Arctic Spray Pipe Freezing Starter Kit

What a great piece of kit this is!! I used this spray along with the Radkit pro radiator removal tool, the sleeve is quite long that comes with the kit, I used a sharp pair of scissors and cut mine in half as I had quite short lengths of pipe under my rad valve, I wasn’t sure if this would work but it worked like a charm!Follow the instructions and read carefully, make sure the boilers off Including the circulation pump, make sure the system is cool (sounds obvious I know), get all your tools and everything you need ready as you only have 35 mins freeze time.Was literally a 5 minute job using this kit, don’t forget if you have more to do just buy the freezer spray on its own as you can reuse the other parts from the kit and it’s a lot cheaper at only 9 quid a go, it basically means that I can swap out a rad valve with no draining down for 20 quid (including the valve), I don’t know what a plumber would charge you but I am sure you can probably times that by 4 or 5 times.

I followed the instructions on the pack and it did the job exactly as described. No problems. The freezer kit got around the problem of the cold feed tap being immoveable and enabled me to replace the bathroom sink cold tap. only one adjustable spanner was required.After Christmas I may get a couple of kits to enable me to change the cold feed tap in the airing cupboard

It’s five stars for what it can do (avoid draining the system to do small repairs like a quick valve change) and minus 5 stars for the potential damage you will end up with if it goes wrong - the whole contents of your pies all over your house. The sleeve is not water sealed on the ends - just cable ties - and the freezing liquid escapes on vertical pipe - I would definitely tape it at the botttom next time as they recommend in instructions. Also on radiator with vertical application you will likely cut away a good chunk of the sleeve to make it fit so the size of your frozen plug will be much smaller. To get the biggest plug apply the nozzle near the top of sleeve so liquid flows down through the foam freezes a nice long area and not at the bottom as it will just be leaking out there. If possible depressurise the system and definitely lock the valves on all other rads or at least rads that are on the same or higher level in case it does go wrong. Work very fast and know exactly what you will do and what your back up plan is. I did just about everything wrong - leaked liquid at the bottom, applied nozzle near the bottom of sleeve. It held for about five minutes - I was fast but then had a hiccup and had to readjust the valve - the next 5 seconds were in slow motion with pressurised system squirting everywhere as I am recompressing the valve fitting. Came very close to a massive disaster. It will be fine if I have to do it again but I can see this going terribly wrong for many people.

Expensive to use, as you need (at least) ONE entire can PER pipe ; That said offsetting this cost against a) draining the water system (hot or cold) b) the cost of a plumber... (time) then it becoms more 'accpetable'.Note this kit ONLY includes ONE CAN, so that is just ONE pipe; but this kit does include the re-usbale freezing jacket:NB For Subsequant uses you will need another two plastic tie wraps per use as well (one tie wrap for each end of the jacket) as these are cut off after use. (but the jacket is reusable).NOTE the instructions, and WAIT for the pipe to freeze; It is important to wait the full 10-15 minutes, or the ice 'bung' will not have formed and water would still free flow.- Used this on a (higher) MAINS pressure pipe, and it held more than long enough to fit and end cap to the pipe; (suggested hold time is up to 15 minues, so ensure that you have everything ready to go !)I WOULD reccomend this product as it worked well, though be aware of the cost PER can PER pipe.

Bit pricey for what it does and didn't last long enough. Had to resort to older methods. Ended up with water over the floor and one joint made good the other. leaked out before I finished.

I used this to enable me to install an isolation valve in a 15mm copper tap feed. Followed the instructions and it stopped the water for about half an hour. I was impressed with how easy and clean it made the job. I would certainly buy this product again and recommend it to anyone else.

I needed to fit an isolation valve and then replace a tap further along the pipe. There was no way of turning off the water as there is no internal stop-cock and the main water supply also feeds a neighbour's property. The instructions were clear and the spray worked perfectly. When I cut through the pipe there was no water loss at all and I had plenty of time to fit the valve. Brilliant!

Amazing, does what it says, saved me a fortune not having a plumber, did not have to drain down central heating, fitted new rad including altering pipework in under an hour, great will use again.
