Be carful you don’t push the spring loaded stop too far in. Otherwise a great product! BTW I’m 73!
Brilliant, I’m very pleased as it takes the heavy lifting of getting the kayak on, and off the roof. Recommended. Took a bit of time to fit as I have “J-Bars” on the roof bars, but works well.

Revolutionised my life
Fantastic bit of kit, simple to fit and incredibly effective for loading the SUP and Kayak to the roof of my car (higher than average). No more manual handling issues, or damage to my car!!

Easey to load Kayak
I should have got one of these Kayak Roof Load Assist months ago. It is very sturdy and strong and I can load the kayak on top of my car in 3 minutes, even though I am 78 years of age.

Not at all bad.....
Old age does not come itself, as the adage go's. With it comes the increasing problem of how to load your heavy SOT kayak on to the roof of your car, in my case a rather high Shogun. My Ocean Kayak Malibu II is twelve feet long and weighs 58lbs. Wrestling it on to the roof of the car was becoming increasingly difficult, particularly if there was any wind at all. Enter the RUK Sports Sliding Kayak Roof Rack Load Assister. It fits on top of a standard roof bar, and is attached by two bolt on brackets. Assembly on to the car is straightforward enough, a spanner being all that you require. In operation it does make lifting the kayak easier. The arm extends out the side of your vehicle and you can then prop the kayak against that, rather than lean it on the car, before hoisting up the other end onto your roof bar or kayak J bars. it certainly minimises the risk of damage to your car, and reduces the effort required. A couple of points should be borne in mind. Firstly, as it effectively double the thickness of one of your roof bars you may have difficult in mounting other racks etc on the bar. I had to use longer bolts to mount my j bars to accommodate the width of the assister. Secondly I felt that the two brackets that held the assister onto the roof bar were better supplemented by a couple of u bolts, as the assister seemed to flex a wee it under the weight of my kayak. Probably not necessary, but made it seem more secure. Not the most sophisticated product, but delivered quickly and does what it needs to do. I can now load the yak single handed, and my wife is spared the inevitable fall outs and poor language when the car is bumped, not to mention the risk of being crowned by a falling yak. Marital harmony resumed.

Strong enough but a bit rough around the edges
Strong enough and fairly easy to mount but a few sharp edges , watch your boat and your fingers , and you’ll will need a screwdriver or similar to push the sliding arm retainer button catches in as they are stiff and difficult to access . 7 out of 10 .

Great bit of kit
I have used this over the last couple of weeks, great bit of kit. Fitted to my Transporter, makes getting to kayak on the roof so easy.

... pull out bar But other than this it's a good product
Looks ok haven't used it yet buts on my car Could do with a hole drilled through so you can add a padlock as it's only vote the spring pins to hold it in place so anyone could walk of with the pull out bar But other than this it's a good product
