Thomas' Calculus

I love this calculus book! Excellent buy on my part. The owner was very honest on what condition it was in. It has been such a great book to get me to understand calculus better. I just switched to being an Engineering Physics major so at this point I'm just trying to get up to speed with the rest of my class (I tested out of Calculus I in high school with AP Calculus, so I needed to refresh my Calc I before going into Calc II after 3 years of not doing math). This has been a great help for me to learn my calculus. I've barely even needed the teacher's notes! This is a great book for all interested in learning calculus, as it takes you step-by-step through the problems that demonstrate each of the concepts. Overall excellent book! I'd recommend this to all interested in learning calculus.

This is my second copy of this text. My first was the 9th edition, which I really liked. It had gotten too worn over the years, though, and I needed to replace it with a new text, as I want to go over all chapters again. I was a little hesitant on purchasing a newer edition, since I liked the older edition so well, but am glad I purchased this 12th edition. It's just as thorough as the 9th edition,if not more, and the illustrations are better. It also seems to have a little more and better exercises. I own quite a few other calculus textbooks, which are very high rated, but this Thomas text is still my most favorite.

This book is perfect. Riveting I say! I was expecting another one of those vampire or wizard type series but after finishing reading this 12th book in the "Calculus" series of novels, I still cannot get enough. The author does a great job of creating character perspective, the story is quite dynamic and not linear whatsoever. This book has so many twists and turns I laughed and cried all the way through :) 72/72 stars

Professor Thomas has great credentials and was an excellent teacher at MIT. I consider this book a great addition to my book shelf for preparing course work. I will consider it as a text book in the near future.

$150 less than RENTING it at the campus book store, so I was expecting some damage. The only thing wrong is that the back cover is rippled and kind of cracked and there are like 20 pages that are bent on the bottom corner. It was a STEAL!! Very good deal!

This book was just OK. Nothing special here. I only rented the book from Amazon because I had to have it for my Calc III class. Part of the problem with this book and today's math books is that they delve far too much into the theory and not enough into application. Being a civil engineering student and not a mathematics student, I'm more interested in learning how to apply the math, not learning how to prove and derive theorems. In short, today's books need to be written more in laymans terms. Anyhow, the book worked and I got a good grade so everything turned out good.

Solid textbook content. As useful as 'Larson's Calculus' but Thomas is a better all-around textbook. Do yourself a favor and use the 12th edition instead of the latest edition, which is no. 13. Save yourself a big mound of cash when you buy this older version. As they say, Calculus hasn't changed much in 200 years, relatively speaking. LOL.

This is a very good Mathematics book for students interested in Calculus. The content is very comprehensive and detailed for the concept. But only Chapter 17 is not included, and it would be better if all 17 chapters are printed together for convenience.

I was looking for a book to understand some concepts of engineering mathematics more deeply than given in conventional books (Like Erwin, Greenberg). some topics, like partial derivatives, vector calculus etc are explained very clearly and deeply. But buy only if you want to have very good knowledge, not for 'getting good marks'in exams but for more than that.

Bought his for a friend who had used this book in the past and loved it and had to have it.It was delivered promptly and was in good condition.
