Size is good, however due to the seam that runs along the top, it is not quite waterproof. Specifically, when it rains, water gets wicked through the seam and drips down along the centerline, which is annoying. Possible to avoid by hanging the tarp in such a way that the seam points down-slope, but still a design flaw. Additionally, while it does provide shade, it doesn't provide a very deep shade, still letting through a bunch of sunlight. When I was in the desert, I had to hang a second tarp to avoid it being too warm underneath. Hanging works well though, and I use it for solo hammock camping, where the size/weight is perfect.
