Valuable and useful insight into your dog's activity
I bought our PitPat on recommendation of a friend who used his to manage the daily activity of his working Cocker Spaniel. Initially we bought ours out of curiosity but when our dog Tolly began to fall ill as a puppy it was useful to be able to present a decline in his activity to the vet. Tolly was diagnosed with a form of meningitis which he suffered 7 times in his first year. Now symptom-free and in remission from the disease the steroid course had taken a toll and saw his weight go up from 26kg to 31kg. He was put on a weight management plan with a metabolic diet, but it was the exercise, combined with the information provided by the PitPat that made the difference. He lost 4kg in 6 weeks which the veterinary nurse just couldn't believe, but when I showed her the data from the PitPat on the phone app she was really impressed with it. PitPat is a brilliant product - so easy to use once set up, looks great (people often ask what it is), is super light-weight and very small so it doesn't get in the way of Tolly's activity. We have it attached to his harness, so it only records the formal exercise he does. He doesn't wear a collar because his fur is taking a long time to regrow after a lumbar puncture. We love the awards and badges Tolly picks up from PitPat in recognition of the work he is putting in and as a bit of a gadget geek I love the detail of the data provided. The accuracy of the device is of course difficult to gauge but in day-to-day comparisons it is easy to spot progress - and big achievements!

Love this little gadget!
This is probably one of the best things I’ve ever bought from Amazon. I’ve got a very active Labrador, and was curious to know, just how much further than she me walked when running in the fields, etc. I already had a pedometer for myself, but suspected she did a lot more. She certainly does that! There’s no subscription for the basic functions, walking, running, playing, etc., you set it up by telling it your dog’s breed, etc., and it is really simple to use. Every so often you will be awarded ‘badges’ and told what the equivalent in walking would be. I haven’t had my PitPat very long, and she’s already walked from London to Edinburgh! It’s is a constant source of amusement every day. I fully recommend it for all dog owners who enjoy a walk with their best friend!

Stopped working after 2 months
Fantastic activity tracker for my spaniel pup, however it has stopped working after only 2 months and is now outside the return window. Very disappointing for something that has such good reviews and isn't cheap. EDIT: Pit Pat have been amazing, after taking me through some troubleshooting which didn't work, they're sending me a brand new tracker and have asked me to return the existing one so they can figure out what went wrong. Couldn't be more impressed with their customer service - thank you!

Small, effective and intelligent!
Fantastic little device, simple to setup and the app is pretty straightforward to use. We use it to monitor our Labrador husky cross to make sure he’s getting enough exercise. No subscription fees to use the basic model so highly recommended. Small device that doesn’t impact their collar at all.

Simple to use and so useful for tracking activity
I have a 6 year old rescue Bischon Frise who is overweight and when I first got her she really did not like going out for a walk. I've dithered about whether to buy this or not but now wish I had bought one for her earlier. As the app suggests I took vet's advice regarding her weight and setting up her exercise goals. Being a small dog the activity tracker is great in that it's lightweight and fastened simply by velcro. She hasn't scratched or fiddled with her collar so it's clear she's not bothered by wearing it. The tracker is also waterproof which is a must for our weather! The benefit for me as an owner was this was so straightforward to set up in a matter of minutes and that included me working out how to add her photo! To look at the data, you choose "Fetch Data" from the app menu and then press the orange paw on the PitPat. I have had no problems with connection. I really like how simple this is, that it motivates you to keep on track (and in her case not to overdo it) and the encouraging messages and badges of achievement make me smile and give you a boost to keep the activity levels right. It's clever in that a friend brought her dog over and it detected the amount of play she had with the other dog on this day. There's clearly more to come with the app as "Food" is being developed and at the moment you have the option to give your views. There is no subscription cost with this but there is an offer of joining PitPat Life at £3.99 per month for some benefits. I haven't done this, so I can't comment on the value v cost, as it's something I am considering. I think this is really going to help me keep her weight loss programme on track which for me is a healthier dog and a happier companion. Recommended.

Inaccurate stopped recording fast walks
Small and compact for his collar. Wanted to track how much further he went than me off lead. First week I got it worked fine. Showed he went a lot further than me sniffing. Then I started doing fast walks and it failed. Didn’t record the whole walk. It was as if my dog hadn’t walked at all. Didn’t even record him as being still just no data. On slow walking showed him running for the whole walk. Did a test walk with it in my pocket walking slow. Showed I had walked a lot less distance than my smart watch. Checked the battery with my electric meter and it was at full power. The app didn’t allow me to change from miles to kilometres and it added all the walks together in one day. I guess I would have had to subscribe to the extra features of the app to gain this which wasn’t a cheap monthly subscription. The supplied Velcro was so short to get it to go round his collar with the suggested overlap I would have had to buy their extra kit containing a bit of longer double sided Velcro in a fancy box for a lot of money. I bought for just a bit more a pack of re-useable Velcro cable ties which worked just as well and I had a lot left for other jobs. So in conclusion this was an expensive inaccurate bit of kit for the money. I would have expected the longer Velcro to be included in the box with the device, the device to be more accurate and the free aspect of the app to be able to switch between miles and kilometres at the very least. Poor quality I would take your hard earned money elsewhere. After three weeks of use mine was returned.

Query the accuracy
Had one of these for our cocker spaniel for several years and works really well. Got this one for a 9 month springer spaniel and are not finding it particularly accurate. First day said she had done over 12 miles which was not possible, have altered by about 50% and seems more in keeping with what she’s doing, but this wasn’t necessary on previous one. Hopefully it will settle to her and give more accuracy

Great monitor
Love our PitPat which we actually bought in January 2020, I just realised I had forgotten to write a review. It really is amazing how far your dog can cover in a day - and explains why they sleep so much! We have found it so useful, and it's interesting to see how many miles he does when we go off lead walking. We were also really happy to see that when he goes to the dog minder, he can cover 7 miles in a day just playing with her dogs within the confines of her garden. He loves to stick his head in snow, hedges and bushes, has been swimming, has chased squirrels and rabbits through the woods - the PitPat has survived the lot, to say it's been put through its paces in 12 months is an understatement. It's very light, attaches to the collar by a strong velcro strap, has never come off despite his headlong adventures and easily washed, we just do it quickly in soap and warm water, wipe dry and leave somewhere warm. I had to contact customer services recently thinking there was problem with the PitPat, but it turned out it was just a new battery that was needed, our first one in over 12 months. I had a quick response from them and all was sorted in a matter of hours. It's well worth the money, great that you can have some fun without a compulsory subscription. Great fun!
