Unlike the others...
100% unpaid, unsolicited review for the Pro version, specifically. This device is such a great product for breathing new life into an old car it's insane - and it's seamless once it's all setup. THE MOST IMPORTANT feature for me was the Bluetooth audio transmission, and I feel like not many people are aware of how great this feature is. Unlike the other similar devices out there, this Carpuride W901 Pro model lets you stream BT audio direct to your car's speakers rather than using FM or aux jacks, all while still paired via Android Auto/Carplay. No other device I've tried does this. I really appreciate that the Carpuride folks thought of this and offered it in a well made design. On top of that, their customer support is equally as stellar. I reached out to them for a custom boot logo, and they turned the software update around for me almost immediately. I've been running this setup in my car for a few weeks now and I have zero complaints. I even added the backup camera and steering wheel controls - all of which also work flawlessly and took seconds to hook up. Attached few pics of the setup, but they don't do it justice. Note: I didn't use the supplied mounts, so I can't comment on their functionality.

Dual Bluetooth capability
Bought this CarPlay for my golf cart and it’s dual Bluetooth capabilities. Have a Bluetooth speaker & Bluetooth my music from my phone. Initially, the 12 volt cigarette lighter power source malfunctioned, but customer service was outstanding. They promptly sent a replacement and it has worked well ever since receiving the new power cord.

It’s a great product however
I got this after hours of watching YouTube videos and search the Amazon site, however this product wasn’t for me because I can’t mirror my IPhone on this device. Now, let me be clear if that is not a big deal to you than this is the product for you! It is a great size if you have a truck or an SUV only because of the size of the windows in said vehicles. Just check the manufacturer’s compatibility as far as your vehicles may go. I regrettably had to return it because of what I mentioned earlier. Mirroring my phone was a big deal to me. It may not be as a big deal to anyone else. It was a seamless set up with no real deals straight out the box. I wish I could have kept it. I just ended up connecting my IPad which is fine with me, my iPad was an easy adj and I already have them so it didn’t cost me any thing to use it. If they are able to figure it out the compatibility issues I may order it again. I don’t live in the worst neighborhood but, u can’t just leave it in your window that wouldn’t be smart. I had to take it out a few times and throw it in my purse which was annoying! That is something to consider, idk if I am going to just have the radio I want out in my vehicle bcuz it is a 2014 Mazda CX5 which would cost me over 2100 which is insane! So for now it’s my iPad, no wires and I can just drop it in my purse when I exit the vehicle.

Does NOT play calls/texts thru car speakers
Bought this for apple car play. The tablet connects to the car via bluetooth and will play my music/audiobook through the car’s speakers. It looks like car play; I can side-by-side maps and music. HOWEVER when you are on a phone call, the mic and speaker switch to the tablet itself, and, at full volume, the sound is terrible. I can tell that there is a person on the other end trying to talk to me, and that’s about it. Similarly the mic is crap so the other end of the call can’t hear me either. Same problem with texting. I can tell the tablet who to text and what to say, she will repeat my message to confirm if its correct and i can’t hear her. If i receive a text, it will be read aloud from tablets speakers - can’t hear it. My bf is an engineer and he is astounded at the laziness of the engineering and that this product was recommending by car&driver. Anyways, we scoured reviews on yt and reddit, and found one creative work around. You could use an aux cord from car to tablet which should make all audio come out of the car’s speakers. AND add an external mic so I could be heard on calls. But out of principle, I am returning this glorified phone stand. The only thing it offers me that a $10 phone stand + my car’s regular Bluetooth is a big screen. Don’t buy

Great mid-grade option
Bought this model because...large screen, several mounting options, supports rear camera, CarPlay, and a WIDE temperature range (I live in Florida, and my last back up monitor/camera burned out). I had local stereo companies quote between $1K to $2K for a quality system, so this was a great price for a mid-range unit. A few things could be better... The FM audio output does not turn on immediately so I have to listen to a few seconds of noise. Other car bluetooth to FM devices immediately transmit silence. Carpuride: Can you fix this in a software release? The automatically dimming feature does not work well with street lights. The brightness cycles a little up and down at night. A little annoying. Carpuride: Can you fix this in a software release? Average the photo sensor readings.

Great CarPlay solution
I just got a new used 2016 Subaru Forester, which I love, and was going to install a replacement radio (did it before on other cars) but youtube videos showed that it involved too much teardown of the dashboard. So I did an internet search and in Car & Driver’s review of the top 5 CarPlay devices this one came up as #1. I was surprised because it’s an external unit and I was skeptical. But I bought it and it works great…after some tweaking, a software update, and some tech support. But the tech support was AMAZING - responses came within a day and they worked. So now I can listen to music, podcasts, text, and make phone calls. You may need to make contact with the folks at Carpuride to get the software update but once you do you’ll be able to connect with both the smartphone and the car’s Bluetooth and it works pretty seamlessly. I am very happy with this product and it looks great. An excellent solution without pulling everything apart or spending $1000 to have it done by a car stereo shop. I don’t like the power cable being as visible as it is but that’s a small price to pay for a bright 9” screen and excellent connectivity.

Would buy again.
Surprisingly works well for bluetooth connectivity. The CRV I installed it in usually has trouble with any bluetooth connection, but this screen connects reliably every time. It functions as desired. The suction cup mount shakes a lot so I used the solid mount. Instructions may require some common sense to understand. Seems like they were translated from some other language into English so terminology does not exactly speak transparently. Image is good. Reverse camera function works well with the separate camera I purchased.

Poor sound quality, suboptimal software, bad hardware, bad customer support
I bought this to bring more life into my 2013 Dodge Avengers stereo system without needing to spend extra money on a new stereo, wire harness kit and the other necessary items to bring my car into the modern age. After a month with this product, I returned it, bought the necessary equipment at a higher cost, and had my stereo completely replaced as I cannot justify a purchase like this. The Carpuride W901-Pro simply just did not hold up to my expectations in almost any category. Below I have broken this review into a few categories to make this more easily digestible for anyone considering this as a full stereo replacement alternative. 1. Cost and Build Quality 3/5: Coming in at $290 ($70 coupon at time of purchase made this even cheaper) this alternative to replacing my stereo comes nearly $400 cheaper than what you would pay for a lower end permanent Android Auto/CarPlay stereo JUST for the hardware, not including installation (I bought the Sony XAV-AX3250). This alone makes this option seem like a steal. The chassis itself is sturdy enough but is completely plastic. The included mounting hardware can be described as serviceable, but after a week, I noticed it shifting and not maintaining the position that I fixed it to (I used the included arm mount similar to a phone mount for a car). This quickly became annoying as it constantly needed readjusting. Overall, I would give the build quality a 3/5. The chassis and device itself were fine, but the included mount was not acceptable. The price saves it though as if I received this unit for the full retail, I do not think that level of quality is okay. 2. Sound 2/5: Many reviews for this product claim that this unit "sounds so much better than their stereo". While in some cases, I'm sure it does, I cannot say that my experience mirrored those beliefs in any way. The out of box sound quality was serviceable, but not great. Upon raising EQ sliders, clipping and warping was noticeable almost immediately. This thing cannot handle anything above the flatline that was defaulted. I also noticed that out of box, the media and call volume were one in the same, meaning calls would retain the same volume as my music. In my case though, the call volume was significantly low, and nearly inaudible. This caused me to blast my volume to the max, and scramble to lower it before music began playing, lest my eardrums suffer. I contacted Carpuride support and was told to update the firmware. I was given a Google Drive link which in my opinion (as an IT specialist) is an unacceptable way to distribute files to customers. I installed the firmware, and call volume now had its own slider separate of media. The tradeoff though is that media playback quality became horrendous, and the unit began warping worse than it did before the update. This was the point when I gave up and returned the unit. I did not make this decision just because of this though. I had many issues over a two-week span, which are covered more in depth below. 3. OS and Software 1/5: Wow. I don't even know where to begin with this. The software itself works but is very buggy and non-responsive. My unit constantly crashed, exiting Android Auto then reconnecting, pausing music playback and never playing again until I unplugged the device and plugged it back in, and was unintuitive to use in my opinion (after some time with it this was not an issue, but still worth noting). Other notable issues include lack of split audio controls for call and media (as noted in 2. Sound), maps for some reason refusing to use night mode (tested on other units and works fine with same phone), and the unit occasionally deciding to play my calls through my phone instead of the car's speakers. These software issues were brought up to support, which leads me into the next section. 4. Customer Support 1/5: I contacted support to discuss the maps night mode and sound issue relating to split audio controls for call and media playback. Support reached out a week later and gave me a link to Google Drive with firmware to flash onto the unit. I hesitantly followed the steps to do this, and to my surprise, almost none of my complaints were fixed. I noted worse sound quality in media playback, night mode was still inoperable, and the unit crashed significantly more frequently. I reached back out to support regarding these issues. Instead of addressing them I was told: "Thanks for your reply. I’m sorry that the Android auto system does not support automatic night mode currently. However, we have received feedback from customers that they can use map night mode by setting their phones to dark mode." I only use dark mode on my phone... Customer support was unable to handle my request and at this moment is when I returned the unit. Horrible custom service times, along with the lack of assistance customer service was able to provide to make the experience better set me over the edge and lead to this products return. It is unacceptable to give this kind of response when a customer has addressed multiple software issues existing in your product. I do not want to put the blame on the support agent though as this is likely an issue with lack of training, or lack of support (to the agent) from the company themselves. I will not support or buy products from any company that handles issues like this. It is clear that Carpuride does not care about this product or any others that they release. Their large product lineup (at the same price points) shows how they care more about bolstering a large lineup rather than making quality products that consumers would be happy to purchase. 5. Miscellaneous Complaints: Light sensor is too sensitive and goes to either extreme of too dark or too bright. Lack of physical buttons is very upsetting on a device that constantly freezes or hold many other software issues. Why did you include an aux cable where only one end has a right angle? That one is more of a gripe as I would prefer right angle on both ends since it comes out of a flat panel on my stereo, and the straight end was in the unit, which left the cable poking out of the back. Barrel jack adapter for power was annoying, please move to USB-C. There is no reason for this as cost of USB-C minimal, and USB-C can handle plenty power to the unit. Glossy screen left glare in the sunlight, making it at times unusable during the day. Please stop using non-detachable cigarette port adapters. Use USB-C to USB-A cable, then give a power adapter with USB-A on it. 6 Pros: Cheap compared to most more alternatives. Great looking screen for the price. Easy setup. Loved the 9inch screen (I could only get a 7-inch screen installed in my car, and definitely miss the larger form-factor).

W901 Pro
Hope this review helps those who are purchasing Carpuride products. When first initial setup, my Iphone 13 had no difficulty connecting to W901Pro. However, the unit will not connect to my Infiniti BT. Playing music or making/answering a phone call, I had to switch back to my handheld device (phone). Only way to play music with my car stereo is via FM transmitter (horrible with hissing background noise) or an Aux (which my car does not have). Siri doesn't work either. After communicating with Carpuride team with my problems, 2 days later, they had sent me the latest firmware update and that fixes all the issues. I must say Carpuride support is A1. With the update, all voice/music transmissions are now redirected back to the handheld and from handheld via BT to car.

Great but Quality Assurance Issues
Really fantastic for a Carplay/Android Auto alternative to an in-dash aftermarket install for older vehicles. It attached to my dashboard very easily (and stuck well) and functioned just as intended. Screen is nice and big with good visibility in sunlight and good touch sensitivity. Bluetooth output connected well to the aftermarket Bluetooth solution I have installed in my car (which itself connects to my car's aux input). The major product downside is no Bluetooth output of phone calls. Luckily for me my car has phone Bluetooth already (using my speakers), so I could route calls through this and not use the 901 Pro, but this is a real weakness of this device. Most importantly for me: the device came flawed from the factory. There are two streaks underneath the glass screen, likely because the backside of the screen wasn't cleaned properly at the factory. It shows very obviously in bright sunlight and is very disappointing. Carpuride seems to have an issue with quality control at their factory. I'm returning for this reason, but otherwise it's a great device if you get one without this flaw.

---------- Before making the purchase, I read and re-read the various devices. I loved my choice and it works great. I also made the purchase of the support in a vent of the car and for me it is the best choice to place the device. Even with sunglasses, the display is perfect. I really recommend this device. I contacted customer service for some additional information to complete the device options, and what a service! Very quick response. I think I made the best choice for this type of device.
