Works great for fermenting—easy to use and clean
I’ve been using these glass fermentation weights for mason jar ferments, and they work really well. What I liked: • Keeps everything submerged: Holds vegetables under the brine, which is key for good fermentation • Easy grip design: The handle makes them simple to place in and remove from jars • Perfect size: Fits well in wide-mouth mason jars • Durable glass: Feels solid and well made • Easy to clean: Rinses off quickly with no hassle Things to consider: • Make sure you’re using the correct jar size (wide-mouth works best) • Glass, so handle with care Overall: These are a great tool for anyone making fermented foods at home. Simple, effective, and makes the process much easier and more consistent.

Good value, works great, but take note - concave lower surface, not flat
I bought these as they seemed like a good value, which they are. However as nobody else has mentioned it, these weights are not flat on the lower surface, they are concave. So there is potential for gas trapping under them, although the theory is that the concave surface produces a suction effect that keep the weight in place. They are well packed, and seem like good quality glass. I like the handle, tried it in a bowl of water and they are easy to grip and lift. I am going to get a set of the more expensive flat bottomed ones and compare them, and update the review after that. -- update -- After comparing flat to concave weights i can say they both work as intended and stay put with no gas underneath. I am happy with these, they work well and keep both finely chopped and coarsely chopped items under the brine. I have tried them from finely chopped sauerkraut to do chua (daikon and carrots), the weights work well and are easy to grab and remove, except of course when the jar is nearly empty, but by then no weight is usually required as there is a lot of brine left. I saw a reviewer mention they do not work well in 1/2 gallon mason jars, as the jars a wider. So i tried it. I found even sauerkraut submerged well in a 1/2 gallon jar. Yes there are a couple of small pieces that escape, but they do not seem to actually reach the surface, the suction effect of the weight seems to keep everything down anyway. I even tried the weight on a jar of Trader Joe's sauerkraut (with the cucumber in it), that jar is much wider than the weight, and square. It even worked perfectly in that, the weight kept all the contents down below the brine, no problems at all. I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. Even when covered in brine i have no problems grabbing the weight and removing it.

Excellent
I have started experimenting with fermenting foods, so I decided to try these out. The easy grip handle makes it nice to get out of the jars. They are sturdy and work great! Nicely made.

this had the widest diameter weights for wide mouth jars, for the most ounces in a weight
These are well made and well designed. I wanted the maximum diameter that could go into a standardized wide mouth mason jar. I saw that for this brand the grab handle (which is a raised knob of glass in the top) is recessed into the top of the the weight. In other words the knob by which you will grab and lift up the weight sits in a circular channel. My fingers are not particularly small, but they are not very fat or meaty either. My fingers can grasp this recessed knob handle easily. If you are a very large person for have very fleshly fingers, you might not be able to grab this recessed knob as easily. I saw a different brand where the grab handle was a knob of glass that rose above the top surface of the weight. The would avoid any finger size issues, but it also, given the taller total height of that weight) reduce the available volume in your mason for the vegetables/food that you are fermenting. I will prepare a batch of cabbage tomorrow and will update this review if there are any issues. These come well packed in a box with cut out foam for permanent safe keeping of these weights. My box had one of the closing flaps torn off. The vendor needs to be more careful.

Work great with my wide mouth jars
New to fermenting and was having a hard time keep my solids under the brine. Ordered these and they fit my wide mouth mason jars perfectly. The knob at the top make it easy to remove and have a good amount of weight to keep everything submerged. Work so well that i order to more sets.

Substantial Weight Meets the Need
These weights do a great job holding fermenting vegetables below the brine. They are deceivingly heavy. They cleanup very easily. The shipping container does double duty as a storage container. This was a good purchase.

Perfect Fermentation Companion!
These glass fermentation weights are exactly what I needed! They fit my wide-mouth jars perfectly and keep everything fully submerged—no more floaters or mold issues. I love the little handles on top; they make removing them so much easier (no more fishing around with a fork!). The glass is thick, smooth, and easy to clean, and they don’t absorb odors like plastic ones. I’ve used them for sauerkraut, pickles, and jalapeños—everything has turned out crisp and delicious. Great value for a 4-pack! Highly recommend for anyone who ferments regularly or is just getting started.
