Sauder 5-Shelf Bookcase, Oiled Oak Finish

Me llevó mi tiempo armarlo yo sola, (todo un día), pero pude hacerlo sola. Algunas partes no tienen el número, pero es cosa de ser observadora. Temía que fuera a quedar inestable, tambalearse y no bien ensamblado por comentarios del producto, pero se sintió bastante sólido y firme una vez que clavé la parte de atrás. Recomienda poner una cosa de seguridad clavada a la pared pero no la puse y está bastante bien. Me llamó la atención el humor del instructivo: (Para los libros que nunca leerás) XD y me gustó ese detalle que no sé a quien se le ocurrió. Mi cuarto huele delicioso y me gustó mucho cómo luce. Ahora solo falta llenarlo.

The bookshelf was fairly easy to put together. It seems to be sturdy and looks good. I say it's good quality and good price.

I have used Sauder products in my home many times over the years and have not been disappointed. I have come to appreciate the workmanship and trust the Sauder name. The directions were easy to follow and we even had parts left over! The only part that disappointed me was the top shelf. Upon removal of all the pieces from a perfectly fine looking carton, the top shelf was damaged. I was, in a strange way, happy that it was the top shelf as I knew the damage would not be seen as the bookshelf is very tall. I can only guess that the piece was missed in final inspection and it arrived into my box. All in all, I would recommend this manufacturer and all their products.

This is particle board/MDF, and a bit of cardboard on the back, just to be clear, but the finished product looks nice. The assembled unit is sturdy, but it takes 2 pieces to make up the full height, just so you are aware. A few things to help with putting it together: - allow yourself some time to assemble it - don't be in a hurry, and do read the instructions. If you have another person to help, take advantage of that, as two sets of eyes are often helpful trying to put this together. And especially with Covid brain, there are a couple of sections of the manual you really have to look at a few times to get a clear idea of what you are supposed to do. - make sure you tighten the ‘cams’(the round devices with the pin/screw type fixtures that slide into the round piece) all the way(the manual mentions to look for the arrow on the cams, that really helps) but do follow the instructions and wait until the time the manual tells you to tighten them. -for the shelves, tilt them and place into the bookcase frame, then slide them down(you may need to apply a bit of pressure to slide them into place.) -despite what it said in the manual, we found it helpful/easier to lay it down for assembly. -contrary to instructions in the manual, the backing cardboard does not line up fully flush to all sides and top and bottom; it does sort of fit in the groove on the sides, but that’s a bit of a stretch in spots too - you have to do it by eye to allow it to sit evenly on the frame of the shelf. If you try to line it up like the manual suggest, you will not have enough cardboard to overlap the entire back side(e.g. if you line up the top as described, the bottom will be off and the nail will miss and come through the front and be visible…true story!) -be careful with the placement of the nails. When you nail into the frame from the back, nail in the centre of the frame even if off centre on the edge of the cardboard, and really take time to judge if you’re going to be nailing into the frame. It is easy to be too high or to low or not centred on the side and break through edge of the shelf and then the nail will be visible on the front side of the shelf. I probably made it sound worse than it is. By the way, Sauder, we did get a chuckle out of the cheeky notes on the manual pages every once in a while, so thanks for those. Nice to see a company that doesn’t take itself too seriously and has a sense of humour. It did make me hungry for tacos, though, ha!
