Very worthwhile using
Great product have been using them for years, highly recommended, regenerate in hot salt water to keep using until they fall apart.

A bit disappointed
I bought one of these ages ago and now its falling apart i decided to buy another one as the nitrate in my tank was higher than usual. No amonia or nitrite. However even with running this Nitra-Zorb pouch in my canister filter and doing several water changes my Nitrate is still higher than it should be. I was hoping this would cure the problem but sadly not. Maybe its better at removing nitrite than nitrate.

Absolutely great massive reduction in nitrates in a week
Absolutely great product. I was doubtful at first as I couldn't find a lot of reviews but within a week my nitrate tests had dropped from dark red (160ppm) to nice pale yellow (0-5ppm). Fish all look a lot happier.

Not too bad for nitrate control.
Seems to reduce the nitrate a little but not by as much claimed

A Brilliant Product
Everyone who keeps fish has to deal with the problem of nitrates building up in the water. Even using a nitrate filter to remove nitrates from your tap water does not solve the problem. Water changes (the usual solution) are time consuming and if you have a pond, water changes in the Winter are uncomfortably cold. Nitra Zorb is an absolute boon, not only do the sachets remove nitrates you can "recharge" them for re- use using aquarium salts. A great product.

A miracle treatment!!
I have a Juwel Rio 240L tank. I have had a really high nitrate reading for a while now. I tried almost everything recommended to lower it with no success. Then one day whilst looking for something to lower the nitrate level this product appeared on the page I was looking at. Not cheap but thought ' oh what , I'll give it a go '. So pleased I did. Within 5 days the level had dropped from 50/60mg/l to under 20mg/l. So I am so pleased. I took it out on day five and recharged it in aquarium salt as it says. The water went a really dark brown, can only think it was the nitrate coming out. I placed it in the bottom part of the filter on top of the ceramic chips basket. It's a bit of a squeeze but seems to be doing the trick. I have two filters going in the tank and seem to be working as usual except the nitrate is way down. Just one thing, I've still got an original Juwel nitrate sponge going. Wasn't sure what to do about this so thought it can't do any harm. So fingers crossed it's going to keep doing its job!! Thoroughly recommend.

Good but struggles with a heavily stocked aquarium
My aquarium is a worst case scenario for these pouches. 450 litre heavily stocked with large fish. 25% water change every week. Before pouches. 0 Nitrite, 0 Ammonia, 80ppm+ Nitrates. Added two pouches for two weeks with no discernible change in Nitrates. The water did go clearer so the pouches were removing tannins and green tint from water. Added four pouches and nitrates started to come down. Four pouches after 8 weeks and nitrates are around 40ppm. To get nitrates lower would require yet more pouches which makes it economically unviable. This product works but not as good as Nitra Guard cubes which bring nitrates to zero after two weeks. Problem is Nitra Guard is becoming increasingly more difficult to get hold of in the UK. In conclusion these pouches work but will not have dramatic effects on heavily stocked aquaria. (update 01/07/2024) Using these pouches for a while now and regenerating every 7 days. Nitrates down to 40ppm.

Excellent product
It works. Nitrite and nitrate levels were 10 and 80 before i placed this in the tank. Was very anxious about the health if my fish. Within a day of placing the pouch in the tank, they dropped to 3 and 20. Phew. If it was not for This product i was very worried about the survival of the fish. After a thorough wash in clean water I just placed it at the bottom Of the tank. It was too bog to be placed in the internal filter. And the levels Dropped. Today i have attached it by rubber band to one side of the filter. I believe the levels of nitrate nitrite will drop to zero. Ammonia was always zero anyway. Great product highly recommended

The changes in nitrate and ammonia levels are very modest and requires many regenerations before any detectable change. This media may absorb nitrates in single digit PPM levels before it needs to be regenerated.

Good for new tanks or waste spikes. If you want to keep you waste low, use this, i assume its made from chemicals which absorb ammonia and nitrogen based compounds, and the "recharge" forces the chemicals to release those compounds allowing it to soak up more waste. Kept nitrate at 0 in a reef tank, which before read at 80ppm and ammonia and nitrite low enough that no issues popped up. I wouldnt use this indefinitely, as it is very much a band aid on a larger issue, but can help to establish new tanks without straining the bacteria and to handle ammonia spikes. Follow the directions and it will work as advertised.

I used a 1/4 pouch for my 10 gallon which is heavily stocked. Ammonia and Nitrite are fine, but Nitrates build up fast even with lots of water changes. I weighed out 50 grams (1/4) and used a 180 micron bag (its fine beeds) so don't use regular media bag. I would have used the whole pouch but its to large for my aquaclear 30. I was at about 40ppm or higher and tested it 18 hours later and its down to 5ppm. That's the lowest I ever seen that aquarium.... And since it can be recharged for 2 months and I only had to use a 1/4 pouch, that will give me 8 to 10 months of use..... Its not cheap, but it actually works and works within 24 hours, not 3 - 6 months like bio media. So its actually a good deal. Update: After 3 days in the aquarium, the nitrates do not even register on the test.... Will recharge at the 5 day point as per the instructions.... So far a product that actually does what it claims.

¡Tomó el ligero color causado por la madera del acuario, pero no hizo ninguna diferencia con los nitratos en absoluto! Decepcionante, porque eso es lo que lo compré!
