Surprisingly Versatile, Surprisingly Capable
I’ve used this in the lounge and unplugged it to enjoy music in the garden—it’s genuinely versatile. The sound is pretty strong for its size, with surprisingly good bass and clear treble. It’s not quite hi-fi quality, but it’s more than good enough that I barely touch my full-size system anymore.Connectivity is excellent. Both AirPlay and Chromecast work flawlessly, and its party trick is having both Alexa and Google Assistant built in. Just remember the right trigger word! It’s also one of the rare non-Amazon speakers that plays nicely in an Echo speaker group, which is a real bonus. It's pretty easy to set up via the JBL app where you can also adjust the more advanced features and a full EQ.I love the way you can unplug it and take it somewhere and it just carries on uninterrupted. Definitely enough battery for a party or BBQ.Overall, very happy with this premium quality speaker. Might consider getting the Authentics 500 as a result.

Great clarity, but lacks depth and consistency at an expensive asking price
I tested the JBL Authentics 300 across different genres and environments, and it has a clear strength: vocals and instruments like guitars sound very clean and well-separated. For vocal-heavy or softer tracks, it can sound really nice and refined. However, the experience is inconsistent. Some songs sound great, while others feel hollow with noticeably weaker bass. It doesn’t add much weight or depth to the music, so tracks that rely on energy and low-end presence can feel flat. It stays controlled and polite, which can make the sound feel restricted.Wi-Fi connectivity is convenient for streaming and works well, but in terms of actual sound performance, it doesn’t offer a meaningful advantage over good Bluetooth speakers. At around 1699 SAR, the price feels too high for what it delivers. You’re paying a premium for design and branding, but the sound performance doesn’t fully justify it.Verdict:Excellent for clarity and vocals. In smaller rooms and at moderate volumes, it performs better and suits relaxed listening. However, it is limited in depth, impact, and overall versatility, and does not offer the best value at this price point.

Beautiful rounded sound, solid build quality
Rich, room-filling bass gives this speaker the hairs-on-end oomph I was after. The down-firing woofer on the underside delivers all the wub-wub & rumble you could hope for at this price point. I tried an Anker Soundcore Boom before I got this, and that sounded tinny by comparison. The mid-range and top-end are also well-balanced and crisp. The design is retro without being whimsical; the right balance of understated classic with modern touches - the proper turn-able volume/bass/treble controls on the top are pleasing to the touch. It's heavy and solidly built and feels like it'll last. You wouldn't want to put it in your backpack for a picnic, but it'd fit easily enough in the boot of the car for days/evenings outside where you want a decent sound system. I keep it on my desk for wfh and carry it round the house when I want tunes while doing yoga, playing darts downstairs or cleaning my bike. I found the bluetooth/wifi connectivity easy to navigate, and use the JBL app to set custom equaliser levels (though you don't have to bother with that if you just want to plug it in and play). It's kinda mid-ranged price-wise - more than Soundcore but less than Sonos and I'd say it's well worth the money. We have a Sonos in the kitchen and the sound quality of the JBL is at least as good.
