7" BoArt Rain Gauge easy to check and read.
The 7" BoArt Rain Gauge comes with a range of installation heights, though the stabilizing L=Bracket is a little fragile and easy to bend and break. Overall I am happy with the BoArt Rain Gauge, it is easy to check and read. I also like how easily the cylinder slides out of the mounting bracket to read and empty.

Not freeze proof.
It is not freeze proof!! I like the product even so.

NOT Freeze Proof-Resistant!!!
Loved this rain gage until a cold front pushed through after a light rain which left about 1/8 inch of water in the gage and it froze over night resulting in cracking the tube. NOT freeze proof-resistant as advertised!!!

Nice and easy
Easy to set up on ground or on a galvanized post like I did. Easy to read from a distance also.

Best rain gauge I've owned, but still the plastic cracked
This is the best rain gauge I've ever had, for visibility, adjustable height, and attractiveness. That said, the plastic did crack this past winter when there was water in it and a hard freeze came overnight. I suppose I should bring it indoors if it's raining and likely to freeze, but that defeats the purpose. I'm buying another one because I haven't seen anything better, but I wish there were a way to avoid its cracking.

Best rain gauge
I have purchased a number of rain gauges in the past. This is certainly the best. It is large and very easy to read. It is sturdy. I stuck the holder in the ground where nothing obstructs rain falling at an angle. The tube can easily be taken out for reading and easy to place back in the holder. Although I have had it less than a year, I expect it to outlast any of the others I have purchased. It could be the last one I ever buy. Definitely worth paying a little more for.

Not freeze proof
We, like half the country, had a bad cold snap with freezing rain. After the thaw I checked the rain gauge to see how much precipitation accompanied the storm. The gauge was cracked and empty. Hence it was not freeze proof at 17 degrees.
