Great retro arcade
Love the design and the retro look. Very nice to have as part of the complete set! The screen is large enough to play without straining and is clear with full color.

WILL NOT RUN ON BATTERIES
I'm collecting these MyArcade machines, and this is trend I'm noticing. All of them worked great except Burgertime.... it would not work on batteries. Brick. But hooked to a USB, it would work. I returned it and the replacement HAD THE SAME ISSUE. Well now I'm seeing the same thing with Karate Champ. It won't run on batteries, only on USB. I've requested a replacement but I'm thinking the new one won't work either. If it doesn't, Im DONE with these things. UPDATE 5-18-2020 Yup, sure enough. The replacement won’t run on batteries either. I think this is an issue with the Data East My Arcades. I’m amazed nobody else is posting this. They are 0-4.

Not the same as the original Karate Champ.
I used to play the original arcade version by Data East in arcades in the 1980's. This is not same as the original game, as far as music, sound effects, background flow, and characters. First off, this starts off on a background that didn't come in the original until you won at least a couple fights. Second, this has music playing that either was just in the credit screens of the original or something else. It wasn't playing during fights in the original version. Third, there is no "girl" animation, nor does the referee say "BEGIN", or "HALF POINT", or "FULL POINT" at all. I don't see new people picking this up without having ever played it in the past. Why would they butcher the game like this? PC gone haywire? I just don't get it.

Obviously not the dual joystick arcade machine. This version control layout is available online. Recommend u download and print out. Understanding the joystick/buttons combo makes the game 5 stars.

シリーズの第一段がカラテチャンプ(ディスクシステム版空手道)コレです。
このシリーズの中では、いちばんレバーとスティックの組み合わせを使うと思います。 元々レバー二本で操作するゲームのコンシューマー移植なので複雑に感じるかもしれませんが、操作に慣れればカラテチャンプは面白いゲームですよ。 残念なのは合成音のセリフが削られている部分です(それで－★1)。 ミニ筐体としてのインテリア性も好いもので私は気に入っています。

Nostalgic
My husband LOVES KARATE CHAMP. he used to Play it in the arcade all the time. We dont have room for the big authentic one but this was the next beat thing! Mayne one day we will get the big one but this is holding him over anytime he wants to feel like a kid again. Me on the ither hand ... I love the current gaming opmtions! I just dont jave patients for the really old school games anymore lol.
