A Hauntingly Beautiful Return to Yharnam!
As a huge Bloodborne fan, I had high expectations for this continuation of the critically acclaimed comic series, and I can confidently say it exceeded them all! Cullen Bunn and Piotr Kowalski have once again captured the eerie, gothic horror that makes the world of Yharnam so unforgettable. The story follows hunters Gretchen and Abraham as they descend into the nightmarish depths of the Chalice Dungeons in search of their missing protรฉgรฉ, Lucien. The tension is palpable from the start, with twists and horrors lurking around every shadowed corner. Bunnโs writing is atmospheric and gripping, making every page feel like a descent into madnessโjust like the video game itself. Kowalskiโs artwork is absolutely stunning. Every grotesque beast, crumbling cathedral, and blood-drenched alleyway is brought to life with chilling detail. The panels ooze with the dark, macabre beauty that Bloodborne fans adore, making this not just a comic but a true visual masterpiece. This is an absolute must-read for fans of Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and horror comics in general. It perfectly captures the essence of the game, expanding the lore while delivering thrills, chills, and breathtaking action. If you love the mystery, horror, and unrelenting darkness of Yharnam, this is the perfect way to return.

Great read for fans
I have to say, this was one of the worst strategy guides. There was barely any explanation or maps to help explain where to go. ; ) However, the use of colour and style in the artwork is brilliant, putting you into the setting of the plot. You could feel the emotion of the characters, while they faced an array monstrosities. Though, nothing could prepare them for facing themselves. : 0

Good entry in the series
The Bloodborne comics are a bit hit and miss: I liked Vol. 1 alright, although more for the atmosphere than the story. Then they became gradually less interesting, with Vol. 3 being a letdown for me due to what I consider a squandering of beloved NPC Eileen the Crow's potential. I might have even stopped reading the series after Vol. 4 if hadn't already had Vol. 5 at home. That would have been a pity, because in my opinion Vol.s 5 and 6 (this one) have been the most engaging stories in the series so far. Cullen Bunn was a good choice as the new writer and with the introduction of Gretchen and Abraham in Vol. 5 there's finally a pair of original hunter characters that's interesting and likeable. This volume sees the protagonists explore the chalice dungeons underneath Yharnam and so explores a part of the lore that even many of those who have played the game might not be intimately familiar with.
