Law Abiding Citizen [DVD]

Thriller starring Gerard Butler as Clyde Shelton, an ordinary family man whose life is blown apart when his wife and daughter are brutally murdered during an attack on their home. When a plea bargain sets his family's killers free, Shelton sees no choice but to take the law into his own hands, and in the name of justice he embarks on a killing spree that only one man can bring an end to: Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), the assistant district attorney who brokered the deal. Taut, tense and violent story of revenge. Excellent imho.

Thinking about going to bed, this film started late on Film 4. Thought I'd watch the beginning out of curiosity as I have never seen Gerard Butler in a bad film to date. However, once it started, I could not leave the film; it was really gripping. I agree, this film is not for anyone who is adverse to extreme violence, but taken in its entirety, the violence is in keeping with the story and the mindset of the character that Gerard Butler plays. Jamie Foxx and Colm Meaney are also extremely good and the interaction of characters in the story is well done. This is a clever film that is gripping, psychological, thrilling, full of unexpected twists and keeps you not only on the edge of your seat, but guessing right to the end; an ending, which is unexpected! I am not going to go over the story, that is apparent in the film's write-up, but I will say this, if you enjoy a really good psychological thriller and can accept violence in its context of the story, then for 109 minutes you will be immersed in a film that does not let you leave it!

Gerard Butler, is a stunning looking man, though I do think he often looks as if he's wearing a really naff wig! ;O) I admit to only watching this after having seen "300," and saw it on the box a while back and enjoyed it so much that I thought I'd buy this, as it's such a reasonable price. For me, this is a must see film as it deals, albeit, in a rather fantastical way, with a subject matter that a number of people would feel needs addressing, i.e. that the victims of crime, so often, do not feel they're getting justice for crimes committed against or around them.. But, in exception to the sort of mindless glorification of vigilantism which has graced our screens for decades, this takes things one step further and has the protagonist going against going up against the system as well as the criminals.. I, for one, was absolutely captivated by it and more than a little shocked on occasion, as apart from one, or two ridiculous scenarios, it remains rooted in some sort of possibility.. I'd thoroughly recommend this film.

You can understand just how the victim felt, being let down big time by his lawyer who made a deal with the murderer. I am not condoning this action but i would imagine there are many people who would want justice to be rendered on the low-life who murdered his wife and little girl. Cleverly filmed and a good plot ;it kept you thinking right up to the end.

This is ONE everlife movie. It's an amazing plot finely emoted and directed. It's also unfortunately heavily censored, but the plot comes through despite the best efforts of the cbfc to defeat it. A MUST WATCH!!!

Un excellent film, une vengeance machiavélique. A voir et à revoir, je recommande, ne serait ce que pour les acteurs à fond dans leurs personnages.
