As a non-tech savvy person reliant on heating for my health due to disability, having my old thermostat control and display unit (which has always been awfully temperamental due to a loose circuitboard) finally give up the ghost on what was the coldest day of the year at that point - with my handy sibling out of the country I had a big problem or so I though. I had to put my trust in Reddit and YouTube to see if there was a straight swap that as I couldn’t replace the wired in communicator under the boiler myself would just pair with it and use the LavaTap Pro controller with the still working old communicator. Assured of compatibility and of my own competence in pairing it myself I ordered this at 3pm and it was here by 8pm (with the same day by 10pm delivery option). As forewarned on a YouTube video of the pairing process the written instructions in the box were not as clear as they could be so I referred back to that video and it took all of 3 mins and a couple of button presses to have the old communicator and the new display controller talking. Within half an hour the house was warm and the threat of mew-tiny had passed, my cats were happily laid across the tops of toasty warm radiators once more. This was the cheapest fastest fix for me in the jam I was in that day and I’m pleased with the cost comparable to a tradesman call-out, the thermostat input and display unit is far better than the one it replaced, which would just die if you touched it because of the apparently well known issue with the circuitboard, it had been subject to recall back when it was as in production and I inherited the old controls from the previous owner many years after the unit could have been replaced by the manufacturer. Now with the new unit I can take the controller off the wall and use it wherever without or press any buttons without fear it’s going to die one me. The only reason I didn’t wire in the new boiler communicator and continue using the old one isn’t due to any complexity - I understand how to do it, I am just too disabled nowadays to be sat that way for the full task, which is why I was so desperate for the pairing cross compatibility)

This does the job. Very versatile in terms of programming. Easy enough to fit. I have this parallelled with a wired digital thermostat. This wireless unit is located at the other end of the house. It looks smart. It's temperature control is accurate. No idea on the battery life yet but batteries were supplied. All in all, no complaints here.

Exactly what needed to replace my old unit, changed over seamlessly (after watching on YouTube, my son did it) and already linked so worked immediately,

Arrived ahead of time but packaging had obviously previously been opened as Sellotape cut and items inside in disarray . Binding instructions were missing and had to search on web and you tube to eventually find instructions on how to bind to existing relay box. I was considering returning but this was already a replacement as previously lid had been faulty although other one was obviously new and had all contents. Now all seems to be working well 🤞looks good and temperature seems well controlled.
