Fantastic Camera — Clear, Reliable, and Truly Wireless
I recently purchased the Reolink Argus PT Ultra + Solar Panel, and I’m genuinely impressed with how well this setup performs. The 4K clarity is outstanding—day or night, the footage is crisp, detailed, and far better than any battery‑powered camera I’ve used before. The pan/tilt function is smooth, and the auto‑tracking actually works the way it should, following motion without getting confused or jittery. The included solar panel is a game changer. Once mounted, the camera stays fully charged without me ever needing to touch it. Between the dual‑band Wi‑Fi 6 connection and the clean Reolink app, the live view loads quickly and stays stable. I also love that there are no subscription fees. Everything records straight to the microSD card, and the camera gives me full control without locking features behind a paywall. Overall, this is a high‑quality, reliable, and easy‑to-use security solution. If you want a true set‑it‑and‑forget‑it outdoor camera with excellent image quality, this one is absolutely worth it.

Best return for money
Best camera i have put. Easy to install interface is great and record everys8ngle thing not even a cat can ditch. Best part is that moving motion recording and dont need much bandwidth. Only downside is that solar panel not very good at recording. Recommend using power outlet. Might order couple more.

Great camera. Lousy first level tech support.
This is our 4th Reolink camera and I have to say that they are fantastic. They are clear as if you were standing there, record really, really well, are easily manipulated, have a bunch of settings that allow for personalization, and stay fully charged as long as you live in a sunny area, which we do. We rely on them to keep an eye on things while we're gone. The cell phone App works great, as does the desktop PC client. So why only 4 stars? I have had a lot of difficulty with the most recent (this one) of the four linking up to my wifi. It was fail after fail after fail, reset, delete the App and try again, fail again, delete and reinstall the App for the second time, and finally get it to connect. I noticed that the firmware for this one offers a lot of really good stuff that the older cameras do not, so I'm thinking new generation equals new issues. And now a pretty substantial negative. I had connection issues, as I've already said, and then once connected and set up it seemed to have a mind of its own. I would aim it one way, close the App, and it would reset to wherever it had been pointing before I reset it. The only solution was to set it by hand where we wanted it to default to and hope for the best. I give Reolink's FIRST LEVEL Tech support a whopping one star. We went back and forth for over a week about this issue, and every time they wanted more information, gave me nothing to really try, and just asked questions. I cooperated, but was on the verge of sending it back when they escalated the issue to their upper level. To their credit, the Technician that caught the case provided me what turned out to be a simple two-step solution. All I had to do was restore the camera to its original settings. Which means basically starting over, but thank goodness it retained the wifi connection. I've been testing it all day and now it seems to work as it should. So the upper level support gets five stars, the lower level gets one star, and due to the connection issue I am only able to give this particular camera 4 stars.

Solar-Powered Flexibility with Clear Video, But Wi-Fi Needs Help
I’ve been using the Reolink 4K Solar Security Cameras for a few weeks now, and overall, I’m really happy with how flexible and easy they’ve been to install. Since my home gets solid sunlight in different areas, I was able to place these cameras in multiple outdoor spots without worrying about running power cables. The solar charging works impressively well — after a full day of sun, the battery charges quickly and can last up to 18–24 hours of continuous viewing. That’s a big plus for me, especially since I hate dealing with wires or frequent charging. The PIR motion sensors help conserve battery by keeping the camera mostly in sleep mode until movement is detected, which makes sense and works as expected. Video quality is definitely one of the highlights. The 8MP footage is sharper and more detailed than my old Ring Spotlight Cam, especially at night — the color night vision is a nice upgrade, making everything look more natural instead of just black and green. I can clearly see faces and car details, which matters to me for home security. Integration with Home Assistant has been smooth too; I can pull up live feeds, control the pan-tilt functions, and get alerts without relying on the Reolink app. Speaking of the app — it’s not perfect, but once you get used to it, it’s functional enough. I also connected mine to the Reolink Hub, which helps keep everything centralized and gives me local storage options, which I appreciate since there’s no subscription fee. My biggest issue has been Wi-Fi stability. Compared to my older Ring camera, this one struggles a bit on my main network, especially when the signal dips. I ended up having to buy a Wi-Fi 6 satellite (extender), which helped, but it’s a little annoying that I had to spend extra just to get a reliable connection. For a camera that’s already relying on solar power and wireless connectivity, solid Wi-Fi is kind of a must. That said, the trade-off is worth it for me — no monthly fees, great video, and the freedom to install them almost anywhere. If your Wi-Fi is strong, these would be a no-brainer. As it is, they’re a solid choice — just be ready to boost your network if needed.

Very pleased with the product
Very pleased with the purchase. Working perfectly to monitor a new owl nest in our tree. I climbed ladder and disturbed the owl slightly but got it in a perfect location. Here are some key points: Battery: I am getting 8 days with no solar attachment. It’s in a tree so very little sunlight and the squirrels would just chew the wire. This is less than advertised but exceeded my needs. I just dangled a power cord down the tree and put the USB C adapter in a waterproof container. Then I just plug it in once a week. That is with about 100 detections a day recording each for 8 seconds. Your mileage with your settings will vary. Charges back to 100% in 6 hours. Maybe someday I will have a use for the solar panel. Storage: I have used 12GB in two weeks with 100 detections a day each for 8 seconds. It’s a 128GB card…..way overkill. Infra-Red: The Infrared at night is the best clarity for my use looking into the dark nest. I was not entirely sure looking at the specs that it had infra-red capability. Sensitivity: It took a few days fiddling with the settings to get the right triggers. The non-detection mask is critical for avoiding false triggers with leaves and such. Capture: Keep in mind that these battery powered cameras cannot capture the first couple seconds of activity like a wired NVR system can. To save battery they go into idle mode and wake up on detection. I see some complaints about this but I can’t ding the product for this unless I was OK with a 6 hour battery life to stay active all the time. NVR Integration: In short, no, you cannot record the recordings to your NVR (if you have one). But as a consolation, the camera shows up in the phone and desktop app, right next to the other cameras. Just be aware the recordings are coming from the SD card on the camera, and take a little more time to retrieve. Water: We have a couple torrential downpours. No issue yet after two weeks. Very Pleased.

Good cameras, but watch out for the screws.
I purchased this camera to replace one of my Blink cameras. Love the ability to pan and tilt, also the auto tracking with lighting. Ensure you fully charge the camera prior to installing. Go through the all the camera settings to set them the way you want them. Some I left on the manufacturer settings, some I changed. Good quality pictures and videos. One issue, small as it is - the screws for the solar mount, when mounting separately from the camera, are small in diameter and suck going into wood. I used a more reliable brand. I use the siren to scar off the raccoons and skunks before letting the dog out.

Easy to install, clear video and audio, lots of motion detection features
The Reolink Argus PT Ultra 4K Solar WiFi Camera has been a solid addition to my home camera setup. I installed it on a gazebo that sits near a public trail behind my fence. Recently, a windstorm knocked down part of the fence, leaving a gaping hole where anyone walking by can see in or walk in. Since rebuilding in the middle of winter was not ideal, this camera became a practical short-term and likely long-term security solution to keep an eye on things before and after the fence gets built. For my intended use, which is monitoring the yard and trail access, it has delivered excellent effectiveness and performance so far. I absolutely plan to leave it there permanently. The overall build quality feels very much in line with what I expect from Reolink. I have been running a Reolink DVR system in Colorado weather for over 12 years, ranging from below-zero winters to hot summer sun, and my DVR cameras have never failed. This Argus PT Ultra gives me that same impression of durability and longevity. The camera housing feels solid, the mounting bracket is sturdy, and the included 3W solar panel has a clean, functional appearance that is small enough not clash with the gazebo design or look terribly out of place. Installation was straightforward, highlighting the system's usability and ease of use. Because it is fully wire-free, I only needed two tapping screws into the gazebo's wood beam and a secure mount for the solar panel above it on the camera mount. Within a couple of hours of sunlight, the battery fully charged to 100 percent. That solar functionality removes the hassle of climbing up to recharge batteries, running a power cord to a plug, or running an Ethernet cable, which is a major advantage over some battery cameras I have used in the past. Setting up the Reolink app was equally simple. After creating a Reolink account, I scanned the QR code on the camera, connected via Bluetooth, and then added it to my 2.4 or 5.8 GHz WiFi network. I was pleasantly surprised that I still had a strong signal all the way across my yard. What stands out most is the 4K image quality and the 360-degree pan-and-tilt functionality. The clarity during the day is excellent, and the color night vision with the motion spotlight does a good job of preserving in the dark. The auto tracking feature adds real functionality, especially for monitoring activity along the trail. Instead of a static view, the camera follows movement across its field of view. The ability to view both this camera and my older Reolink DVR system in the same app is a big plus. It keeps everything centralized and easy to manage. Remote access also works reliably, so I can check in when I am away from home. Local storage via microSD is another practical feature, especially since there are no mandatory subscription fees. Motion detection only captures short clips, so even a 32 GB SD card is sufficient to store hundreds, if not thousands, of clips. In real-world use, motion detection has been accurate, and the smart detection options for person, vehicle, and pet help reduce false alerts. I had to turn up the motion detection all the way for it to detect people walking by on the trail, but it will definitely pick people up at 60 percent if they get closer. The spotlight and siren serve as a deterrent, though I mainly rely on notifications and recorded clips. I left the siren feature off since I don’t want to alarm every person who walks by. Video playback in the app is smooth, and the interface is intuitive without feeling overly simplified. Sound quality is also decent for picking up voices nearby. I could easily hear birds through the app as well as dogs barking in the distance. The camera and app offer plenty of options for managing the device, with a few more knobs that advanced users will enjoy. There are a few nuances to be aware of. While it supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi 6, which offers compatibility with older versions of Wi-Fi, placement still depends on having reliable coverage at the install location. At my gazebo across the yard, I decided to join it to my 2.4GHz only network since 2.4 goes further than 5.8. My wi-fi AP is inside the house, so I may end up replacing the factory antenna on the camera with a directional patch antenna to help boost the signal. Also, while the solar panel has kept the battery full for me, shaded areas or prolonged overcast weather could affect charging performance. You also need to purchase a microSD card separately to enable local event storage. These are not deal breakers, but they are practical considerations. At around 120 dollars, I believe this camera matches its price point well and is actually a bargain for a full PTZ camera. It does not replace a full wired PoE system in terms of continuous recording and absolute reliability, but for a wire-free outdoor solution with strong video quality and solid functionality, it comes very close. In some scenarios, especially where running cable is difficult, it can realistically replace higher-end wired alternatives. Overall, this is a high-value option for anyone wanting a flexible, solar-powered outdoor security camera with strong performance and good long-term potential. If you already use Reolink products, the integration within the same app is a major advantage. For new users, it offers an easy entry into a capable and subscription-free security ecosystem, but there is a bit of a learning curve. The directions are pretty clear, and if you aren’t the type of person who calls tech support on the first sign of trouble, this is a great solution. As long as you have decent WiFi coverage and reasonable sunlight, it is a practical and well-built solution.

Solid support, glitches in the matrix.
Updated review: While basic camera review remains the same - wasn't performing up to my expectations, I will add that Reolink saw the negative review and contacted and has worked with me to replace the camera and get it working well enough. I did have to pay to return the RMA. Even with the new camera I still experience quite a bit of clipped events. For instance, a vehicle drives by, and the motion is detected but the recording only shows the last 6-7 seconds. Since the replacement camera supplied was an Atlas, I'm going to suggest that this problem might be more related to the NVR software than the cameras themselves - or there is a more general flaw. - The other point of the camera taking in water - I haven't seen that again. In general these cameras are high quality but there are some glitches. If the cameras just captured events from beginning to end, then they'd be 5 stars. Original review (2 stars): I have other Reolink cameras and NVR, so I have some comparisons. I added this to an existing POE system. Generally the features of this camera read well, but in practice it didn't work very well. 1 out of 10 motion detected were actually saved to the NVR, the majority it just recorded a black/no video for the length of the motion event. When it did record the quality is sub par compared to my 12MP cameras. I did not add an SD card (as the NVR should record the videos). However, not recording the motion events made it pretty useless, and then 90 days after install had a big rain - and so much for IP64 - it's now just a broken non functional waterlogged paperweight that looks like a camera.

Best solar camera
Fantastic product and brand, I've been using the 2k for years and had to get the new 4k version. It has many features and is easy to setup and install. I highly recommend relink for your security needs

Excellent product
Completely impressed, uses wifi, clear image, live viewing from anywhere as long as wifi signal is available, we use it as a driveway announcer also, let's one know if the motion detected was a vehicle, person, or animal. Has been in operation for a few months now even past minus 20 degrees Celsius, always maintains battery via solar as it is in a remote location. No more surprise visits picks up the motion every time. Even if the wifi signal is lost, it will still record events to the SD card, which can be viewed once the wifi signal has been restored. Would recommend easy to setup as well. Nice app functionality.
