Escape room Advent calendar

Ignore comments about the QR code not working, the servers just went down for an hour or so on day 1, probably due a high level of activity! The best ‘advent calendar’ I’ve ever had. I thought it was just going to be an individual puzzle a day type thing, but it’s not and it’s incredibly well thought out. Sets up with an initial story, which I guess you can take it or leave it, but I think it adds another level of engagement. Whilst solving the puzzles you need to use your phone / device to scan a QR code, this is then used for entering your answer and there are also hints available if you need them. Once you have a correct answer you’re then given a number which will later be used in further puzzles. The animations / graphics are of a high quality and it doesn’t feel like a cheaply, rushed together effort. The puzzles (so far) are logic based, unique and make you think outside of the box… or my in case, overthink, on day 2 *face palm*. I think it would be very harsh and unfair if the QR code not working for a short amount time were to overshadow the effort and execution of this book. Don’t be put off by the reviews saying it’s rubbish because the QR code doesn’t work, It started working the next day! Yes, we were disappointed when we couldn’t access the QR code on day 1 and thought it didnt work, but the next day it was active again and the creators wrote a nice message to explain what had happened. We had wondered if they had been a victim of their own success and couldn't cope with demand, I am sorry now that I had already requested a refund immediately due to being disappointed. So stick with it, the puzzles so far have been great, enough of a challenge, but not frustratingly so, as you can get hints if you're stuck, just as in a real escape room! Great alternative to a chocolate adventure calendar, and great family fun!

Apparently they were hacked on day 1 and so for some people the QR code didn't work, it was fine for me and I have submitted all my answers no problem. I am quite enjoying the book, the story seems interesting and quite topical to society today. The puzzles are quite difficult and challenging, requiring at least some knowledge in the area the puzzle is based on, the internet can be helpful.

This certainly kept my wife busy but I realised near the start that there had better be a good reward for all her efforts so I wrapped up some goodies to keep her motivated. Just as well as The ending was pretty meh - at least so some cool unlocking animation or discount voucher for the next one?

The best advent calendar I have had as it kept me busy for the whole of advent. Some days were more difficult than others and sometimes I overthought it. Similar to Journal 29 series so I was already used to the type of logic puzzles included. Highly recommend! I had no problem with accessing QR codes.

I didn't have any issues with the QR codes not working and, TBH, I wouldn't have known about it if the app hadn't posted a begging note asking everyone to review it once it was up and running again. I agree with most of the other 3 star reviews on here. The book is an excellent idea, but there's something missing in the way the app interacts with it. I've found it really difficult for some of the days to work out what was needed and then to input it the correct way. The book seemed to assume that I'd work out how to put the answer in correctly by some kind of psychic ability. I feel a bit more explanation would have helped. And also, for example the days with the skeletons, I can't work out how they got the answer they did. I had the right idea but the wrong number. A full explanation of what I was supposed to have done would be helpful. Also, is it wrong that, having read the other reviews, I now feel disappointed that my copy didn't contain a random page from some sex guide (as another reviewer's apparently did)?!?!?!??!

Absolutely loving this advent calendar and concept. Good puzzles but can be solved so none of the frustration that can come with tasks too difficult. Comes with hints if needed. I cannot wait to get tomorrows puzzle. I had no problems with the QR code and others have mentioned this was a temporary issue and the makers have sent a note and apologised for it. So very pleased with this book and I hope to escape the book by Christmas which has a background story to really get you invested. I will definitely be buying any others they release!

I love puzzles, I love quests, and I really loved this calendar. I solved four days of the riddles, and I must say this is incredible. I didn’t expect much from this calendar, but it amused me. Solving all of these riddles is really fascinating. I love the way the riddles are not so easy and not so difficult. Also, this is so cool that the website has hints. It really helps when you are stuck in solving. The calendar was not so expensive but gave me a lot of good emotions. I recommend it to everyone who loves games and riddles.

If you are good at figuring out escape rooms and brain puzzles, this is for you! The book is basically pencil sketches, but its very well done. The answers to previous puzzles sometimes give you help solving the current one. At no point did we ever say "Oh that was an easy one!" They are VERY challenging!! I got this for my 14 yr old son who loves escape room games and puzzles. Unless you have a little Einstein on your hands, i wouldn't go any younger than that. We started doing it together, and it took both of us and our combined knowledge and googling skills! It started out very fun! You open the book and each daily puzzle spans 2 pgs. Each puzzle has a QR code for clues if you're stuck, and to enter in the solution you come up with. You will definitely need to use google, and for some, you will absolutely need to get clues. Sadly, some got to be so challenging that we just couldn't figure it out and my teen lost interest. i had also given this book to my sister's girls, 14 and 10, and it ended up being my sister and her husband doing them with some "help" from the girls. I would say this isn't for just a casual puzzler, but for someone who's really good at working things out. If this applies to you or someone you know, i highly recommend this book. It definitely gives your brain a workout!
