its a cute thing (yeah i know you don't want to hear that)
I read the description, "accurate to +/- .5 deg" Apparently, a good one is going to be digital and accurate to +/- .1 degree. for short distances, this accuracy is not an issue. for longer, you need to make sure you take into account that you could be up to .5 deg off. I was playing with it today because i thought it was going to be helpful in doing something around the house, but then i couldn't think of anything. So, for kicks, i placed it against the wall. it can be read up and down or sideways. it also has a weak (meaning that the unit will slide down the fridge if i didn't hold it) magnet on one flat. Since its plastic, i'm not too worried about it scratching. Its really light weight. not sure how it works, but it takes only about 30 sec for the dial to stop moving and show you that your object is level or straight (or not). I have to say that i like the fact that i can check for angles. I can't actually see if point a is in the same plane as point b, but i can check my garden now (just thought of that).

A must have for certain situations
If you are a home repair Do-It-Yourselfer, then you know how important measurements are. Most of us are familiar with measuring devices such as rulers or tape measures, which fit the bill for most situations. However, everything we work with is not a square, and every cut we make with a saw is not going to be 90 degrees. In certain instances, you are going to encounter angles. Whether you’re talking about working with a bay window, the pitch of a roof, crown molding, or a concrete ramp, angles are all around us. For many applications, a simple speed square will do. But if you want something to be highly accurate, this angle finder fits the bill perfectly. A few things I really like about this tool is that the manufacturer seemed to put a lot of thought into its making. Not only does it find the angle, but it has notches with which it can be hung, it has 2 levels (horizontal and vertical), and it has a table of comparisons on the back side. It also has two small magnets on the level side, but they are certainly strong enough to hold the angle finder in place. If you’ll notice by the picture, you do have to look very carefully at the reading to get an exact angle. In finding 90 degrees, the bubble level is easier to get a visual read than discerning between the fine lines. In the picture, the bubble level shows that the surface is not entirely level, and if you look very closely at the angle finder, you’ll see that is it not entirely level either; however, it is harder to determine on the angle finder, but at the same time, you will not get an exact degree to which it is not level with a bubble level. Overall, it seems to be a well-made product that fits the bill for finding exact measurements of angles. The price is just an added bonus.

Works great, not perfect.
This angle finder works great and is very accurate within about a degree in my testing and it works at some pretty extreme and odd angles as well. Very easy to use but the plastic is a little thin so it might break if it gets stepped on or takes a hard drop from a high distance. The magnets are a little bit weak as well and it doesn't really like to hold itself up anything over a 45° angle no matter how thick the metal is. I was surprised that it has the built-in level but I wouldn't use it to level much but rather only use it to base your angles off of. It works great and I am very impressed at how well it functions but just keep in mind that it's not the most durable tool out there. I still give it 5 stars

Good tool for DIYers
I needed one of these for a project I'm doing and didn't want to spend a fortune. This looked like it would do the job and it will. It's easy to read with level bubbles should you need those as well. Being magnetic on the one side will also com in handy. It's made of plastic so I don't know that I'd use it in a commercial setting, but for me it's plenty good enough. If you need one, this is one to consider. I already have found things to use it for I didn't realize it would help with.

Handy ... Easy to use and read
This is a handy, compact, easy to use, easy to read angle finder. I can think of dozens of projects over the years where having one of these around would've been oh-so-handy, so I'm happy to have it in my tool bag now. My only negative observation--hence, 4 stars, not 5--is that this is not the quality of tool I would have expected. It's the kind of thing you'd pick up at a swap meet, or maybe in the bargain bin at a box store. I've got--and use--lots of tools like that ... so that's no complaint. But if you expect to subject this to heavy use/heavy wear and tear, you might want to look for something a bit sturdier.
