I wasn’t expecting to love a water sensor, but here we are! The GoveeLife Water Leak Sensors have completely changed how I feel about potential water damage in my home. I placed them near my hot water tank, under the kitchen sink, and by the washing machine — and the setup was a breeze. What really impressed me was the instant mobile alert feature. I did a test spill and my phone pinged within seconds. No delays. No false alarms either. The app is intuitive and the sensors feel solid and reliable. Bonus points for the loud audible alarm — you’ll definitely hear it even if you’re in another room. Battery life seems great so far, and I love that it connects without needing a hub. This is one of those small purchases that offers huge peace of mind. Highly recommend to any homeowner or renter — it’s a small investment that could save you from a major headache later.

I have several Govee products. I love the simplicity of this water leak detector. Set up is a breeze and went EXACTLY as described. (5 stars just for that fact 😀). Once plugged into the electrical outlet, the connection to WIFI of the hub unit is straightforward. In the Govee app. you are able to name each sensor to the appropriate location. You can adjust the alarm volume and set up alerts to your email address (in addition to the alert in the app.) I tested each sensor, they are super sensitive and react in seconds. I placed sensors in the HVAC cupboard (pity I didn’t buy this last year, the a/c condensate alarm failed and we had $4000 worth of damage ☹️), under the sinks, washing machine and refrigerator. If you’re like most folks the last time you pulled the washing machine out - was the day it was installed. For me that was 10 years ago. Today, while cleaning and placing the leak detector behind the washing m/c I noticed a very small leak where the stainless steel hose connects (to the screw connector 😳). I guess I got lucky this time !

Our kitchen has hardwood floors. So, we are always concerned about water leaking onto the floors and damaging the wood. We decided to try these detectors. They work fantastic. I tested each one before I put them to use. One under the refrigerator, one under the dishwasher, one under the kitchen sink and one behind the wash machine in the laundry room. It was super easy to link these to my WiFi and then to install them on the App. They are programmed to notify me of leak through the App. They also send me a text message and send both my wife and me an email. This is in addition to the loud beeping sound they make. The sensors are small and fit under the refrigerator. When testing, they were very sensitive to water. The gateway stays plugged in and the batteries (2 AAA) in each detector (supplied) lasts for 5 years. The gateway is compatible with all Govee devices. So, I was able to link the thermometer and relative humidity detector in our crawl space to the gateway. Previously, I needed Bluetooth and being nearby to pick up the temperature in the crawl space....now it is over WiFi and I get the signal anywhere. A fantastic product.

This system and the actual sensors were fairly straightforward to set up. The main hurdle is placement of the "Gateway"/Hub in a spot where not only is the Wifi signal strong but also close enough to the individual sensors to receive their signal. I find the "Gateway" on the main floor can reach a sensor in the basement, the second floor and with a slight reduction in signal, the attic. Once the (free, no subscription fee) "Govee Home" app is downloaded and the gateway communicates with your device (phone/iPad) you can identify each (unlabelled) sensor (ideally in the location you plan to place it) by pressing the test button on the sensor which highlights the specific sensor shown in the app on your device and allows you to set the volume of the alarm, name the sensor, set up an alert to your email, an announcement to your "alexa device (ex. Echo 5- using the "Alexa" app)" and label the actual sensor (if desired). I found the sensor worked well when water was detected around the hot water tank in the basement and have no regrets in going with this system.
