Yes, all Greenworks 40v batteries regardless of the amp hour (Ah) size can be used in this charger.

is this a smart charger (does it stop sending a charge to the battery once the battery is fully charged)?

The battery chargers do have auto cut offs to prevent it from over charging. However, we do advise customers to remove the battery from the charger after it has been fully charged and to also unplug the charger from the outlet, as this is good electrical safety practice to do so. This will also help to prevent false defects reading and allows the charger to reset itself each time it’s used to charge a battery.

Anyone else have a hard time getting batteries in/out of the charger - extremely tight fit especially on my older 2Ah 40V battery? Any solutions?

Hello Patrick, To remove the battery, press the latch button on the battery pack down and hold. Pull the battery pack out of the charager. The battery pack fits snugly into the product to prevent accidental dislodging; it may require a strong pull to remove. Before putting the battery onto the charger, be sure that the rails on the battery and product are free of debris that could cause the battery to get stuck.

This is not the right charger for the 40V Lithium Max 4.0Ah (model 29662) battery

Returned! Not compatible with 40V Lithium Max (model 29662) battery I bought it for. Rufus (Amazon's AI) told me it was, but it doesn't even accept the battery connexion completely and the green light doesn't turn on. The correct charger for the 29662 battery is the charger with model number 29692, which is all black and smaller. Lesson learned, don't trust Rufus's responses and check on the manufacturer's site next time and hopefully i didn't leave it connected more than a few seconds or it may have smoked, could have been dangerous!

This charger works excellent

When you buy this battery you need this charger the charger they give you is too small. It takes four hours to charge the battery so I bought this charger bigger one now it takes an hour and a half.
