Can you remove the hook and attach a regular key ring instead?

We would not recommend doing that as it would compromise the integrity of the lanyard. If you're looking for a different clasp, we would recommend our Keychain Clip which you can find here on Amazon.

does this lay flat & not twisted? Mine won’t lay flat is this a defect??

Although well made I am not using it. It is too bulky to wear underneath garments as the heart monitor is too heavy.

Will this lanyard work for Disney trading pins?

The width of the lanyard is about 3/4" and it is heavier than regular ribbon but not real heavy. I don't know how big or heavy the Disney pins are. It has a nice closure.
