Rustins Polyurethane Varnish Walnut Satin 250ml

Have been iseingvthecwater based varnish firca few years in our kitchen but it does not last and prices have of the diamond hard ronsea products doubled in price. So decided to use this and totally amazed this stuf is thick and goes on beautiful, will need around 3 costs to get the desired colour but I know it will last as it oil based and not water based. Very strong smell of chemicals that reminded firca few hours so you know it's good stuff, apply the walnut varnish by brush it's looks extremely glossy like glass but being satin the gloss will dry out. You need a very good brush cleaner so i used cellulose thinners. The last time I used this kind of quaility varnish it was on a boat interior. Highly recommended.

This gives wood such warmth and beauty but you need to read the instructions, this varnish is quite thick and needs to be thinned with white spirit (10%) otherwise it can cause patches on your wood. Goes on lovely but is a bit smelly so make sure you open windows and get adequate ventilation otherwise you will be away with the fairies. Also mixing it with white spirit also cuts down the drying time so you can sand it down before a re coat. All in all I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend :)

Bought this as a cheaper alternative to Army Painter Strong Tone Dip just to see how it works, its actually pretty good for this - though the tin needs to be somewhere warm before you use it to make it a bit thinner - I may try diluting a bit next time takes a few days to fully harden, and like all oil based stuff has a bit of a whiff, but actually looked very nice once done, amazingly glossy though

Extremely durable. I have it on my stairs and it’s perfect. Dries pretty quickly for varnish.

this i found a bit thick and glutinous to use. it was also rather a dense brown so the grain of the wood does not show through much....thin it before use and build up very thin coats.
