A very fast way to keep your knives sharp.
I am a sharp knife freak. What I love about this rod, is the angle guide and the fact that it is very fine diamond. This is not the sharpener to get your knives to top shape. But once you have them there this is the best way to keep them sharp. I use it for about 5 swipes per side before doing any serious cutting.

It does what it promises !!!
By far the best sharpener I have ever used. The 1200 grit size hones the knives to a razor sharp edge.

Amazing feel and Knife Sharper Quicker
Fine diamond coating is nice. It is still new so I would like to see how it holds up after years of use. After trying, I bought 2 more for my coworker and myself at work. My coworker has more experience butchering and does like using it and said out of habit he will still use his ceramic and smooth steel, but has been using this diamond steel as well. I replaced my coarse steel work had given me with this steel. Engraving my name on it!

The finer grit puts a razor's edge on my best knives
So far ... so good. I've had this sharpener for about a week, and used it on three knives, abut twice on each. My prior sharpener was the 600-grit The Ultimate Edge in the oval shape, and it worked out very well, but over 18 months, the diamond surface grit has started to wear off. I'm very particular about my various non-serrated knives and they were not really needing a severe redressing. From the Amazon page, this looked almost like a honing rod rather than a sharpener, but I took a chance. I decided to try the extra fine grit (1,200) and so far I'm very satisfied, finding this Sharpal device (new to my experience) really does enable me to achieve an extremely sharp edge. I use it about every 2nd or 3rd time for each knife before I use it, and I usually do only 2 swipes on each side of the blade. With its very fine grit, I'm confident that VERY little metal is being removed. I like the extra length (12") and the heaviness/sturdiness of the item is conforming without it being cumbersome. It feels like it's very high quality. I'm hoping for the best, and will update this review as needed.

Best Diamond Rod Sharpener For The Money...
I was looking at another one but I bought this one...I'm glad I purchased this one since it is very good...This was written as a parody to a negative review..Seriously though, I dare someone to find a better one for the money...I also own an excellent eze-lap but the grit is only 600, which for my new 12-15% edge kitchen knives 600 grit isn't fine enough...Which is why I appreciate the 1200 grit of this Sharpeak...I also purchased the 3000 grit ceramic rod which turns any quality steel into razor sharpness...I have used stones and rods but for me the rods are quicker and easier...By the time I prepare the stones for proper sharpening I'm already done with the rod...And with the rod they end up just as razor sharp...Maybe I prefer the rods because of my 40+ years of using an eze-lap pocket type diamond rod sharpener...Like I said though, for quality kitchen knives the sharpeak rod sharpeners cannot be beat for the money...

Great sharpener.
A+ Been using it for several months. GREAT because it sharpens and straightens at the same time. Solid value for the price. Well constructed, ergonomic handle, blah blah etc etc. Buy one.

Angle guide design could be better.
The product seems to be of high quality. My complaint is with the design of the angle guide. It has a hexagonal shape and leads the blade to six specific lines along the sharpening rod. I'm concerned that over time those lines will become worn and lose their sharpening ability. It would be better in my estimation if the guide had a conical shape instead of hexagonal. That way, the sharpening action would be randomly distributed over the entire circumference of the sharpening rod and not along 6 specific lines.

wears out quickly but works very well
i purchased the diamond version rod. it was great for the first 20-ish sharpening sessions but it became ineffective very quickly after that. it still works after 30-ish uses but takes _much_ longer to do it's thing. don't use it to take a very dull knife to a sharp one, it's only for renewing an existing almost-sharp edge. the angle guide thingy on the handle tends to make one wear the rod in 6 places - rotate the rod slightly as the knife is drawn across the length of the rod to even out the wear. not sure if 20° angle is appropriate for regular kitchen knives...🤔 having said all that, it works better than any other sharpening rod i've tried and if you can get it at a discount, it's an ok deal.

Nous cuisinons beaucoup, cet outil est excellent. L’ergonomie de la poignée est très bien et la longueur de la « lame » est parfaite pour de grands couteaux.
