Meta Ray-Ban glasses review from a dad’s perspective
I absolutely LOVE these glasses. The style, the usability, the video, photo, and audio, clarity everything is just incredible! The battery life could get me through an entire day unless I was shooting a lot of video/photo, then I would get around 4hrs. Which isn’t bad especially with the fast charging speed the charging case offers. I really enjoyed being able to capture my kids having fun without fumbling around in my pocket for my phone. Also my kids wouldn’t freeze up and stop what they were doing because they saw me bring my phone out. They barely noticed me taking video with the glasses. They saw the flashing light on the glasses but didn’t think twice about it. I also loved the fact that I still had both hands available to interact with my kids while capturing incredible POV shots. I signed up for the “Early Access” program to gain access to the upcoming features. The live translations feature was a real game changer. Testing it out with some of my Spanish speaking colleagues was fun but it was really useful when I was recently at a Spanish market and I was able to better communicate. Using the glasses to scan QR code or having John Cena (one of the celebrity voices available for Meta AI” answer a question for me while on the go without bringing out my phone was great. The speakers on the glasses are really good as well. I enjoyed being able to take a call or listen to a podcast while walking around without having my AirPods in my ear. Now don’t get me wrong the sound quality is not matched the the AirPods Pros especially when the noise cancellation is on. But for the convenience and comfort of not having something in your ear and still being able to hear it’s a win for me. I ended up going with the large size, which fit me well. BUT my one issue is that the arms are just a tad but snug by the top of the ear. I was able to find some cushions on Amazon which completely rectified the issue. For around $400 after tax I feel that these glasses are a great value for the money. Also depending on the type of Vision insurance you have they may be covered, at least some of the cost. Which makes them an even better deal.

Could be AMAZING, but 30-45 minutes of battery life using the features is disappointing at best.
The features of the Meta AI software paired with these glasses has a lot of promise! Being able to take a max of 3 minute video, pictures, asking Meta AI questions, listening and responding to texts and calls, music without earbuds. It's all there and as much as I tested those features all "work". When someone suggested I get these for a once in a lifetime vacation in order to document it without being glued to my phone I was intrigued. I felt I could walk around the cities and go on tours without holding my phone up for pictures or videos all the time. There is even the capability to live stream to Facebook or instagram included in the software, which I thought would be amazing to show family and friends that wouldn't be along for the trip. This has great possibilities in the future when we aren't dealing with such a limited battery life. Pros: Possibility of features are rich and easy to use. Lenses were dark, but not too dark for the AZ sun. Lenses were very clear as I could expect from RayBan. Even though I should have bought the Large instead of Regular, the fit was still comfortable. Cons: #1 and most important feature, battery life was dismal, I'll explain more below, but I got about 30-45 minutes of wearing them and they died after having been fully charged. #2 when the battery died, there was no warning that I could see or hear. #3 the weight was a bit uncomfortable, though I'd have lived with that were it not for #1. I bought these ahead of my trip to test them out. My test was to fully charge the glasses and the case, drive 8 freeway miles, walk through a store, checkout, and drive home. During that time I started out by manually engaging the video recording which ended at 3 minutes and then I started another recording. After the second recording I snapped a picture manually touching the button and it was great. Then I received messages that it read out loud for me and I responded to. I asked Meta 2 questions and got the basic responses as expected having not engaged the deeper research mode. I recorded another video. Then I was at the store and wore them in for a part of the trip, but removed them as it felt odd to be wearing sunglasses inside (dark grey lenses, not transitions). Out of the store in 15 minutes and put them back on for the walk to the car, triggering a video recording manually. Started the drive home and decided to test it playing my Apple Music for 1 song and the audio was great. Triggered another video as I neared my exit and then just drove with them on but without using functions. As I neared my destination I tried to trigger another video but there was no response. Placed them in the case and they began to charge and when they had booted back up noticed the battery was at 6%. Less than 45 minutes door to door and no extensive usage meant that if I were to use these on vacation I'd likely be charging them more than wearing them. If you buy them, keep this in mind when making that decision. If that works for you, great. But for me, I want something that will last longer like my watch or phone. Maybe the next generation or two will find power savings and technical enhancements.

The coolest gift ever!!!
We got the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) glasses for our son’s 13th birthday, and honestly, we might be the best and coolest parents on the block right now. These things are a total game changer. He puts them on and instantly feels like a tech-savvy spy from the future. Taking hands-free photos and videos of his friends, listening to music while skating, and even getting directions without pulling out his phone. The style looks just like classic Ray-Bans, so they don’t scream “smart glasses” . They just look sharp. The camera quality is surprisingly good for quick snaps and clips, the audio is crystal clear for calls and Spotify, and the battery lasts through an entire day of adventures. He’s already used them to record his basketball highlights, chat with grandma, and show off to his friends (who are now begging their parents for a pair too). Setup was super easy, and the Meta app connects seamlessly. No complaints at all! These glasses made our kid’s birthday unforgettable and turned us into the coolest parents in the neighborhood overnight. Highly recommend for any teen (or adult) who wants to stay connected in the most stylish way possible! — Super proud (and now legendary) parents!

Just read the review I know its long.
I love and hate these. Reasons why I love them first. 1. Never thought i would like open ear buds but these things are GREAT as head phones. Everyone i show them too is blown away when they put them on to try them out and hear music! You have full awareness around tou because tou dont have something jammed in your ear. And the sounds quality is great. 2. The mic and call quality is GREAT! I work construction and when I have phone calls I have to close up the cab of an excavator so the person on the other end doesn't hear a bunch of noise. These things somehow cancel out background noise better then anything else I've used. People say they cant hear anything when on my end its really loud. 3. I dont wear glasses so its a bit weird for me to be doing so. But it kinda is almost like a disguise. People who see me with them on assume I wear glasses and if they saw me without them maybe I wouldn't be remembered. Idk maybe its something I only care about. 4. With that being said ive always wanted transitional lenses. Don't ask me why just thought they were cool. But in reality. If your not in direct sunlight. Say driving in your car under the shade of the roof they will never transition so using them as driving shades doesnt really work. I guess I wish they were a little more sensitive and got a smidge darker then they do 5. Taking video and pictures without having to pull out a phone is really cool. Being able to ask meta to do it without having to touch anything is even cooler. But thats about it. Quality OK i guess. almost wish there was a way to view the camera through your phone screen so you know if your getting what you want but I think it's a wide enough shot it works for most things. Another thing though is i use them to take videos while I run excavators. And I noticed in my videos im constantly looking around from a safety aspect. So the videos are ok until I snap my head to check before I swing. Then its back to front then it seems like I'm wildly looking around alot when thats really not the case but I do have to move my head to use my peripheral vision so my videos come out with some weird camera work because I'm not thinking about it I guess. 6. Comfortable as normal glasses. Not heavy feeling and dont slip off my nose I can wear them for hours and they dont bother me. I've had ear buds I cant wear for more then an house without head aches. Now the not so great.... Meta AI.....at first I thought this would be great. I talked to it a little bit in the beginning. Asked it simple things. Held a few conversations as i did other things just to test it. And conversationally it wasnt to bad. But that was about it. Its really a novelty at this point and even through updates hasn't really leveled up much. Is replys are basic. Generalized and kinda dumb. Even for simple obvious item is wants to generalize its answer. Its like its scared to get a wrong answer and doesnt feel like its learning so whats then point in calling it an AI if its not taking everything it's learning and using that data to do better next time. Maybe in another 10 years. But even chatgpt I've noticed leaps and bounds in its abilities and replies. Over the short people of time I use it. Also I cant help but to think this thing is listening in and taking videos and pictures Unauthorized on its own accord. Call me suspicious but I wouldn't put it past shumckerburg to have it do something like that. 2. The whole find my car or remember where I put this. I thought as a person with ADHD this was gonna help so much. But you have to remember to make it remember. So that kinda defeats the purpose. Having to make a conscious effort to have it remember effectively makes it useless. Because that conscious effort makes you remember where you left Whatever you wanted to remember and i'm sorry but if you can't find your car in a parking lot, maybe you shouldn't be driving anymore. 3. The "I'm recording light". This is dumb. And I know people have found work arounds but my biggest peeve with this is why DID YOU NOT PUT A FULL BRIGHNTESS LED LIGHT on these things if your gonna go as far to put a dumb little light on them like really! Think about it! Hey meta! Gimme some light! BOOM! INSTANT HEADLAMP. This was a HUGE missed opportunity. If your gonna put a stupid "im recording you light" on these at lease make it be able to be turned up like the little flashlight LED on everyones phone that can be used as a flash light. I mean come on! Serious missed opportunity meta.....People are gonna record anyways. They dont ask permission. Its unfortunately just accepted these days I'm not a huge fan of it but everybody ending up on somebody else's social media page as an NPC eventually. Its unavoidable now a days with EVERYBODY having access to a recording device in their pocket now. So yeah These are a cool piece of tech. Like I said I mainly use them as headphones and to take calls. Im glad I didn't get the 700$ with the screen in them. Cuz let's be honest. At least these still look like raybans. Those new ones look bulky and lame. Don't tell they dont cuz THEY DO. I wish they would come out with a pair of these in oakley batwolf frames. I would buy another pair just for those frames and their side sun glare protection. Normal in front of your face glasses like these have never been my look though my wife finds them attractive on me which I guess is a good thing. Its just not my style. I've only ever liked 2 styles of glasses. The Oakley batwolfs and the traditional ray ban. But 99/100 times ill wear the Oakley just for the wrap around look and protection. Like I said. Cool piece of tech but needs ALOT of improvement before I feel ill be getting another pair

Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Review – Stylish, Functional, and Packed with Tech
I recently purchased two pairs of Ray-Ban Meta glasses—one with transition lenses and one with polarized lenses—and they’ve been a game changer for my daily life and content creation. Here’s a breakdown of my experience with both pairs and their features: What I Loved • Hands-Free Content Creation: These glasses have made it incredibly easy to record high-quality videos while keeping my hands free. As a content creator, I love giving my audience a first-person view of what I’m doing, and the ease of snapping photos or shooting videos on the go is unmatched. • Stylish and Discreet Design: The Wayfarer style is a timeless classic, and over 99% of people won’t even realize these are smart glasses. I get all the benefits of advanced tech without sacrificing style. • Polarized Lens Quality: The clarity of the polarized lenses is unreal. They block out the sun beautifully, especially in Florida’s intense sunlight, and make driving feel sharper and more vibrant. • Immersive Sound Quality: Listening to music and taking calls without earbuds is an incredible experience. The sound is immersive, theater-like, and subtle enough that people nearby won’t hear it. I even had a crystal-clear call with my dad, and he had no idea I was using glasses for audio! The Cons • Transition Lenses Fall Short Outdoors: While they’re great indoors, the transition lenses don’t adapt quickly enough to the Florida sun and don’t block out glare as effectively as polarized lenses. If you need strong sun protection, go for the polarized option. • “Hey Meta” Feature is a Letdown: This was the biggest disappointment. The voice assistant is unreliable and drains the battery rapidly. For example, when I asked it to delete a video, it looped endlessly without actually doing it. It also struggled with recognizing objects—I asked about a man-made mountain, and it gave me a completely inaccurate answer. I’ve since turned this feature off. • Battery Life with “Hey Meta”: With the assistant on, the battery drained by 10% for a 3-minute video. Turning it off drastically improved performance—only 1% battery drain for the same recording length. If you want the glasses to last all day, keep “Hey Meta” off. • Fit Needed Adjustments: Out of the box, the glasses were slightly heavy and slid down my nose. Adding nose pads resolved the issue and made them much more comfortable for extended wear. Overall Thoughts These glasses excel in hands-free convenience, exceptional call quality, and immersive sound, all wrapped in a stylish, discreet design. While the “Hey Meta” feature fell short and the battery life could be better with it enabled, turning it off made a world of difference. If you’re looking for stylish smart glasses that deliver high-quality content creation and audio, I highly recommend these—especially the polarized lenses. They’ve exceeded my expectations in so many ways and are now a daily essential for me!
