The book comes with 30 minutes of extensive companion videos, accessible on an exclusive webpage. (Link and password include in the book.) Review: Amazing breakdowns of the moves... - Power of the Pros: Striking Techniques of The Greatest, Explained Amazing breakdowns of the moves made by the best competitors! I totally recommend this book. It is easy to understand. I would have just bought the E-book, which has links built into it to access the videos (Love the Videos), but I want to put the book under the tree for my husband, for Christmas. This is perfect! Review: Excellent Technique Explanation and Breakdown! - Really impressed with this book and the companion videos. The super man punch and Lomachenko's footwork videos were very helpful. Also loved the Wonder Boy Thompson breakdown. The book has been helpful for me, as it has allowed me to expand my weapon selection for sparring and point fighting. I would recommend this book to any martial artist!

Fantastic Book
This book is a fantastic supplement to training; it breaks down power generation at it's most basic level, and describes the minutiae that all comes together to create devastating strikes. If you're serious about striking, you have no reason to not buy this book.

David Christian has put a lot of work and thought into his latest book. I find all of his books and videos to be well researched with very clear explanations.

very useful right off the bat.
In short; Using the knowledge in this book will improve your striking across the board, especially if you have some experience. Great work. His other book on footwork is also worth picking up.

Decent back in 2019
If youโre reading this, thereโs no reason to buy this book now that the author made a newer version. The newer book has a ton more content. His website erases all traces of this version, and any of his YouTube description links to this version redirect to the newer version. Youโd be a serious fool to pay the inflated price just because itโs out of print.

Buy. This. Now.
I have been practising martial arts for over almost 25 years, striking arts predominantly (boxing, muay thai, wing chun, hsing-i). Only in recent years however have I been getting more interested in biomechanics in a bid to understand boxing (my root style) on a deeper level. Unfortunately the biomechanics books I have looked at, even those which claim to be basic primers were written with far too much technical language. David has a real gift for taking complex ideas and breaking them down into simple ideas you can take away and work on immediately. This is the mark of someone that truly understands a subject on a deep level. I will give you an example: The first principle he speaks about is linear motion and he explains that the weight should move in the direction of the strike in a linear strike. Simple right? But this made me realise why Chavez Sr always kept his lead foot pointing at his opponent's centre. That tiny adjustment of foot placement means that now when I jab my body's structure and weight is completely aligned with the strike. It also means I have greater alignment between the major joints (ankle, knee, hip, shoulder) and a greater range of motion in my hip in my left hook. If you're on the fence about buying this I would suggest you go check out The Modern Martial Artist YouTube channel and watch some of the technical breakdowns. If the great content that is being given away for free there does not convince you then bear in mind that the book actually comes with a link and a password which grants access to exclusive companion videos which further elaborate on key principles. If I could offer some constructive criticism I would say that the content deserves better packaging. The next book or a revised edition might benefit from a content's page and other trimmings, perhaps even some illustrations/images but I'm glad the information is out there. That said the book is short but packs a powerful punch, rather than race through it I am getting more benefit from taking my time with one principle, reading and re-reading it and applying. Each time through I gain another layer of understanding. Whether you are a martial artist, fighter or a trainer I would highly recommend you pick up this book. For the cost of perhaps one training session (or less) you will get your hands on information that really level up your game.

What would happen if you to taiji or Hsing I and put it into boxing.
Alot of kung fu guys insist their principles are used by the best fighters. But can never translate those body mechanics in a way that is functional. This book however breaks mechanics down in plain English and presents them in a combat sport setting. The second book by the author sets up using footwork for boxing and Muay Thai to deliver body mechanics.

Interesting and insightful
An excellent book that details the process of generating power in striking. I recognized many of the insights that are contained in the book, they took me years to learn through practice... Certainly the best single topic book I have read on striking. A must for any martial artist.
