Moisture Meter, with Battery and LCD Display, Suitable for Quick Determination of Moisture Content of Many Types of logs, Paper, Plywood, Plaster Walls, Floor coverings, etc.

If you have a log burner, especially in an older period property like my 1890s terrace, you quickly learn that "Kiln Dried" doesn't always mean "Ready to Burn." I bought this moisture meter to take the guesswork out of my winter fuel prep, and the results were eye-opening. ​The "Real World" Test: The most important thing I’ve found (and shown in my photos) is that testing the outside of a log is useless. I tested a batch of kiln-dried ash that looked perfect on the outside (reading 12-14%). However, as soon as I split the log and tested the fresh internal face, the reading jumped to 23-25%. Burning that would have gummed up my flue and wasted energy. ​Why this specific meter works: ​Speed & Clarity: The display is bright and the reading is near-instant. ​The Pin Depth: The pins are sturdy enough to get a good bite into hardwood without feeling like they’ll snap. ​Versatility: I’ve also been using it to check for damp patches around my skirting boards before I start my upcoming bedroom decorating and MDF alcove shelving project. It’s a great peace-of-mind tool for old house maintenance. ​Verdict: If you’re a new stove owner, don’t guess. Get a meter, split your logs, and test the center. This tool is inexpensive, accurate enough for home use, and could save you a very expensive chimney sweep bill. Highly recommended.

Just what I required with ease of use and easy to read display.

Not had any issues with this, just need to make sure you are on the right settings for what your checking. I use this to check my logs for my burner and no issues at all. Nice and compact and easily carry it in your pocket, the cover on the end holds in place so you don’t stab your self with it. Good quality build, the prongs have not budged where I had issue with previous moisture meters.

Decent moisture meter for fire logs. Spikes help give good readings and it's supplied with a spare set. Tested it on wood I knew the approximate moisture content of, hardwood and soft. It was pretty accurate and confirmed the firewood sellers specifications. Happy with my purchase. Easy to understand/use and accuracy is good.

delivered on time next day.. looks the business well packed and instructions complete within meter can measure building materials and wood which I wanted it for .. small batteries supplied but I decided to use my own which is not necessary may I add.. spare measuring prongs ..great value ...nice ....what is there not to like

Batteries included and easy to fit and use. The mould spots on my wall are due to humidity not damp according to this. Hope that's the case.

Très très bien et facile d'utilisation

Why spend a ton as a homeowner when you may only use a tool a few times. This fit the bill perfectly. Very economical and worked like a charm. Very easy to use, the LED screen was very easy to read.
