As a police officer with size 15 wide feet, finding duty boots that actually fit, hold up, and don’t wreck my knees has been a struggle. After trying Danner, Bates, and 5.11s, I gave the Merrell Nova 3 Tactical Mids a shot — and I’m glad I did. 👣 Fit & Comfort (5/5) I ordered 15W, and they fit perfectly out of the box — no toe pinching, no pressure points. Feels more like a trail runner than a boot. Lightweight, breathable, and easy on the knees during long shifts. The heel cushioning is excellent for long hours on concrete or pavement. 🌧 Waterproofing (4.5/5) They've handled rain, puddles, and light flooding with no problem. Not insulated, but with thick socks, they’re fine in colder weather. 🚓 On-Duty Performance (5/5) Traction is excellent — no slipping during foot pursuits or wet conditions. Just the right balance of ankle support and mobility. Great for patrol, traffic stops, foot beats, and range training. Still holding up strong. 🔧 Durability (TBD but promising) Months in and no signs of failure — stitching, sole, and waterproofing all still solid. Toe guard and outsole seem like they’re built for punishment. 🛠 Pro Tip: Wear them on a couple shorter shifts first. They break in quickly, but feel even better after a few wears. 👮‍♂️ Bottom Line If you’re in law enforcement, security, EMS, or any job that requires hours on your feet, these are a smart pick — especially if you have big or wide feet. Lightweight, supportive, waterproof, and comfortable straight out of the box. Would definitely buy again.

True fit, very comfortable, durable, waterproof, and lightweight. Little traction and squeaky on slick wet surfaces. On my 5th set, absolutely love these boots.

A really great really comfortable hiking shoe more than boot. It’s tall like a hiking boot, but it doesn’t have the most solid ankle support and the rubber on the soul is a bit soft. I’m only writing this to inform I’m not saying that that is a bad thing. I use them up in Montana and did a lot of hiking and honestly, I love them.

Very comfortable shoe, out of the box nearly perfect fit and support with a solid lacing system and tread that works in both urban environments and on the trails. However these shoes are not at all waterproof as advertised. The right shoe leaks almost immediately right where sole meets the upper on the outside toe box and the left will slowly leak through if wet for any prolonged amount of time. Have had these shoes only a week, have mostly worn around town and on one hike which left me with soaked socks. Would not recommend purely because of this issue, which is a shame because everything else about these shoes is nearly perfect.

These are the best boots I've ever owned. The wide toebox is perfect for my wide feet and bunion issues. The boots still look brand new after several months of 14 hours/day daily wear. I'm mostly walking on concrete and haven't had any knee or hip pain I get with sneaker type boots, so the soles are doing their job absorbing impact. I will say that while they are completely waterproof, they are not breathable. My socks are not dry at the end of 14 hour days. All in all, these are my new goto boots.

I have had several pairs of Merrell footwear over the years and have always been satisfied with the fit, comfort and quality of their product. These boots look very similar to my Trail Glove 5s and I expected the same type of quality, however these were a huge disappointment. While I will say that they are comfortable right out of the box, as other reviewers have pointed out - these boots make a very noticeable “swooshing” plastic bag like crinkling sound while walking, and the rubber-like coating on the toe box also sounds as if it is delaminating as the material rebounds from having any sort pressure on it(IE kneeling down). Not sure if it is the type of materials used or the construction, but either way this is not the type of quality you should expect for $160. For a company who has made some great tactical boots, these are a total miss. Do better, Merrell.

Really like these boots they wear more like sneakers than a heavy boot but still provide warmth. Are comfortable seem to be tough and are wearing well after two months of wear. Even though these are not supposed to be cold weather I have been hiking in snow and 20 degree temps with just a pair of wool socks and they kept my feet comfortable. They are also waterproof and when these wear out I will be getting another pair. These boots are pretty pricy but seem worth it.

I am retired from the military and an avid outdoorsman. I take footwear very seriously and like to do my research before a purchase. Buying boots on Amazon without being able to try them on has always made me hesitant. Yes, there are free returns, but once I’ve committed the funds to a purchase I’d like it to go right and avoid the uncertainty of the refund timeline. So, I wanted to share the info I would have liked to know before I made this purchase. These are great lightweight, well cushioned day hikers with a great moisture barrier and really good traction. They are comfortable enough for daily wear around town, and have what it takes to perform off trail for rec hiking and flatland off trail excursions. I have a narrow foot, and the toe box on this boot is wide. Not wide enough to let my foot slip around in the front, but enough to cause a little bunching of the material under the bottom row of laces. I almost returned them for that reason. I’m picky and worried that it would get to me. I was over it fast and don’t notice it much at all. They have a great moisture barrier lining, but don’t sweat your feet out like some can. These are good boots for what they do, they are stylish enough to pull off with jeans without feeling like “that guy” and still feel like I have something useful on my feet if I need them.

Great style and comfort. Have used them several times shovelling snow in the Canadian winter and they hold up well. Highly recommend!
