Eve Door & Window (Matter) 3 Pack
I have many of these sensors that I've purchased over the past few years. I keep buying them because they function as expected. Their response time in logging is good. ease of install? Matter makes installing and adding these devices to Apple Home super easy. As far as durability, I dropped a sensor and now the toggle for reset is no longer aligned with the tiny hole in back. Overall, I'm happy with all my Eve Home products.

Reliable & fast contact sensor trigger w/thread
I've got HomePod Minis and Eve Energy devices so I'm using the Eve Door & Window with thread. They come with plenty of spacers to adjust the non-battery powered passive part of the contact sensor. So depending on your door or whatever, most people should find a way to make these work. The battery cover is hard to install and feels like you're forcing it on -- so I'm concerned that battery replacement might be frustrating. So try to be sure there's a way to remove the active sensor from the battery door, which is done by sliding away the sensor body. Those are the only negative things I can say about these devices. Importantly, the both my Window and Door contact sensors already had the new Thread firmware (purchased in July 2021). So I did not need to upgrade their firmware. At first when I added an Eve contact sensor, it didn't trigger automations reliably. So I rebooted all my Eve Energy and HomePod devices. Since then they've been working flawlessly, every time, and near instantly. I have one contact sensor that turns on the hallway lights when the closet doors are opened, and turns them off when closed. I have another sensor on a slider that we only open up to let fresh air in. So I set up an automation to put our Ecobee into away mode to keep the AC or heat from turning on when we have the windows open. They've been extremely fast, triggering within a second of opening or closing. By using the Eve app I can see that so far these contact sensor Thread end-points are relaying their activity to an Eve Energy thread router that is about 30-40 feet away with several walls. That's impressive range and I'm surprised they're not routing through closer HomePod Minis or NanoLeaf Essentials bulbs. I plan on buying more of these devices soon as I can think of more practical, life improving things to do with them :-)

Setup took longer than expected, in the end works as advertised
Tried to setup on Thread via new Apple TV 4K, unable to setup via iPhone 12 Pro for about few hours. In the end had to use latest iPad mini to scan the QR code and add to HomeKit. So I wonder if it was Apple software bug. Post setup everything works as expected. Just wished more features were available on HomeKit. Such as integration with other apps on eve notifications similar to ifttt.

Not easy to setup
Won’t connect at all. Was only able to get 1 to work. Really disappointed in them

Very reliable, chunky, hard to remove battery
I’ve never experienced any hiccups or disconnections from my thread network using this contact sensor. Reliability is more than good. I think what needs to be understood is the placement of the border router/mains thread router devices.. With that being said, sticking the sensor on certain door frames is tricky because of its chunkiness. It’s chunky! The included spacers are helpful but…….wow…..they make the aesthetics very very very unpleasant if you have to use the spacers. However, I forget about it how ugly it is and am happy with the reliability and battery life. Lastly, replacing the batteries is insanely difficult, and this could break or make a purchase in my opinion…..

Don't expect perfection with Thread
I bought these because they are the only Thread/Homekit capable sensors at the time. I currently have Aqara (hub based) and Vocolinc (wifi) sensors elsewhere. I gave the Aqara a try and they just didn't work in the location. They need to be pretty close to the hub. These cost about 2x what the Aqara sensors do, but at least they work with Thread. This sensor is about 20-25 feet from my HP Mini border router and almost line of sight (slight angle), and I'd say it's about 90% responsive. It drops to bluetooth some of the time for some reason. I don't really have any other options without setting up a wifi access point right next to the sensor, but drawback is power draw and possible slow response. I wouldn't use this Eve sensor for security unless I had 99.999% reliability. TL;DR Yes, it's thread, but even thread isn't totally reliable. Smart home is still in early days and until the tech and the manufacturer standards get better, this is what we get for smart home devices. I have many devices, some are super reliable, but it depends on manufacturer, signal strength, etc. I have very good wifi everywhere, but I still get devices that are unreliable. Price I pay for being an early adopter.
