Major improvements make this the best value buy
First, some major design improvements made by Badger since they first released this: the power switch is now easily accessible on the back of the motor unit; the safety release valve no longer rattles against the tank when the compressor is on; the compressor is quieter than previous version and the motor is higher power (fills faster), the hose fitting on the regulator is now 1/8 inch to fit most airbrush hoses without an adapter; gauge is now easier to read and can be angled to preferred viewing. This is the cheapest high-quality tank compressor for airbrushes you are going to find, IMO. It is quiet enough that you won't be bothered by it unless you put it right up to your ear or are extremely fussy, and it only runs a small part of the time unless you use a high volume airbrush and keep the trigger down constantly for very long periods of time (unlikely unless you have a very large paint supply attached). The tank fills from empty in just under a minute. Most of the time the compressor turns on, which it will do automatically at 3 bar, it's only topping off the tank, so it will run about 20 seconds and shut down automatically (at 4 bar). Unless you are on a serious painting marathon, it won't turn on all that often. Even laying down a primer coat on a 1/48 scale fighter jet model, I find it only kicks on a couple times. I tend to use about 20 psi when I'm doing this and work in sections, so the trigger is down for maybe 20-30 seconds at a time at most. My only complaint is that the gauge on the regulator is a 100 psi gauge. The tank fills to 57 psi as it's operating maximum. I bought a 60 psi gauge of the same size for less than $5 and swapped it out, which makes it much easier to dial in the exact regulated pressure I want. I'd recommend this to anybody who owns this compressor. Just look for a gauge that reads up to 60 psi, has a 1.5 inch dial and a 1/8 inch NPT connection. The NPT connection needs to be on the bottom or the side. Some gauges come with the NPT connection in the back center, but that will make the dial impossible to read unless you remove the cover since it will be facing the inside of the cover. Pros - Tank+regulator = completely consistent and steady airflow Quiet when running Only makes noise when running, which is not much unless you're doing a massive job Portable - handle on top and about the weight of a medium sized carry on bag Solid steel case protects the parts well Price point is extremely competitive for similar products Cons - Gauge runs to 100 psi even though tank fills to 57 psi, would be easier to read with a 60 psi gauge.

Totally Boss, Dude!
This thing is quiet! I mean, you can hear it, but it doesn't disrupt my wife when she's nagging me to do the dishes instead of perfect my craft of airbrushing totally boss custom t-shirts. and I don't have to crank my music while I use it. I still do, but that's because Skynyrd is best when loud, not because I can't hear it over this little dude. Which brings me to my next point. The size. It's good. It's about the size of a desktop computer tower. Not bad for a compressor and a tank. I have all my airbrushing gear in a 5 drawer craftsman roll-away tool chest, and it fits perectly in the bottom compartment next to my special edition Vanna White playboy issue. Which I only have because it's got an interesring article in it. It comes with a regulator and a moisture trap. (I wish my wife would regulater HER moisture trap. Flappin' gums all day.) Which is nice. Because there's nothin worse than gettin almost done with a bitchin' freedom eagle on a black beefy-t when all of a sudden spatters happen. I mean, hey, these colors don't sposeda run! Because the moisture trap keeps it from happening. I guess, overall, it's a solid product. Like, really. It's sturdy and well built. Not all cheap and flimsy. Like my mother in law's cooking. If you're an avid airbrusher like me, you need this compressor!

Great Buy
The assembly of the valve, the gauge and moisture trap was very easy. Came in 3 pieces and only took 20 minutes to set up. Also came with Teflon tape to help prevent air leaks. I'd recommend taping all threading of attaching parts. The motor does shut off automatically once the air tank is filled, and its very quiet. I really like the exterior durable casing around the tanks to prevent damage, and it's still pretty compact. I would highly recommend this compressor.

I received mine with a broken metal fitting for the pump to tank.
Right out of the box it was broken. The fitting the holds the metal air tube from the pump to the tank was snapped in half leaving the broken half stuck in the air tank. I purchased this unit as a previously returned item at a $60 discount. It looks like the item was broken by the previous owner, then returned. I can't see how that fitting was damaged in shipping as it is secured inside the case free from being impacted. Amazon must have re-boxed it for re-sale without inspecting it. I have tools, so I removed the remnants of the broken barrel nut that was glued into the tank. I used automotive broken fastener extractor tools to perform that task and a butane torch. The problem was replacing the broken part as it is a European "BSP" standard sized fitting, and not available at your local hardware store. Fortunately Amazon has a 7 piece airbrush fitting adapter kit that included the piece I needed (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0774KJTS7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). My only other choice was to use a tap to bore it out to a slightly larger US standard fitting, or return the compressor to Amazon. I recommend purchasing as least one of those airbrush adapter fittings kits if you purchase this compressor, and don't worry they are inexpensive at about $10. The compressor worked great once it was repaired. I will update this review once I get more use out of it. Badger's web page seems to have a lot of parts available for this air compressor listed, but I am not sure of the availability. It seems the price of this unit has decreased substantially, as it is now for sale at the bargain price I got it for.....about $60 cheaper. It was for sale for over $200. This unit looks to be easy to repair should something fail. The regulator and pressure gauge are tight and straight. And most of all this compressor is very quiet. It is about the same noise level at those large electric back massager. The metal enclosure helps make it portable, and protects the compressor. The two airbrush holders on top are very handy. Neat little unit. It should be noted that the compressor is Chinese made with Badger labels applied.

The unit is quiet enough and doesn't scare the crap out of me when it kicks on
I purchased and have used this compressor for over 10 years. I didn't use it for a year and it fired up with no issues. It's just a workhorse and it looks like they've upgraded it so it's likely better. I use it with the Iwata Revolution air brush and I plan on using it until the wheels fall off, it's pretty good. It could be quieter but I have no issues with it indoors. Can't wait until it breaks so I can buy the new one, J/K!!! Lol.

Horrible quality control
no idea how this is allowed, the electical prongs came bent in, the case looks like it was beat with a hammer, the regulator and guage will not fit correct, like shown in the pics, and when it runs it rattles louder than the compressor. i have a replacement on the way, but that was horrible quality control for badger. UPDATE I recieved the replacment and this one is much better, everything is right, and it is quiet and seems to keep steady pressure, so if your unit arrive as it should this is a good compressor.

Great compressor
A number of reviews complain about the regulator being sheared off or broken. Badger must have corrected this issue because the regulator came in a separate box tucked away in a safe spot in the box, along with a complimentary roll of Teflon tape. I took the top of the case off so I could check all of the fittings for leaks. I didn't find any leaks on any of the already screwed in fittings. And was happy with how easy it is to take the case on and off. It's only 6 screws along the bottom of the case. Performance wise I use the compressor with an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS to paint miniatures. And it works fantastically.

Arrived missing the 6' hose ....
OK, I haven't powered it up as yet, but on initial opening ... it's Supposed to have a 6ft hose in the box. Instead there was what looks like some sort of adapter, but No Hose ... Kids, this thing runs $350.00 or so, that puts in in the high end tool category ... Not including Everything that Should be an was advertised to be in the package is trashy, correctable, but trashy. My general expectation is that if I pay what seems top dollar for a tool, I Expect to get top shelf merch. Figure out who's screwing up an give 'em the boot, yeah?!! OTherwise, well, we'll see if this compressor is or isn't all that it's hyped to be, but yeah, kind a lamo to skip parts, yeah? Addendum: while Badger isn't reachable so much, Amazon was an did their usual, which is Great! They immediately refunded 10% of the purchase, which as luck would have it is Roughly what it'll cost to buy Some kind of hose replacement. The compressor itself seems ok, thus far. However, I'll think twice before bothering to buy badger much of anything else. There's just No guarantee that what you order will for sure be what was advertised, what arrives well might be missing key pieces, a common theme I found for badger stuff.

Great, quiet compressor
This compressor has been a workhorse for me for more than a year. My only complaint is that getting the regulator in a position where the PSI gague was facing "up" was a bit of a challenge. Otherwise, this is a quiet and reliable compressor that has done the trick for me in every way.

Great compressor
Was a bit expensive but it does exactly what I want it to. I live in an apartment and this compressor is very quiet and only takes around a minute to fill from empty. When I say quiet you can barely hear it if you leave the room. Someone can be sleeping in the bedroom and they would not notice. It's fairly light a compact. fits nicely under my desk.

Nice Air compresser for air brush
I have mine hooked up to an iwata brush and so far there have been zero issues. It runs well and though it's a bit loud for late night work. The tank capacity seems to give you about a minute of work before it tops up automatically and shuts down again when it's at pressure. All the fittings are good quality too.
