Needle Flame Torch Kit - Assembled

As a professional restorer of antique furniture I often need to repair hardware such as locks, keys, brass castors and the like. Although I have a Mapp Gas brazing torch I thought a propane jewellers torch would be handy however I am very disappointed with the Sievert Needle Flame Torch Kit. Whilst it is well made and a pleasant to operate the torch fails to generate enough heat ! Trying to get to a cherry red on a 8 mm diameter m/ S rod was impossible so reverted to the Mapp which did the business. My propane cylinder is full, all screw threads on the torch were wrapped with PTFE tape and checked with soapy water for leaks, and I use ex electric storage heater fire bricks as a hearth. Perhaps I have purchased the wrong torch as the Mapp burns with a ferocious heat as opposed to the weak flame produced by this Sievert Needle Flame Kit. Any suggestions welcomed
