Book 2 opens with a new My Own Song improvisation on CDEFG. Unit 1 introduces phrasing and legato touch, and also presents harmonic 2nds and 3rds with staccato touch. The following two units are dedicated to the introduction of 4ths and 5ths. Also in Unit 3, sharps are introduced in a diatonic setting starting on D, and flats are introduced as blues notes. Most pieces in the second half of Book 2 coordinate hands playing together. This book works very well for transfer students. Review: Well-Structured Follow-Up with Creative Improvisation - Overall, Piano Lessons Book 2 balances technique, theory, and musicality in a way that keeps students engaged and progressing. It’s an excellent next step for anyone who has completed Book 1 or is transitioning from another method. Review: The best piano learning book! - Having started on book 1 in this series, my pupils and me, are also loving this book! As with the first book, the pieces sound very good or good. When played with the wonderful accompaniment they sound even better and quite advanced and impressive sometimes! There has been so much thought put into this book, introducing theory and new steps in a very well planned way. The increments are very manageable and well placed so aid with the next piece coming up. Each piece has a something new to learn eg intervals of a 2nd or the hand postilion is new, or staccato notes, or a few notes hand together etc This book not only incorporates learning to read music, theory, a bit of improvising, duet playing but most of all, you are learning to have fun playing the piano and not just think of this as a step to hurry a long so you can get onto Grade 1! This in my opinion is by far the best beginners piano book I have come across in my years of teaching, I only wished I had discovered it earlier!

Excellent book but audio tracks not available in UK
A very nice, high quality method book. Be sure to order the version that includes access code to backing tracks!

Really useful book
Really useful book especially for self-learning, you can play the songs along with the cd so at least you will know you're playing in time and it's much more fun than using a metronome. After some weeks I found myself playing in perfect timing without even noticing it!Highly reccomended
