Wonderful Skimmer but needs one improvement
We live in Phoenix AZ where it's very hot in the summer so the swimming pool is our most important oasis we like to use at the end of the day. It is an irregular shaped pool with one coved seating including steps in 3 places and a tanning ledge and I like to keep it CLEAN. We also have neighbors that have tall Silk Oak trees to our West and because we have a prevailing breeze toward the East we get a lot of those terrible type of leaves (the kind that grab onto things like leaves with fingers) in our backyard and pool. I received the Betta SE 2023 on July 7, 23, put it in the pool and away she went! I LOVE THIS THING! It just meanders around cleaning the whole surface and when it gets stuck in any area, after about a minute or so it backs up a few feet then starts forward making a turn at the same time avoiding the trap it was currently. To be honest after observing it for a while I came to understand that even if it's not trapped, it will stop and go backwards then begin forward and turn at the same time so I believe it is programmed into it's logic to do this ever few minutes as a measure to un-trap it and possibly cover more of the pool surface. I really do like this feature very much. It is also has a large basket that is super simple to empty and clean. It's light weight with an easy to grasp handle. Except for the improvement needed (suggested below) it really is the perfect skimmer! IMPROVEMENT NEEDED: One of the feature designs is that it has wheels on the front left and right of the body at the water level which is supposed to keep it from scraping against the wall tile when it touches as it meanders around the pool. If your tile is part of the wall then no problem but if your tile is of an overhang type where the wall is recessed (as our pool is) then the height of the water will have to be raised to about 1/2 inch below that tile for the wheels to touch it or else the body of the skimmer will endure scraping. Because of this I had to buy a special level that would allow me to raise the water to that level but the downside is that now the built-in pool skimmers is almost useless because of the height of the water keeping larger leaves and even small debris from entering due to the lower flow because the water level is so high. The fix would be to redesign the wheel attachment to allow some vertical adjustment. This would be very easy to do, in fact I almost did it myself but before I got that far it suddenly had a malfunction. MALFUNCTION 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE: On July 28 exactly 2 weeks after receiving an putting into service I looked out and noticed that the skimmer was not meandering. I looked closer and saw the normally green blinking lights were blinking red. So I took it out of the pool, made sure it was clean, dried it off and put it on my kitchen table to inspect it. I thought maybe the sensor lenses needed cleaning so I carefully clean them and then cleaned the body and looked it over real good. I could not visually see anything broken or out of place so I placed it back into the pool and turned it on. The green lights started blinking and away she went - but that only lasted for about 2 seconds. After the 2 seconds the green lights went dim and then the system shut down. I did this a couple of time in a row with the exact same results. I believe that it has a faulty battery or "bad cell" because being a long time technician that is the way it acts to me. I contacted Amazon support, told them of the problem and was given a decision to either return for credit or wait till Monday where support would call me and help me go through some diagnoses steps. I opted for the refund because I honestly don't have much time this time of the year because of the work I do. I decided to give an overall rating of 4 stars because of the battery problem but not less because they really took good care of me and gave me no hassles, also I really like the unit while it was running - in fact so much that I'm going to use my money to purchase another one hoping that the first one was just a fluke. EDIT: I am adding to the above review now that I have had my new (2nd one) beta for about 6 weeks now (it is 8/28 at the time of this writing and I have UPGRADED from a 4 to a 5. I LOVE THIS THING! Really, it is just the best little skimmer ever. The 1st one I purchased definitely has some issues and I am so glad after returning it that I took the chance and purchased another. This one runs very strong, runs around the pool day and night (flashing pretty green lights) never quitting and never getting stuck - it really operates flawlessly. I'm not saying that the improvement I suggested above would not be welcomed because then I could run my water level using the built in leveler keeping the water about 2 or 3 inches below the lover ledge of the our type hanging tile. But as long as you don't have a hanging tile with lower sharp edge (like ours) or you use a float that is designed to keep the water level high (within an inch of the lower tile edge) then it simply is a pleasure to own and operate this little bot. Cleaning is a breeze, you just unlatch and open the top up, grab the basket handle and dump it in the trash put it back in, close the lid and latch it - very very easy and it keeps my whole pool from getting dirty. I also purchased a Polaris (which is also awsome) but I hardly have to use it at all because this betta does almost all the cleaning work before the debris every sinks below the surface! Really good. TIP! Before you place the skimmer in the pool get some good car type nano wax (with UV protection) and wax the top and sides of it really well. This will help keep the unit looking new. Wax it about every month more or less and it will stay looking great. Otherwise it will fade especially if you're in a hot climate like we are (Phoenix AZ). That's it! I love this thing so glad I purchased it.

Easy. Durable. Effective.
Easy to use. Picks up everything on the surface. This surface skimmer was packaged very well. The instructions were very simple and really not even needed. It is a fairly intuitive machine. You can unpack it, turn it on, and set it in the pool. This would work for 99% of people. If you want to mess around with the remote control features or changing modes, feel free to read the manual. It is easy. At my house I get a lot of sun. My backyard is on the south side of the house, and I am in southern California. This thing charges while it is running all day and does not stop until around 4am. It starts up again about an hour after sunrise. I bought this hoping it would pick up the very small bits of pollen and leaves that float on the surface, and it does just that. It does an amazing job. The basket that collects the debris is a very fine mesh - durable and functional. It picks up everything. Easy to clean. It comes with extendable legs and even longer extensions if you need them. That is to prevent it from getting stuck on a false beach or very shallow area. Those legs would just block the skimmer from going to those areas by bumping into the sides of it. I do not use them; I have a shallow step on one side of the pool that has about three inches of water. This thing floats over it with no issues. I think it drafts around two inches. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. The pool looks so much cleaner without all those little specks of debris floating on the top. Well worth the money.

Great product! Works flawlessly.
This is a great addition to our pool. While we do not have a lot of trees around our house, however, we do get a lot of bugs and stuff blowing in across our property. This running throughout the day keeps the top of the water clean and clear. Its quite surprising to see how much stuff is floating on the top and it catches before it sinks. Only downfall I see today, which I am working on a solution for, is the unit tends to get stuck against my skimmers, but believe that is only when my pool pump is running at its higher volume. Otherwise this is a great product, and the solar charging makes it so convenient. The only thing I do is empty the basket once a day and give the unit a spray down with fresh water.

Game Changer Pool Maintenance
We have multiple trees around our pool and have just gone through the worst of the pollen season here in South Carolina. Our pool gets cleaned once a week and within a few hours it would be a mess with leaves, pollen and pinestraw. I dropped the Betta in when we got it and not only does it get the leaves but the pollen is gone. It just runs and runs and runs and the pool is now pristine any time I look. And all the mess that sinks to the bottom doesn’t get the chance to get there. Frank the Tank, as we call it, is on the job 24 hours a day, quietly operating and doing its job. The only two things I would mention is he does occasionally get stuck on the shallow first step into the pool, but eventually works his way out of that. We also have a floating thermometer that gets in his way. He usually pushes it to the side and eventually it is released. Ideally this would work best with a submerged thermometer so that’s not an issue, so I’m still deciding if I need to change that out but not a huge issue at this point. So far this is a game changer for us and money well spent.

Great addition to my pool
The cover fell into my pool this year, and it was a mess when it was opened. In addition, the trees surrounding my pool dropped an overwhelming amount of pollen. The filter skimmer would have clogged in less than an hour. The Betta continued to clean the surface and only needed to be emptied once a day. The solar power is great. It has run nonstop since I put it in, and the surface is clear. There is one minor issue: the Betta can get stuck in the pool skimmer and on my stairs. To fix that, I put a piece of duct tape across the top of my skimmer and a bucket on the stairs. Now the Betta sweeps the pool with no problem.

Excellent Product!
I've had this Leaf skimmer almost two and a half years now and it's still going strong. It scoops up leaves and fine debris that lands on the surface of the pool. It's the small filtering that I especially appreciate. They get removed so they don't accumulate on the water line tile like they used to, and I don't spend the first 10 minutes of getting in the pool scooping stuff up. In fall or during high wind events when more leaves get in the pool, you've got to clean it out a lot. However, for normal use during pool season, it's about once a week. The battery continues to work well. It cleans the pool all day and at least a couple hours into darkness. I just had to replace the leaf basket, which I bought directly through the company and was reasonably priced. I was worried about whether the price of the skimmer was worth it when I first bought it. After a couple of years, I definitely feel it was worth.

18-Month Long-Term Use Review - Great Product!!
We originally purchased this unit (which we affectionately call "Lil Smurf") in the summer of 2023, honestly skeptical if it could live up to its advertised performance. Well, we are here to say, that after more than 18 months of use, Lil Smurf is still going strong! This thing works SO well it's almost unbelievable, as it un-assumably (yes, that's a word as of now) just wakes up each morning and goes about its quiet business. It gently propels around our very unusually shaped pool, with many curves and a table at one end in the water. Sometimes it gets stuck, or a bit confused, and wedges itself between the round table and the edge of the pool, but it always seems to get itself free again, with rare intervention. We live in central Florida, and have a screened pool deck, but even so, the tiniest of gnats (they call them "no see-ums" here) seem to get through the very fine mesh screens, and find their way to floating all over the surface of the pool, even with the filter running all day. The skimmer and surface movement just aren't enough to clear these things, and they were always like a film floating on top of the water, which no one enjoyed. And often, they were swimming along, just waiting to crawl up on swimmers! So we put our Betta unit in the pool one day, it charged up from nothing but the sun, as advertised, and it went to work. Literally, within days, we had nearly ZERO ANYTHING floating on top of the water's surface! We do have a small waterfall that recirculates back into the pool, so for awhile the bugs were replenishing themselves and showing up on the water again, but Lil Smurf just kept on keeping on, and keeps our pool crystal clear most days (with the exception of windy days blowing dust and tiny debris through the screen... but Lil Smurf gets it within a day or so). So easy to clean out, just pick it up, turn off the motor (gentle impeller at the front, which sweeps everything into the mesh basket), lift the basket out and rinse it out - that's it! It works SO well, my in-laws ordered one, and now our pool guy told me that after learning about it from ours, he's told many of his clients about it, and now, nearly a dozen of his pool clients have their own Betta units. And no, these unit do not put his pool service out of business, quite the opposite, they supplement the hard work he and his team do, and help customers to enjoy their pools by keeping them crystal clear on the water's surface. Now, all that being said, there are a few notes about how Lil Smurf has weathered (pun intended!) the past year-and-a-half. When new, the Betta unit has lights on the front that blink quickly green when charged and running, and red when "sleeping," either at night or on days when there may not be enough to charge the solar panel, and then it blinks red. After a few months, one of our green lights went out (not changeable), then the other one, and now, all lights are no longer working. But honestly, we don't need lights to know when Lil Smurf is on and doing his best work, because we can simply see him floating around, still working hard and effectively. We did have to take our unit out of the pool during the winter months. Even though we have bright sunny days a lot of the year, it didn't seem like there was enough solar energy to really get him up and running most days, so we stored him out of the pool for a few months. But upon putting him back in recently, he got up and running again with no issues. The beautiful blue color has faded quite a bit in the harsh FL sun, and he's looking a bit bedraggled and worn, but he's still going strong as far as his primary duties. Pro Tip: If you have floating thermometers, pool toys, anything that your Betta unit might run into (see pics), I'd recommend removing any of those nylon ropes that are attached to things to tie them to the side of the pool, or anything that could be sucked into the impeller, which will cause your Betta unit to immediately stop working. We have found that, once the strings were removed, he can run up against the floating thermometers, and mostly just pushes them around (he's a bit of a pool bully ;) , but they eventually get pushed out of the way, not interfering with its operation. Deducted 1 star for non-functioning lights, and severe fading, but operationally, still going strong!

Very pleased with this purchase
This has been a game changer for me! Extremely easy to use, but so very efficient in doing what it’s designed to do. The basket is large and picks up large magnolia leaves that always end up in my pool. But the best part is the amount of the top lying bugs it picks up! The fact that it is completely cordless makes it very easy to handle. Super impressed with how long it lasts! We literally unpacked it the first day put it in our pool and it hasn’t stopped yet!

Fantastic Time Saver!
I’ve had the Betta SE solar pool skimmer running in my in-ground pool for about a month now, and I’m seriously impressed with how much easier it’s made my pool maintenance routine. First off, the solar power is a game-changer. I live in a sunny area, and this little robot just floats around all day collecting leaves, bugs, pollen, and other surface debris — no cords, no charging hassles. On overcast days, the battery still holds up for hours, and just keeps going! What I love: It cleans constantly and quietly — my pool surface looks clean every time I go outside. The basket is easy to remove and clean. It’s surprisingly large and catches both fine and larger debris. No hoses or installation needed — just drop it in and let it go. It handles saltwater well, and the solar panels are solid and waterproof. Minor considerations worth mentioning: It occasionally gets stuck near the skimmer entrance or pool steps. Not often, but enough to mention. I fixed this by adding the included pool noodle near the skimmer to block it from jamming. Doesn’t always clean tight corners or edges — a quick manual skim every few days helps. Price is a bit steep, but worth it if you hate skimming like I do. Overall, the Betta SE is a great investment if you want to spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying your pool. I’d absolutely recommend it, especially for pools that get a lot of leaves or pollen. Just give it some sunlight and let it do its thing! ✅ Would I buy it again? Yes. 🧺 Would I recommend it to a friend? Already have!

Commandé pour la piscine. Mais quand je l ai déballé, je l'ai mis dans mon bassin à kois! Il va reste là. Aucun danger pour les poissons. J ai déjà vidé 3x le bac. C'est super efficace.
