and dystopian future worlds are recurrent genre themes, which are here simply revitalised by Cameron's glorious celebration of the mechanistic. From the V-twin roar of a Harley Fat Boy to the metal-crunching Steel Mill finale, the director's fascination with machines is this movie's strongest motif: it's no coincidence that the character with whom the audience identifies most strongly is a robot. Now that impressive but unengaging CGI effects have come to over-dominate sci-fi movies (think of The Phantom Menace), T2's pivotal blending of extraordinary live-action stuntwork and FX looks more and more like it will never be equalled. --Mark WalkerTerminator 3: Rise of the MachinesTerminator 3: Rise of the Machines starts in high gear and never slows down. The apocalyptic "Judgment Day" of Terminator 2 was never prevented, only postponed: John Connor (Nick Stahl, replacing T2's Edward Furlong), now 22 and disconnected from society, is being pursued yet again, this time by the advanced T-X, a sleek "Terminatrix" (coldly expressionless Kristanna Loken) programmed to stop Connor from becoming the saviour of humankind. Originally programmed as an assassin, a disadvantaged T-101 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger, bidding fond farewell to his signature role) arrives from the future to join Connor and future wife Kate (Claire Danes) in thwarting the T-X's relentless pursuit. The plot presents a logical fulfilment of T2's prophecy, disposing of Connor's mother (Linda Hamilton is sorely missed) while computer-driven machines assume control, launching a nuclear nightmare that Connor must survive. With Breakdown and U-571 serving as rehearsals for this cautionary epic of mass destruction, director Jonathan Mostow wisely avoids any stylistic connection to James Cameron's classics; instead he's crafted a fun, exciting popcorn thriller, humorous and yet still effectively nihilistic, and comparable to Jurassic Park III in returning the Terminator franchise to its potent B-movie roots. --Jeff Shannon Terminator Salvation SynopsisSet in the post-apocalyptic 2018, with Christian Bale starring as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind. Review: Dvd box set - Very good service and good quality Review: 5*, if you can get it at a decent price - You hardly need to be told about the Terminator series... So I shan't bother, much. T3 is the lame duck of the series. SFX - seen it all before; story - seen it all before. Meh, OK (desertcart's 3* rating) & no more. T1 was ground-breaking, T2 took the SFX to another CGI level, whilst playing intelligently around the original story. T3 - meh. T4 is the hidden gem. I hadn't seen it before I acquired this a few years ago. I was expecting T3 only more so. It's rather better. The SFX aren't special any more, you saw it all with T1 & T2. Arnie has the briefest of cameos; blink & you'll miss it; but T4 isn't about him. If the SFX are not in any way new, the story is surprisingly good. And gritty. I can't remember how much I paid for this when it was still new directly from desertcart, but T1 & T2 are definitely 5* films. If you can pick this up for less than the combined cost of the first two, then however many you really want, this is absolutely 5* value for money. If you only want T1 & T2, then it's probably cheaper to get them. But that'd mean you miss out on T4, which is borderline 4 / 5*. No there isn't really anything by way of extras with this, but you've 3 worthwhile films on DVD in decent quality. And another one that's OK!

cheap to buy & cheaply made
You should already know if you like the films by now... 1 & 2 great the third is gash and the forth made a bit f a come back. However if your looking for a quality box-set, this isn't it. Little to no extras, the case is cheap thin plastic, two of the disc studs that hold the DVDs broke when i took the films out to watch, they rattle around now. And the sleeve and card cover look like they have been printed by a child on a school printer. The images have been blown up to such a size that they have that pixelated, I'd expect more from a chimp with a crayon. To sum-up 3 great films, no extras and a tacky box.

The best series of terminator movies all together for the first time
I have been a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies for many years now and having this particular Terminator Quadrogy on blue ray has to be the best birthday present I ever received so far All the main terminator movies are in this but remasters with many extras as well as upgraded to blu ray does make a difference not just to the picture/display quality but also having it all available in High definition compared to dvd and even the sound quality is much better in my view If you are a fan of science fiction, action packed series of movies you have to get this into your blu ray collection It’s well worth picking up Especially if you want to have the very best of the terminator movies I have very fond memories of watching the very first terminator movie and thinking back then they be more of them and especially after watching the first one also thinking when is the next one coming out What also made the terminator movies more Realistic for me was putting such awesome actors/actress in the main roles of terminator and the Sarah Connor the women who would eventually be the mother of the human restiance leader in the near future

I'll be back (to order genisys)
Great box set T1&2 are classics, T3 is ok, I don't mind it as much as some people seem to (although I'm a big fan of summer glau so obviously I prefer the Sarah Connor chronicles timeline) but t4... It's as bad as everyone says! I've got quite a good surround sound system and T4 just seems to add bass and noise to unneeded things, (for dramatic effect or something) and it just annoyed me so much I turned down my sub, first time I've ever had to do that. As for T4 story, I found myself playing with my phone halfway through the film and losing interest, I had to force myself to persevere to the end. It doesn't feel as if it's part of the terminator universe, should have just been a stand alone robot film. All in all a great box set of 3 terminator films and one film to ignore :)

Excellent films
All 4 Terminator films are good and so too will future ones be probably. In order of greatness I would say Terminator 2 is the best, Terminator Salvation the second best, Terminator 3 the third best then The Terminator after thst. Terminator 2 is classic and emotional and Terminator Salvation is a good action film. Terminator 3 still has Arnie so that is good and The Terminator is last because it was a bit lacking with special effects. Watch these films, they're good. Here's hoping for more terminator films to be released in the future plus a The Terminator UK Blu-Ray Release!

Best way to start the day!
Classic collection of the best! Well worth it, in high definition blue ray, part of the entire Terminator series. You will watch again and again.

A great film series
First off I do understand that many people are not fans of the Terminator franchise after the 2nd film but for me the films are all of a good quality (no doubt that the first 2 are the best in the series) and deliver plenty of action whilst trying to evolve the story (not always hitting the mark perfectly) making for a franchise I really enjoy.

So... I am genuinely pumped to say THIS PLAYS IN REGION 1/A players aka north america.... I can't speak for all copies... however the one I ordered does play. It contains what is generally considered the best blu ray versions of terminator 1 and 2 (minus one version with Arnold on the front and the T2 on the cover around him - slightly higher video rating online). Most of the special features are here - a few missing on T2... but for the price... cannot be beat. Be excited and fulfill your exploding robot needs

Great movie and great restoration! But sadly, had to go to the UK to get the 3D version (I know - who cares about 3D, but it's cool in 3D). Still, worth having both. I've watched this alone and with my son for years.

Beautiful Quality, 3 out of 4 good movies! Thought Terminator 3 had some up-scaling issues, but that was it. The first 2 though, my word, it was like watching them all over again. They were crystal clear on my 65" 1080p TV. I would recommend this to a terminator fan that just wants to upgrade their collection.
