Just Buy It!
Other than the lengthy waiting period we were super pleased to receive the DNA results for our boy. For 8 years we believed him to be GSD and Lab, turns out sir is Husky and Rottweiler haha! Goes to show you can’t believe everything you read on FB marketplace..😂

Completely Inaccurate and Horrible Support
I ordered this originally because I adopted a cute Terrier mix 6 years ago and just wanted to see what breeds she is mixed with. From others who have seen my dog, they think she is mixed with Terrier, Yorkie, and possibly a bit of Dachshund. I came across this test and since it was from AncestryDNA, I thought it would be accurate. Well... I was competely wrong. After going through the test and sending it off, about a month later, I got the notification that the results were ready. The first display on the dashboard said my dog was half wolf, half Husky lol. I reached out to support by email, as there wasn't a customer support phone number, and that took a few days to get a response. They mentioned some generic email about their tests not being completely accurate and still in early stages, meaning they need more dog DNA to get more accuracy. But a follow up email mentioned the results had been updated. Well... it said my dog was 100% Dachshund. So I continued to reach out to support, thinking maybe the test I sent in was faulty or mixed up. I was hoping I could get a new test, but I was getting responses once a week, which was awful. They also never directly addressed the inaccuracies, circling around potential reasons it shows these results. Logging into the dashboard now, it seems the results have changed again to 62% Dachshund, 38% Chihuahua. TLDR: I would stay away from this test and try a test elsewhere or save your money. I've attached pictures of the current results (3rd time changing), and a photo of my dog for reference.

Fast, Accurate, and Eye-Opening!
We ordered the Ancestry Pet DNA test, and it arrived quickly—great start! The test was super easy to use, and we were thrilled to finally learn more about our dog’s background. When we got our pup, we were told she was a Pomsky (a small dog). Imagine our surprise when the DNA results came back and showed she’s actually 60% Siberian Husky and 20% Samoyed—a mix of two breeds known for being big dogs! No wonder she kept growing and growing. The accuracy of this test is incredible, and it gave us valuable insights into her breed characteristics, which helped us adjust her training and care. It was fun, informative, and totally worth it.

Seems to Have Gotten the DNA but not the Traits
They got the DNA correct and customer service is great - they kept me informed of what they were doing through every step of the way. I knew my dog was at least half Chihuahua although he looks nothing like a Chihuahua and does not act at all like one. His other DNA, which I did not know, but could easily guess by looking at him, seems spot on. I did not send a pic and they said the next most DNA was Maltese and the least was Shih Ziu. Everyone who sees him thinks he is one of those; and he goes everywhere I do, and almost everyday we go to a crowded, popular dog park - so many, many people have seen him. All the people at the park and family and friends all thought he was Shih Ziu or maybe Maltese. No one believes he has any Chihuahua; but I saw his mother who is 100 percent so I knew he was at least 50 percent. He has long, long, wavy white and cream hair, a Shih Ziu bite as per the AKC standard for Shih Ziu, a short snout and a wide almost flat nose, an outgoing, extra friendly personality and loves all dogs and people of all sizes and shapes, loves to sit in your lap and always wants to be next to me at all times, never snaps at anyone and just does not have a Chihuahua personality at all. That was where Ancestry got things wrong. They thought he looks like a Chi and acts like one, but he took the looks and personality of his Maltese and Shih Zui DNA. I told everyone I know and they still won't believe me that his mother was a Chihuahua but I saw her and her puppies. He was the only one with long hair and I thought he was going to be a long hair Chihuahua. Also, he weighs ten lbs. - too big to be a full Chi or Maltese but Shih Zui males can reach 16 lbs but he won't because he is already eight months old. So, as far as the DNA goes, I think they got it right but not the traits or what breed he looks like.

I felt my results were accurate
I was totally skeptical. When i submitted this they want me to make a profile and submit pics and specs on my dog but i left it blank bc i didn’t trust they might use the info to get dog breeds that matched his appearance(I’ve heard people say their results have been way weird like a chihuahua for their German shepherd) but my results seem pretty accurate to what my dog is. I’m impressed i was told by the first owner he was heavy German shepherd and husky and those were both up there! I think this was great
